George Zimmerman hides to avoid service of process in divorce

Sunday, September 22, 2013

Good morning:

Cowardly George Zimmerman is hiding again.

This time he is hiding from his wife, Shellie Zimmerman, who is seeking to divorce him.

Her lawyer, Kelly Sims, cannot find him to serve him with a copy of the divorce petition.

The strategy will not work, however, because he can be served by publication.

Mr. Sims need only publish the divorce petition in the local newspaper for 90 days at the conclusion of which the court will deem him to have been served.

  1. Jeanette says:

Not sure if laws in Florida have changed, but you used to be able to serve the papers to the attorney of record. When my ex was dodging personal service there, I had the papers served to his criminal attorney and it was considered effective service. This was about 12 years ago, though.

  2. LOL, just like he hid from the ER that night to avoid a tox screen.

They’ll find him. Sure will. What a loser.

  3. Judy75201 says:

Shellie filed for divorce 9/5; the altercation was 9/9. I think he is laying low due to the altercation. At the time of Shellie’s divorce filing, her atty put in the certificate of service that George’s address was confidential, so they had his address at that time. The clerk had to issue a summons before George could be served.

  4. ay2z says:

‘wet’ elsewhere, that works too… šŸ˜‰

  5. ay2z says:

Nagging question. The emails and the latest ‘catch me if you can’ scenario, were both reported on TMZ and seems the story wet elsewhere after that.

Who, but SZ and GZ and their lawyers, and families who THEY tell, know about both of these and provide them to TMZ?

One or both of the parties is leaking the information for a reason.. And would GZ even know for a fact that anyone has tried to serve him with anything, never mind specifics of divorce paper attempts?

WHO might be leaking to TMZ? Batman or ClintEastwood?

Just sayin’, no one else would know what is in the service packet.

    • jm says:

ay2z says: “WHO might be leaking to TMZ? Batman or Clint Eastwood?”

I do believe it is SZ’s lawyer is another player looking for his 15 minutes of fame in the Zimmerman ongoing soap opera.

You would think all parties involved in this would be back hiding under the rocks they crawled out from by now.

    • Trained Observer says:

I think it’s fairly clear that SheLie’s lawyer, Kelly Sims is just flat-out stating that he’s not been able to serve Fogen.

That’s not a leak. … It’s a maneuver, and a pretty smart one at that, given that it exposes Fogen for the cowardly chicken shit that he is.

  6. bettykath says:

Why was service not done the same day that they filed the papers in court?

    • Malisha says:

      All players are bad actors.
All actions by any or all of them are 2/3 “for show.”
At this point the lies are overlapping the other lies so nobody can tell who’s doing what to whom.
The only real testable reality in this is that Fogen is a racist murderer who was blessed by his murderous racist culture in his murderous racist adopted state so that he could go on to kill again and, ultimately, be killed and boo hoo it’s public theater.

      Like the trial.

NOT Oscar quality. A poor show from beginning to end and one can only hope the end comes soon.

    • Dave says:

…or when they were taking stuff out of the house?

      • ay2z says:

Why they would delay the service, Sims ws not thinking the spouse might go into hiding, h’s never hidden out before, like that was forseeable. šŸ˜‰

Perfect opportunity to serve him in cuffs, Dave, great point!

    • Xena says:

Don’t know about Florida but in most states, service by summons has to be made by the Sheriff. If the summons is returned not served, then the plaintiff petitions the court for special service and an alias summons is issued. Service by publication can be requested when the address of the defendant/respondent is not known.

Sounds as if GZ flew the coop before the Sheriff served the complaint and summons.

  7. boyd says:

kelly sims is an idiot. duped again was he?

    • No, that’s not being duped.

He’s dealing with a dirtbag who is in hiding to avoid service of process.

When that happens, you serve the divorce petition by publication.

      That’s what he will do.

Either way, the dirtbag gets served.

    • Trained Observer says:

boyd, I don’t think Kelly Sims is an idiot.

Whether She-Lie deserves the break remains questionable, but Sims deserves credit for getting her felony charge dropped to a misdemeanor, negotiating probation and community service instead of jail time.

Most people facing a felony conviction would consider that mighty fine lawyering.

  8. Elizabeth says:

Really? Ew! He thinks he’s a celebrity?

  9. Malisha says:

What Fogen wants to avoid is NOT the divorce but the financial statements required before the divorce is finalized. A judge in a divorce proceeding has some pretty BROAD DISCRETION to find out financial information. This is an “oops” for him. He’s a grifter and a thief and Shellie knows where he hides the money. HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!!

    • Trained Observer says:

Forcing Fogen to spill on his finances would be fun … especially if he perjures himself with “I done got no money” claims when it could be proven otherwise. šŸ™‚ .

  10. Xena says:

Now we know. Mark O’Mara has more talent throwing a dummy to the ground than he does dancing.

  11. MichelleO says:

I ABSOLUTELY adore the fact that Fogan knows that all law enforcement does not love him. It’s good to know that he too be offed by a ratchet police officer at any moment.

  12. ay2z says:

Pakman discusses the emails, he can’t want this type of publication.

    • ay2z says:

      Published yesterday, Sept 21st.

    • jm says:

I don’t think the police officer was very smart agreeing GZ was a Sandy Hook waiting to happen.

      • Trained Observer says:

He’s Lake Mary’s chief of police. … Why not?

        • jm says:

Because he is Lake Mary chief of police, a public official, it was a stupid thing to say for many reasons.

          • Trained Observer says:

            Such as?

          • jm says:

As much as I believe GZ is guilty of murder, he was found not guilty with the help of lame law enforcement testimony in Seminole County and 6 “upstanding” citizens of that county..

As much as I believe GZ is capable of another crime, as a public official I would not tell the citizens of Seminole County that GZ is capable of such a horrific event as Sandy Hook.

Not sure but it seems to put this police chief at a liability to show prejudice. Who knows, it could be GZ will try to sue Seminole County like he is suing NBC for defamation of character.

His wife and father-in-law refused to press charges, he was not arrested for the altercation and he was found not guilty in a court of law, so what right does the police chief have to judge him publicly at this point in time?

PS: I am not a GZ supporter and I believe he is a lying murderer.

          • There is no basis to sue the Lake Mary police chief or the City of Lake Mary that employs him for defamation because expressing an opinion about someone is insufficient to state a claim for defamation.

Also, GZ is now a public figure, so he would have to prove actual malice, plus truth is a defense.

          • Trained Observer says:

Suing Seminole County for defamation would make no sense, since it was the Lake Mary police chief who offered his opinion. I’d be more inclined to think he, as a nut case, might attempt action against Seminole State College for kicking him out after the shooting.

          • jm says:

TO the point I am making is never give GZ, who is suing NBC lawsuit ammunition. You would think the police chief would know better.

        • Trained Observer says:

If it chooses to do so, NBC can outgun this killer-twerp and his weak case any day, any year, any decade. It’s called continuance, continuance, continuance. Even if Fogen got a judgment in his favor, the appeals could be endless.

  13. kllypyn says:

Again not taking responsibility. at least if he’s hiding like the punk he is,he wont be lurking the streets and possibly hurting someone.

  14. ay2z says:

GZ however, IS making himself a news target once again, and this may be a big benefit for him too, so his supporters think about him and sent cashola. Keeps his s name in the news, good bad or otherwise. He can’t exactly go out saving more people who don’t need saving, or speeding through traps (what do you bet he ha a radar detector in his cab?).

    Craft, he’s proven that

  15. Fogen tries to hide, but can’t hide from ShelLIE’s divorce. She will serve by publication and the divorce will finalize, regardless of his cowardness.

Fogen tries to hide, but can’t hide from the echo of Trayvon’s voice hauntingly screaming over and over in his brain, “I’m begging you!” despite B37’s erroneous assessment of Fogen having a good heart.

Where ever Fogen goes, he unfortunately/fortunately takes himself with him and cannot escape Karma.

Karma wears 6″ stilettos and only appears when summoned.

    • ay2z says:

And may be in camoflage right next to GZ waiting for someone to say the magic ‘summon’ (or summons?) request.

      Lol, a man without conviction…. šŸ˜‰

    • I nominate B37 for a Darwin award.

      • bettykath says:

        i second that nomination.

      • looneydoone says:

I nominate John Donnelly and his wife Leanne Benjamin for a Darwin Award. They admitted giving cheorge approx $5k AND perjured themselves to help him gain acquittal

On the other hand, B37’s a racist bigot and had hopes of cashing in on plans to sell a book about the trial. She’s a cLunt married to an atty rumored to be friendly with O’Mara

        • towerflower says:

I don’t believe that rumor…..too much at stake. They will ask participants if they know anyone and if the hubby was friendly with MOM then MOM would have dismissed her based on that.

          • looneydoone says:

Jury selection was a process to weed out those who might’ve voted to convict…there was no interest in eliminating those who supported cheorge.

    • abbyj says:

Medusausi, I agree with you that karma will catch up with this miserable excuse for a human being, but I doubt seriously that fogen is haunted by anything, least of all Trayvon’s pleading voice before being executed. Fogen has a way of rationalizing everything so that the blame (in his mind) falls to the other person.

Fogen’s probably thinking, “If only that black kid had just LISTENED to me! He wouldn’t be dead. And now look at the trouble he caused ME!”

I sincerely doubt that he has a flicker of conscience over killing Trayvon, just anger that Trayvon caused him so much difficulty by “disobeying” and “disrespecting” him when he confronted him. That’s the nature of his sick mind, and it will never, never change, IMO.

  16. 2dogsonly says:

Adultary is not illegal in Fl. Fl. Is a no fault state. His paranoia is probably keeping him from accepting divorce papers. He is also furious that Shelly has an attorney who supports her while his kicked him to the curb. I hope West has reached out to him, it may be the only way Shelly gets out alive.

  17. Judy75201 says:

More dangerous than Alligator Alley’s four-lane traffic and gators sunning themselves alongside: A burgeoning population of Burmese pythons that slowly squeeze the life out of their quarry.

  23. Deborah Moore says:

Fred, you are a blogging rabbit this weekend.
The GZ story only holds interest for me as it pertains to how the Law seems to be Fucked Up.
Details of his hiding, when and where have no interest to me. Maybe just a teeny tiny.
I know many folks here love to trash about it all day. Why is he such a loser type questions. I’ll defer to the doctors for that.
But, you know, I love ya. And, I guess this is as good a place as any for folks to vent their anger and hypothesis.

    • jm says:

Deborah Moore says: “Details of his hiding, when and where have no interest to me…… I know many folks here love to trash about it all day. Why is he such a loser type questions…….”

I think it is interesting only in that it shows GZ’s true character. Even the 2 speeding stops. GZ thinks he is above the law and can weasel/lie out of anything. I just wonder how his family feels and all the folks who defended him, in court and outside of court feel about GZ now. Also wonder if any of the jury members have had a light-bulb moment that they may have made a mistake in not convicting him after watching GZ’s post trial antics.

  24. Trained Observer says:

Fogen’s fat ego doesn’t like the notion of SheLie leaving HIM.

A 90-day legal notice will work fine, although I do prefer that an enterprising skip-tracer/server team nail his ass personally with the paper … and a photo that we all could enjoy. Snap, crackle and pop.

As long as he’s driving his schruck, it shouldn’t be that difficult to back him into a corner for service.

    • Trained Observer says:

If TMZ is intent on spotting his butt, Fogen’s chances of eluding service are significantly reduced.

    • bettykath says:

I think you’re right. It’s his ego unwilling to let Shellie make such a decision. He is such a jerk. What he needs is a lawyer to tell him that his antics are to no avail and he’s just showing himself for the jerk he is.. Shellie’s made the decision. He can man up or wimp down. So far he’s following true to form: he’s a wimp. Is adultery illegal in FL? Wouldn’t that be a hoot for him to to be arrested for adultery? (Actually, I think making laws dealing with personal relationships should be out of bounds, including adultery, but if it’s on the books…..)

      • Trained Observer says:

bettykath, could be on the adultery grounds. I don’t know about Florida law on that. But I do think part of Fogen’s deal to show her …. show her how he’s smarter than she is … show her he’ll always have the upper hand … show her how she should have stuck with him for the falsely anticipated good life.

Essentially, that’s how he’s operated for years with former colleagues, family, girl friends, etc. …. Fail to follow my orders and I’ll show you …

That’s how Trayvon Martin got murdered.

        • jm says:

Trained Observer says: “……show her how she should have stuck with him for the falsely anticipated good life…..”

I thought he left her and she had no options to stick with him. According to news story, ShelLIE claims “He only spent three or four nights at their home before she moved out in mid-August, she says. Now, she’s filed for divorce, asking for “equitable distribution” of their assets, including anything he might gain from the defamation suit he filed against NBC.”

ShelLIE still wants the good life with or without GZ and is hoping to cash in on his defamation suit against NBC. As far as assets, who knows what support he is still receiving with the contributions from gun nutz and racists. Somebody is paying the $1000 rent for the home in Lake Mary and their living expenses, given neither of them has a job.

          • Trained Observer says:

It was she who filed, not Fogen. He did not formally leave her.

The home is owned by her parents … and we have no specific knowledge that either one of these two ever actuallly cut rent checks in a timely manner. They were squatters with their previous landlord at Retreat at Twin Lakes.

          • jm says:

“It was she who filed, not Fogen. He did not formally leave her.”

Sounds like he physically left her and forced her hand to file. Maybe she had knowledge of his new girlfriend who showed up on the day of the altercation as well. I think GZ dumped ShelLIE as soon as he no longer needed her to show up in court and support him during his murder trial.

Even if they didn’t pay the rent to her father, there are everyday expenses of living plus utilities, etc. You can see they eat well and a lot. I suspect GZ is still getting donations and support from racists and gun nutz who consider him a hero as well as people like the old dude who showed up on his behalf, testified he recognized the voice calling for help as GZ in distress and admitted he gave GZ money and bought his wardrobe for court.

          • lurker says:

jm–I think even the old dude has expressed surprise and anger at the way gz treated Shellie once it was all over. I think the guy fancied himself a reformer or savior. Turns out gz didn’t really want to be saved.

          • jm says:

lurker says: “I think the guy fancied himself a reformer or savior. Turns out gz didnā€™t really want to be saved.”

Delusional fools, the whole lot of the Zimmerman family and friends.

    • abbyj says:

I’m with you, TO. It’s all about the money and his ego. Wouldn’t that be the greatest, for a skip-tracer to nail his ass? He may have swapped out trucks with his body guard or one of his remaining friends–if he has even one left. He always wants to call the shots, and this must piss him off royally. Oh, I do hope he gets served. Man.

  25. jm says:

What is GZ’s motive is my question. He certainly did not keep a low profile previously, getting stopped for speeding twice and getting into an altercation with ShelLIE and her father.

I don’t get it. Maybe RZ, Jr will explain so he can get more publicity. šŸ˜‰

    • racerrodig says:

That’s it..Robbie the Racist can inform us…..after all, he did just that despite not talking to Fogen for 10 + years days after the murder. He’s obviously a psychic.

    • lurker says:

I don’t think he can help himself. Now that he’s not getting ongoing coaching from O’Mara (and security paid to keep him out of the public eye), expect him to pop up again somewhere. It’s just a matter of time. Odds are, though, that he won’t be caught applying for a job.

  26. MDH says:

The divorce papers have a section that requires disclosure of the assets pertaining to his legal defense fund. Arguably, Shellie and those stiffed by George have an interest in those funds in that they were acquired during the marriage. Sleazy George is trying to leave Shellie with her debts while using this fund to pay for girl friends and body guards. Those assets could get frozen, once identified. Also, any creative moving of those assets will easily be tracked by creditors interested that Shellie pay of her debts.

In immortal words of Joe Lewis: “George can run, but he can’t hide”

  27. Two sides to a story says:

    Good grief. What a stand-up citizen! : /

    • Two sides to a story says:

PS – you know he’s likely not hiding from being served his divorce papers. It’s the IPad video that could send him to the slammer that he’s worried about.

      • Judy75201 says:

That very well could be true. He knows what’s on that vid. If he is afraid of it, well, that is delicious.

        • jm says:

If there is something on iPad that could be proves GZ assaulted ShelLIE, why wouldn’t ShelLIE press charges? I get the he said-she said aspect and why ShelLIE who admitted perjury would not want to press charges but if there is proof positive on iPad what happens next if she (or her father) still refuse to press charges.

          • Judy75201 says:

I think her atty convinced her that it was not a risk worth taking since she is on probation. This is just speculation on my part, however.

          • Hagar says:

In Florida, I’m pretty sure the prosecution can proceed without the victim pressing charges.

      • abbyj says:

Two-sides, good point. Wonder what techs have been able to retrieve from the smashed & shattered iPad.

  28. cielo62 says:

    • CherokeeNative says:

I think George has money stashed & that donations are continuing. I am pleased to know that George is hiding – something he will have to do for the remainder of his life – never able to go about his day to day life without having to worry whether someone has a lazer sight pointed at his head. While I would prefer prison for him, until that time, I am content with this thought. Frankly, I am a huge supporter of gun control, but I hope some nut job successfully takes out George before it is implemented. At this point, IMO, George is breathing air that does not belong to him.

      • CherokeeNative says:

Sorry in advance Professor – I know my thoughts are against your beliefs.

        • I have no objection as long as you do not advocate for someone to kill him. You stopped short of that line.

I choose not to hope some nut job kills him because I wish to avoid any unpleasant karmic consequences. I recognize others may disagree.

I prefer to hope for good things rather than murders.

          • jm says:

Prof Leatherman says: “I choose not to hope some nut job kills him because I wish to avoid any unpleasant karmic consequences. I recognize others may disagree.”

I choose to hope GZ lives in fear the rest of his life worrying about a nut job and/or racist just like him hunting him down and killing him. It seems like killing him would be an easy way out for GZ.

          • Two sides to a story says:

I hope Fogen would repent and make good, but that doesn’t seem likely. At least not yet. In the absence of that, we really don’t have to hope anything because his karma will not take him good places otherwise.

        • Mojo says:

          George Zimmerman being killed? Schadenfreude

I agree, friend. (I also recognize that the Prof’s perspective is possibly superior.)

      • ay2z says:

He’s making himself a target for the ‘Waldo’ watchers, someone will catch him on a phone image or camera and be keeping an eye out now, not nefarious reasons, just because he’s ‘wanted’ for simple service of docs.

Many would call in and let SZ know his sighting loc.

      • Tzar says:

    • abbyj says:

Hey Cielo, I’m with numerous others here who think it’s all about the Benjamins. There may be $$$$ stashed that he doesn’t want to share. Or, since GZ dumped a ton of debt at her front door, it may be that the divorce terms have language stipulating that she be freed-up from the debt he created. Whatever it is, it’s all about the Benjamins. That’s my bet.

    • lurker says:

Control is control. Doesn’t have to be rational.

But–he’s probably just hiding out from all the evil doers out there that have nothing better to do than to track him down. Now that he’s blown his cover with his vicious attack on Shellie’s i-Pad.

Somehow I still think he’s going to show up on Big Brother or Dancing with the Stars sooner or later.
