#MH370: No pings detected during Tuesday search

Tuesday, April 8, 2014

Good morning:

The searchers did not detect any pings on Tuesday and that may be because the batteries on the black boxes have expired.

They will continue to listen for pings because it’s possible that the batteries might not have expired and they need the pings to triangulate the precise location of the black boxes. Otherwise, it might take a long time of hit and miss searching of the ocean bottom to locate them.

Here’s the latest report from Sky News in Australia.

Two sets of possible black box pings picked up by the Australian vessel Ocean Shield in the southern Indian Ocean – one that was held for two hours and 20 minutes, and another for 13 minutes – remain the best lead so far.

Search co-ordinator Angus Houston said no more signals had been detected since those announced on Monday.

But the former defence force chief said strenuous attempts to pick up more would continue until there was no doubt the black box beacon’s battery, now two days past its 30-day life, had run out.

Batteries often lasted several days longer than that, so there was still hope, he said.

‘Until we stop the pinger search, we will not deploy the submersible … unless we find another transmission,’ he told reporters in Perth on Tuesday.

‘If we can get more transmissions, we can get a better fix on the ocean floor, which will enable a much more narrowly focused visual search for wreckage.

‘If we go down there now and do a visual search, it will take many, many days because it’s very slow, very painstaking work to scour the ocean floor.’

He said some of the false acoustic leads that had been discounted had come from a search ship.

‘It got its own transmissions back again. Funny things happen in that environment and you can’t assume things,’ he said.

‘We think the Ocean Shield transmission is probably the most promising one and we continue to prosecute that.’

You are up to date.

    O Topic

    But come on

    COME ON …..

Ive seen some bad over the top acting before but

Oscar Pissedalloverus is just to frigging much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don’t see why how he felt after the shooting, no matter how bad, would be relevant. In the sentencing phase, maybe.

I read that white South African paranoia about black-on-white robbery and violence is a “hidden subtext” in this case of a white man killing his white girlfriend. Things that make you go hmm…

Hmmmm, did they actually hear a ping from the beacon? Maybe not.. Could it be that the desire to hear something is causing them to hear things that are not what they think they are? Why no sign of debris in the area? Are they even searching in the right area? It still bothers me to have people “assume” the pilot seized the plane and was in some way responsible for the loss, they have no real proof other than he was on the aircraft when it disappeared. Some speculated he was headed to the USA base in the area, but fail to realize that even the pilot would have realized the USA would have had to hand him back over to Malaysia, this nation simply not have given him asylum after he committed a criminal act such as this…

The pings being picked up by the Australian ship have every making of the black boxes pings…..right frequency and right spacing of pings. They are discounting the Chinese pings as they were using a handheld listening device and regular earphones, they might have picked up something but the US equipment on the Australian ship is being lowered thousands of feet deep to avoid any reflection of sound. I believe that they are in the right area.

As to debris……they didn’t even start to search in this area for about 3 weeks. The large items spotted by satellites, further south, could never be found by surface ships due to the delay in the passing of information. They also had a cyclone move through the search area before they got there so a lot of the debris might have now sunk. The Aussie have also now started to tow divers alongside dingies to see if they can spot any debris that is floating just below the surface of the ocean.

How convenient ! The story that keeps on giving, and giving and giving… With absolutely nothing to be gained. it is Ironic and yet very sad. CNN is living off this story , But seriously… when ever the MSM spends this much time on a issue, you know there is something stinky and dangerous at play… Seriously ! With this much over coverage, pretty soon the dumbed down public will not even give a ping.

  4. Might be time to consider the other ships and aircraft that have seemingly vanished from the face of the Earth. Woo-woo stuff, I know, but doesn’t quantum physics recognize the existence of other dimensions, at least theoretically?

Maybe putting on tinfoil hats is appropriate to this situation. ET abductees have reported being taken as a group from trains and other group situations – why not a plane? Did the flight encounter a strange craft and why it was reported at one point at 44k feet?

I guess when you get into the category of “imponderable,” it becomes imponderable.

      • In my book it does. Of course, the search is still young and there’s always the theory that the plane might be stashed somewhere and hasn’t been found or that there’s something political going on and maybe the plane is around and some govt doesn’t want it found. But outside that, the case certainly becomes imponderable.

String theory an M Theory are not possable without the existance of multiple dimensions.

  5. Stormwatch says:

Some of those pings could be the Lojack signals from cars that were washed away in the Tsunami’s.

You were a little late on the update today! But better late than never, right?

Wow, I’m thinking of how the search teams must feel right about now. I remember that after 9/11, some of the search dogs were becoming very depressed because they kept finding only dead and more dead or pieces of dead. Some of the men and women in the search teams arranged with some people to lie in the wreckage so the dogs could find some living people, so they would not feel so depressed because it was beginning to negatively affect their health. They stopped eating, and so forth. That was one of the stories that affected me greatly after 9/11. The dogs needing to have some success to keep from falling into demoralization. It was very significant to me because I was working in a field with very few successes (6 out of 257 over a span of 18 years). I kind of turned into a depressed dog.
