Liveblogging Michael Dunn trial defense case

Tuesday, February 11, 2014

Good morning:

We will be live blogging the Michael Dunn trial today and watching the proceedings via live stream link at First Coast News.

I recommend opening two browser pages, one for the blog and the other for the live stream. Size each one half-size so that you can view them side by side.

Court resumes at 8 am.

We are in the defense case.

Defense has possibly 2 more witnesses to call:

Doctor John Abuso, who is supposedly an expert regarding reactions by juveniles to extremely stressful situations, and possibly the defendant.

Here’s my take on Dr. Abus, who would presumably testify that fleeing from a shooting scene and ordering a pizza after attempting to kill four teenagers in an SUV is a normal human reaction (H/T to Lurker for the snarky remark):

Many thanks to Blushed Brown for providing a link to John Abuso’s website.

He has a D.Min after his name that I assume to be a Doctor of Divinity. He also claims to be an ordained minister.

Where he went to school to obtain his degree is not listed.

He lists no articles published in professional peer reviewed journals.

He claims to be:

Lic. Marriage & Family Therapist
Clinical Member AAMFT
Clinical Member ATSA

AAMFT is the American Association of Mariage and Family Therapists.

ATSA is the Association for the Treatment of Sex Offenders

He also claims to have received advance training in Ericksonian hypnotherapy.

I am not seeing any evidence of a scientific or medical basis to what this man does.

By almost any standard that I can imagine, this guy is not qualified to express a science or medical based opinion regarding any matter in this case. Therefore, his testimony should be excluded under Rule 702 as not helpful to the jury to decide an issue of that nature in this case.

Because there is no evidence of self-defense admitted into evidence, I do not believe Judge Healey will give a self-defense instruction unless Dunn testifies.

  2. Malisha says:

Horribile dictu, I have run into people like Dunn many times in my life. They do something that not only they, but EVERYONE recognizes as completely wrong, utterly malevolent and completely forbidden by civilized society, and then they immediately adopt the “victim” position and carry on about how they have been mistreated and especially by being blamed for what they undeniably SHOULD be blamed for. Their injured innocence becomes the whole story, and now, to them, it is somewhere between immoral and obscene to even discuss what they DID. Discussing what they DID becomes the blameworthy behavior. The establishment of this height-of-wrongheadedness within an instant after their crime is accomplished by the seamless assumption, by them, of inviolate and permanent “JUDGESHIP.”

THEY judge what everybody ELSE has done, so judging THEIR conduct is taboo.

Unfortunately, when you run into someone like that in a work environment or in a family, so that you cannot get away from them, they can distort and even practically ruin your life. If you run into them in a parking lot they can kill you. I wish I had coined a name for such … humans.

    Nutshell reality:

*) Had a few after ceremony
    *) Relieved stressful wedding’s over
*) Annoyed Rhonda wants wine when rum’s at hotel
*) Caught off guard by “thug” music
    *) Anger flares
    *) Gonna show those punks
    *) Brandishes handy-dandy gun
    *) Rage kidnaps trigger finger
*) Retreating vehicle invites a few kiss-off shots
    *) Whoops, better haul ass
    *) Outta there …
    *) Did that really happen?
*) Well, it’s over now; sure showed those assholes
*) Rhonda: We need to report this
*) Dunn: No we’ll lie low,
*) Hope it goes away. Probably will.
    *) Pizza, drinkies, movie, shuteye
*) 24-hour news: One dead? Shitfire
*) Mmmm, maybe no one will know it’s us …
*) Maybe dad’s got some connections
    *) Let’s call whatzhizname …
    *) No, let’s wait
*) Fuck, cops are on me
*) Time to program my story
    *) They’re thugs, I’m a pilot
*) I was scared shitless, that’ll do it
    *) Rhonda thinks I’m guilty.
    *) Gotta get her corralled.
*) Surely they won’t arrest me
    *) What? I’m being charged?
    *) Oh shit
*) But it’s OK, what with me being white,
    *) And them being black
*) I’ll write letters to grandma and all
*) That way I’ll set the world straight
*) Everybody does think like me, don’t they?

as a society — we need to put this guy away for life without possibility of parole and for renisha mcbride’s killer to face the maximum sentence possible.

anything less and i’ll be looking for a more civilized country to live and have my husband’s company (owned by mitt romney) foot the bill for transfer. i will have to wait for my children to graduate highschool and my 76 year old mother to reach the end of her days, but an ex-pat i will be.

colin — maybe we can hook up for a cup of tea 🙂

  7. Natalie Jackson ‏@NatJackEsq 37s
IN RE MOTION IN LIMINE: The thug reference was VERY important and should have been readdress after Dunn testified.

    Fred agrees with this statement.

Elephant in the room. Dunn acted on blatant flat-out racism.

    • Malisha says:

I agree with Jackson Esq. on that too. “Car-full of thugs” = problem. “Kill-a-Thug” = solution.

      • That was very important. He characterized them as such, and correct if wrong- in any setting other than maybe satire or parody, thug is the new n-word- he based that on skin color and felt completely comfortable killing, evading, and then lying.

  8. blushedbrown says:

I hope Angela does the closing arguments

  9. State rests its rebuttal case.

Court will resume for the jury at 10 am EDT for closing arguments.

Judge and the lawyers will be working on instructions and various housekeeping matters for awhile.

  10. racerrodig says:

What….the “Cops work in a sleep deprivation mode” defense.

    Objection

    Sustained

  11. racerrodig says:

I’ll do my retro scenario……You’ll all remember

“You have the right to remain silent….”

“But why would I do that……I want to tell you about my new puppy and about that carload of thugs and the love of my life………”

    • Trained Observer says:

And my aviation skills, what with my pilot’s license and all. I’m not just your average guy, you see.

      • racerrodig says:

Having flown myself and having flown with my dad, who had a small plane lic. many times, Duhhnnn said he did some stunt flying somewhere in a high wing small plane, which cannot be done safely.

Those type of plane have near 0 lift when the wings are upside down as they don’t have enough horsepower to provide enough forward thrust to overcome it.

So TO, he’d have to be well above average, like Superman or the like.

Maybe with that Superman vision, he saw that shotgun, or stick…right through the door…..just sayin’

        • crazy1946 says:

racerrodig, I would be more inclined to think what he considered acrobatics is the controlled stalls that we were required to learn before we took the flight tests… I seem to recall that the a/c that he was flying (his father’s) was a 172 and you darn sure were not going to do any advanced moves in it… IMO

          • racerrodig says:

Absolutely correct. Passing a flight test does not constitute stunt flying.

Stunt flying needs about 200 mph as a minimum for most stunts.

There is nothing these guys won’t lie about.

          • bettykath says:

The Citabria is a high wing taildragger that is certified for aerobatics.

          • crazy1946 says:

racerrodig, To add just a few more thoughts about his flying. I would suspect he is not IFR rated, nor has the endorsements (rated) for either high performance or complex aircraft. You know darn sure he would have high lighted those qualifications had he possessed them… Did you catch what his alleged instructor said, when they flew to lunch or breakfasts, Done Dunn often “went” with them, not he often flew them to the events… I really think the acquiring the license might have been one of the few successful events in his failed life…

          • crazy1946 says:

bettykath, There were (are) some Cessna 152’s that were modified with shorter wings and up to 150 hp that were (are) that were capable of some limited acrobatics, the key word is “limited” and I don’t think that Done Dunn was qualified (per his lack of bragging) to fly one of those by himself…. but that is simply my opinion and as such means very little…

          • towerflower says:

The airplane he was flying when he violated restricted airspace was a 1946 Aeronca Champ. I don’t know if that is his plane or he was moving it for someone.

          • crazy1946 says:

towerflower, If my antique memory is functioning correctly, I think he said the bird was his dad’s, but with him, it could have been borrowed from one of his dad’s neighbors that was out of town…. I never checked the tail number to see who it belonged to probably because it really did not interest me at the time…

  12. fauxmccoy says:

cop: “can i get you something to drink?”

dunn: “yeah, a rum and coke would feel good about now … my hands might start shaking”

  13. disappointed says:

Live on the beach, have a great job, great girl, good friends… All reason to flee after shooting up the place and not wanting to get caught. Dumb ass. Excuse the language.

  14. What I really don’t get is, he had a dream life. So, why would he throw all that away?

    • Two sides to a story says:

I’d suspect a history of anger/impulse problems. He’s been asked many times throughout his life why he’d do this or that and wreck his life.

  15. justchill says:

Dunn’s a drunk. and effeminate. there, i said it.

  16. Two sides to a story says:

Oh dear. Jordan had a lot to look forward to as well.

  17. Two sides to a story says:

Hmm. He should have showed Dunn a picture of Jordan. I think that’s perfectly acceptable. Serino did it with Fogen.

  18. fauxmccoy says:

oh, he’s not good with gore, but doesn’t mind creating it. what a putz.

  19. Amazing he didn’t kill everyone in the SUV. The three attempted murders are not overcharged. Still wondering how the driver is alive.

  20. fauxmccoy says:

    “this ain’t one of ’em”

regarding real cases of self defense. what an ‘interrogation’!

  21. fauxmccoy says:

“suppression fire” … what a slimy son of a bitch. no need for that what so ever.

  22. racerrodig says:

“I don’t want to sound like an asshole but if a shotgun was coming up again tomorrow I’d do it all over again”

    A) You do sound like an asshole
    B) You didn’t get a get out of jail free card.

“Why were you shooting at the back of the car”

    “To save my life”

    Really……

  23. “I shot at the door. The rear passenger door.”

  24. Trained Observer says:

Cop: “Hell if there was a watergun that looked black at the scene ….”

And if frogs had wings they wouldn’t bump their asses. There was no gun, Dun-dum. .

  25. yes says:

I get mad sometimes when someone is smoking at the bus stop….I give them a bad look sometimes….I think they should move away if they need to smoke…… I will move away from now on with no hard feeling because someone might just shoot me for being angry that they are blowing their smoke in my face…..

  26. colin black says:

Talkers talk an give advance commentry

Attacking violent people give no warning they simply attack without warning.

Like dunn did just opened up without warning.

  27. Mr. Dunn, your problem at the moment is, he was shot in the back inside the truck. He wasn’t “coming at” you.

  28. Trained Observer says:

Dunn whines: “I didn’t know they were 17. I thought they were full grown men.”

Uh, so it would be OK to blow away a full grown man?

  29. Trained Observer says:

Cop soliloquy on how it went down and how the kids weren’t armed and how are they going to kill him if they don’t have anything to do with it?

CoP: If music is up to where you’re asking them to turn it down, how is you can hear the conversation? .

If this doesn’t paint it for the jury, what will?

  30. colin black says:

he was going to eat my ear?
He thought It was Mike Tyson!

  31. yes says:

dunn’s lawyer could say that maybe jordan wanted to brandish a weapon or something that looked like a weapon to make dunn afraid…

  32. “And we can tell you another thing from working murders in Jacksonville? People don’t get out of the car to shoot someone. They just shoot right from the car.”

  33. Rachael says:

Did he just say that he was getting out of the truck but he went back in when he saw him get his gun? But he STILL shot him?!!!

    • fauxmccoy says:

yup — i am thrilled the jury is seeing this video. all on it’s own, in dunn’s own words, it is devastating.

  34. “He wasn’t hit sanding outside the truck.”

“Oh I know, I shot through the door.”

  35. Trained Observer says:

Cop: “Your cars not shooting at them … you are.”

Dunn: “Fear for my life, fear for the love of my life”

Cop: What had they done to her?

  36. “Honestly I am at a loss to justify what I did on that second volley.”

  37. Somebody pointed this out but odd that in his spontaneous demonstration, he ‘aims’ at the black officer.

  38. Rachael says:

“I can’t shoot because in my mind someone had a weapon.”

DAMN this just makes me mad all over again about GZ. GRrrrrrrrr

  39. “I will be the first to tell you, there were no weapons in that car.”

“Is it possible that they dumped it?”

“They never left the parking lot.”

  40. Trained Observer says:

Dunn: “I don’t know what to tell ya …”

    That’s for damn sure.

  41. yes says:

so according to dunn does the bullet holes prove that Jordan was getting out of the truck??????????..I posted this before could someone please answerer

  42. Trained Observer says:

Who puts their window down when feeling threatened???? Don’t we roll up tight, and hit the locks, and skedaddle?

    • Two sides to a story says:

Um yeah – a normal preson retreats.

      • lurker says:

Yeah, but this is Florida. He had a right to “stand his ground,” which apparently means draw and fire.

        • ay2z says:

quoting Dunn “….. in one fluid motion.” (aka he did not reassess, quote only took him 2 seconds to do all those steps to retrieve and ready the gun and fire into the door when according to his own story, any attempt to go outside by Jordan, he was by this point, back inside (ie retreat).

  43. crazy1946 says:

Did you catch the lie about his neighbor “might” have called the police? He said on the stand that he did call the police and even claimed the neighbor talked to the officer that did the arrest….

  44. Trained Observer says:

Dunn wanted to wait to call until “we got around people we knew.”

Think there’ll be anybody he knows when he gets to the slammer?

  45. disappointed says:

LOL did his good friend the neighbor set him up? Called LE and said I will call you when he gets home? Real “good friend” lmao!

    • towerflower says:

From what I got, the LE friend never called because Dunn never told him over the phone. I also thought the cops were on him shortly after he got back home and had called him on his cell phone.

  46. Trained Observer says:

Friendly policeman: You were calling to order pizza … uh, why weren’t you callin’ us?

  47. Rachael says:

He was right about one thing – they probably WERE singing – and here is the song that was supposedly being played when he shot them. SMH

    http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/lilreese/beef.html

    • mojo says:

And Dunn was listening to the following:

When I hold you in my arms
And when I feel my finger on your trigger
I know no one can do me no harm
      Because…
      Happiness is a Warm Gun (bang-bang, shoot-shoot)

  48. acemayo says:

Remember he had time to go home and try to get his lied
straight and if was drunk to get the sober

  49. “Just waitin for another carload of thugs.”

Yeah. Those would be the same thugs who are honor students at a charter school for mathematics, who are getting A grades, and who have never been in trouble. Those thugs.

  50. Trained Observer says:

There he slips with “another carload of thugs” ….

He should have shut up and asked for a lawyer.

    • racerrodig says:

That has killed me from day one, along with a ton of other shit. And I always thought thugs traveled by bus.

His story is being dissected line by line and the thought never crosses either brain cell that they know everything ???

Then he goes down the “..he was getting out of the car…” which is destroyed.

So you got out of your car and made a better target (paraphrase) I thought they’d be shooting at my car…

It wasn’t your car that was shooting at them A Classic !!

“…they would have shot you…” (if they had a gun)

      Game – Set – Match !!

  51. Trained Observer says:

    Dunn: “I’m shittin’ bricks.”

Charming. Bet he thinking that feeling was nothing next to Rhonda’s testimony today.

  52. “Are you talking about me, and it was like, Kill that bitch. And I was like shitting bricks.”

  53. yes says:

is that the combative interrogation he is talking about??????…maybe thee combative part has not come as yet….

  54. Trained Observer says:

I think Dunn got deduced by these cops and their “‘we’re right there with you” demeanor on sleep deprivation into thinking everything would be A-OK.

    • Trained Observer says:

      seduced. .

      • Two sides to a story says:

Yeah – they were really friendly with his girlfriend too – obviously people will chat it up if they don’t feel threatened.

        • lurker says:

Wait–I thought he said he forgot to tell them about the gun because of the mean way they were “interrogating” him!

      • Malisha says:

I think the main drug that was acting on Dunn to make him believe he was doing fine with the cops and that he would be A-OK as soon as he described his version was good old white male privilege. He didn’t even consider the possibility that they wouldn’t “work with him” on making all the bad stuff go away.

        • Two sides to a story says:

          Fer sure.

          • towerflower says:

You got that right, Dunn didn’t have a PD telling everyone present and to each other not to worry because it was self defense. What a difference it makes between a smaller town and a big city PD.

  55. yes says:

dunn also lied and said that rhonda told him to keep the gun in the car…..she denied that….she said she never told him to leave the gun in the car…….

  56. hat interview should have stopped right there.

  57. Back in Session.

    Detective Musser

He’s going to lay the foundation to introduce the audio/video tape of Dunn’s interview.

  58. ay2z says:

Did y’all catch one of the discussed redactions of this video, that Dunn’s video discussion of his past DUI will NOT be in evidence.

Judge says “you mean we are going all the way thru trial with no jail calls??’

    Detective Musser Please…

  59. disappointed says:

I think Rhonda is praying that Dunn goes to prison so she can get away from him. I think she is silently terrified of the killer. Hence the no he never said anything about a gun, the neighbor called us. Dunn constantly makes Rhonda sound party to the killing but I believe she was/is terrified of him. Ignorant as it may sound that’s what I think.

  60. Rachael says:

Yep, she is no Shellie Z.

  61. yes says:

I understand that she could not lie on tht stand ate she gave her report stating that her husband never told her about a gun…but she could have lied to the police about her husband telling he he saw what appeared to be a gun……I consider myself an honest individual but I am wondering if I would lie to prevent my huband from going to prison for life…..I would probably justify it by telling myself that he was nervous he probably forgot to tell me that he say a gun …….she is brutally honest

  62. yes says:

well at least she’s not like shellie Zimmerman who said under oath that she had never in her life seen her husband get angry when the truth is that they were I an argument that same weekend and she went to live with her dad….

  63. 15 minute recess. Did you catch that rebuttal? Rhonda Rouer just testified that Dunn never once mentioned a gun, stick pipe, shotgun, or weapon of any kind from any of the boys. This is his fiance, and this is absolutely devastating to what he just testified to: that there was a shotgun and four shooters.

    • Trained Observer says:

Devastating and then some. That string of “no’s” was lethal.

      • Yes, and as it turns out, in response to prior questions from Liza and blushedbrown, holding back the Rouer gun testimony until rebuttal was strategy, to force Dunn to take the stand. And, they just blew him up.

      • Rachael says:

No wonder she is so freaked out – she isn’t backing up his story at all!

        • blushedbrown says:

          @Rachael

I don’t think he ever threaten her or mistreated her. I think IMO that she knew what he did was wrong, he didn’t even try to justify to her at the hotel, or the drive home that he was in the right sorta speak. IMO she felt that she should tell the truth and nothing but the truth, because that is what a normal person does. I think the crying is for the victims not for him or her. That somebody died because of him. She even stated in her police video that she thought, but did not say to him. “What were you thinking you asshole!?” or something to that effect. But anywho just my thoughts………………

          • lurker says:

Dunn said she doesn’t understand self defense. If self defense means shooting up an SUV full of kids because you don’t like their music, then I guess I don’t either.

    • She also said that his incoming call from his neighbor was on speaker and she said Michael Dunn said nothing about the murder or needing to talk with the “law enforcement” (aka Agricultural Department) about “something important” as he had testified.

      • Oh my God, wow. I missed that.

        • ay2z says:

Yes, it was a wonderful moment!! On speaker!! She could testify directly as to what was said on both sides of the phone conversation!

Lies, exposed lies…. close, stubble rubbing lies!

          • ay2z says:

She was smart enough to be more correct in her response, afterall, the state knows how to quickly get a hold of the ag officer, Ken for his recollection of the same call!

      • Trained Observer says:

Hope springs eternal when reality sets in … Dunn thought he’d gotten away with it, or at least he was still hoping he had. Likely thought his biggest problem was coercing Rhonda to keep her mouth shut and not blab the world. . .

    • ay2z says:

Yup, and on her mind while they drove away, was ‘What the heck were you thinking ‘ (paraphrase). She said she was fearful of being arrested herself, and she obviously didn’t want to challenge the shooter by questioning his actions as she wanted to.

Loved her last answer to Stollo– she was being careful to get it right, not first thinking to be careful to answer in the smartest way for her man by agreeing confidently ‘yes’.

She said something like ‘I suppose so’.

Michael began to rub his cheek and then rub his chin, as if checking the closeness of his shave.

    • Dave says:

Strolla wants the jury to believe that the emotional Ms Rouer forgot that the man she loves told her that a thug armed with a shotgun had just threatened to kill him. Good luck with that one!

    • Fester Addams says:

Seems pretty devastating to me. That and blowing up all that “wanting to talk to my neighbor who’s in federal law enforcement first” stuff.

So, was he expecting her to lie for him?

  64. Recess to 3:30 pm EDT

The video hasn’t arrived in the building.

  65. Trained Observer says:

After this INCIDENT? Does Strolla mean the murder and three attempted murders?

  66. Rhonda sought counseling, but she didn’t call 9-1-1.

    • ay2z says:

She stated in her interview, her confidently given, non upset police interview, that she didn’t want to confront Dunn after the incident and while driving to the hotel, as she didn’t want to say what was on her mind, which was ‘What were you thinking?!!” (about shooting)

  67. Here come those tears again…

  68. ay2z says:

Time to serve PEACH cobbler! Im-peach ment cobbler.

  69. Rhonda Rauer

    Ken Lescollet called Dunn.

Dunn never mentioned that he was involved in a shooting or that he had something important to discuss with him.

Dunn never mentioned a gun or weapon of any kind to Raurer.

That’s what we call “devastating impeachment.”

  70. Two sides to a story says:

We can say a lot of things about Rhonda, but we can’t call her a liar.

  71. She may be crying but she is cooking his goose.

  72. Trained Observer says:

Has she ever considered grabbing a pair of scissors and trimming those sloppy looking bangs?

  73. She pisses me off. Drama queen.

  74. fauxmccoy says:

oh help me rhonda — let’s turn on the water works!

  75. sparger says:

    is this woman already crying?

  76. Back in session with Rhonda Rouer, this will be about the so-called gun the boys never had.

  77. Trained Observer says:

    Oh, another dose of Rhonda.

  78. The prosecution also has one witness to call (don’t know whom).

That testimony should be pretty short.

Judge Healey is waiting for the final redacted video to arrive, so it’s ready to play.

Then the State will put the witness on the stand and proceed with the video after the witness is finished.

That will conclude the testimony, except for a couple of stipulations about contents of phone calls.

Closing arguments will start tomorrow morning with 2.5 hours allocated to each side.

  79. Trained Observer says:

    This should be fascinating.

  80. BTW, the jury is out of the courtroom while this discussion is taking place.

The State is going to play the video of the interview.

With the redactions, it will run about 45 minutes.

    • blushedbrown says:

      @Mason

Do you think this statement put the final nail in the coffin?

Dunn says, “Whether it was 10 hrs. or 10 days, it didn’t matter.

    • racerrodig says:

I loved it where the Judge made Duuhhnnn stay put until the jury was out as Strolla was trying to have him walk past the jury to parade the leg brace.

Oh, and Davis threatened Duuhhnnn “like a man” Really ??

Then there was that classic “How many pellets does a shotgun expend” “..a minimum of 9” “….so firing that many bullets is a counter to a shotgun blast” “yep”

      Shit……maybe they had a minigun……how would that look……what if the brandished a slingshot ??

      This guy is plain crazy.

  81. yes says:

so according to dunn does the bullet holes prove that Jordan was getting out of the truck??????????

  82. colin black says:

Will there be a self defence instruction based on dunns mythical magical thinking concerning non existant shotguns?

  83. Prosecution wants to introduce Dunn’s statement to cops with a few redactions to rebut his testimony.

    Strolla has some objections.

  84. towerflower says:

Dunn talked earlier about how he was in fear that they would return but then says that when they watched TV later they weren’t in fear because of the secured elevator (needing swipe card).

So why didn’t you call the police when you were safe in the hotel? He thought he was safe from getting arrested and didn’t bet on a customer getting his plate. I bet he would’ve sold the car too if he hadn’t been caught.

    • Trained Observer says:

They key: They (he more than Rhonda) thought they’d gotten away with it.

And, yes, he would have quietly traded that car and gotten a new plate. Or gotten an Earl Scheib paint job

  85. Prosecution rebuttal case.

  86. bettykath says:

Corey’s outfit is much more appropriate today.

  87. Trained Observer says:

    Motion for acquittal is DENIED.
    As if that’s any surprise….

  88. Defense rests.

    Jury excused for halftime motions.

Defense moves for judgment of acquittal.

    Corey disagrees.

    Motion denied.

  89. Rachael says:

They asked if he was in his right mind that night about everything but at the time he shot!!

  90. racerrodig says:

That bastard said he and the love of his life we grief stricken when they heard there was a fatality and they still didn’t call the police.

He showed no grief in his police interviews at all.

  91. Boyd says:

why would Police be looking for a gun, when they were looking for Dunn that night? Strolla thinks people are stupid.

    • lurker says:

Yep–guess maybe there is a point to calling the police, even when it’s self defense.

    • Dave says:

We’re supposed to believe that the “thugs” tore out of the parking lot in a hail of gunfire with a dead comrade in the back seat and then returned to where they were attacked to ditch their weapon (while their assailant is on the loose and still armed). Doesn’t it occur to anyone that they are the ones who have cause to worry about being followed? The last thing they would want to do is disarm.

      • lurker says:

I can only think about how terrified those kids were–first driving away from the crazy guy with the gun, and then realizing that Jordan was hit.

  92. Dave says:

    The wimp defense!

  93. Two sides to a story says:

I can’t even imagine the agony that Jordan’s parents must be going through right now. : /

  94. lurker says:

Says there were four men in the SUV.

  95. colin black says:

    Did you have the shits?
    Yes I did.
    I suffer from I.B.S..

    IRITTIBLE BIGOT SYNDROME.

  96. lurker says:

He wanted Rhonda to know the TRUTH instead of all the media nonsense.

  97. Trained Observer says:

    Blame the media.

  98. Two sides to a story says:

Oh, lordy, he was crazy with grief. . . righhhhtttt. For himself.

  99. OUCH!

Mr Lescollet, the federal cop called Dunn, not the other way around.

Lescollet called Dunn to ask him if they could get together socially on Saturday afternoon but Dunn said, “No,” because Rhonda wasn’t feeling well.

So much for the I-contacted-law-enforcement-before-they-contacted-me defense.

This means Lescollet will be a rebuttal witness.

  100. lurker says:

Now he says he’s crazy with grief!

  101. He has an awful lot of out-of-body experiences.

  102. concernedczen says:

my feed went out and now guy is done?

he really should have impeached him on much more

  103. lurker says:

Rhonda was in no condition to take care of herself.

Funny he didn’t try to get any help!

  104. Two sides to a story says:

Oops, and he’s looking a little worried now. It’s about time.

  105. towerflower says:

Oops, Dunn never called the neighbor, neighbor called him.

  106. lurker says:

Ooooops, and holey shirt, he didn’t even call the neighbor. The neighbor called him!

  107. Trained Observer says:

Ag guy, according to Dunn “has a shield and everything.”

    Hot damn, but that’s impressive.

  108. lurker says:

And his neighbor in law enforcemenet is with the Department of Agriculture!

    LOL

  109. Sidebar. Thunderpuppy objection to improper impeachment. He is back to trying to stop the bleeding.

  110. colin black says:

He is contradicting himself he said he fired multiple shots at retreating red S U V,
To keep the thugs heads down.

Now he only means to fire once an the other two are instictive an invoulantry>

Get a version an stick to the script stick to the stick.

  111. disappointed says:

Did his neighbor call him after seeing hm on the NEWS? If that is the case than Dunn never called LE. More lies?

  112. lurker says:

OK–Guy just pointed out that he never actually called the police. His neighbor called on his behalf.

  113. Trained Observer says:

Oh, so now it’s “sheer terror” that he was in as he blasted away at those kids.

  114. Two sides to a story says:

Um, you know these thug killer guys like to empty their magazines, especially after Fogen only shot once.

  115. In response to a question from Guy, Dunn just said, “Right, so what’s your point?” This man is pompous!

  116. Two sides to a story says:

He aimed again instead of pointing. Oh wait, he pointed!!!

  117. Trained Observer says:

Dunn: “Right, so what’s your point?”

Oooooh. Dunn, a little tired now, getting combative?

  118. Trained Observer says:

    Here come de letter(s)

  119. blushedbrown says:

Finally Guy! you got him to say it didn’t matter! BOOM!!!

  120. lurker says:

Calling the police didn’t matter–because it was self-defense, so it didn’t matter. Couldn’t turn it into murder. Was only concerned about getting Rhonda to safety before the shit storm came down.

    • Two sides to a story says:

If I were on the jury, that would get me right there. Didn’t matter if it was one day or ten – yeah, dude, doesn’t matter if it’s 25 to life!

    • ay2z says:

yes, lack of caring, and besides, if self-defense legitimately, why the need to delay after drinking except for planning and thinking?

What if the driver had been hit, a frag in the face or lethal, the car could have been driven into an innocent pedestrian or car, careening with a driver incapacitated. And if going in reverse from volley 2, the driver could have been caused to drive back, maybe accelerate into a gas pump.

And about driving into the parking spot next to the durango, the music WAS ON really loud, remember the eye-witness who is on the store video, the general contractor stopping for a fountain drink who didn’t choose to park in that spot because of the same Durango’s loud music?

Shifty story all around. Especially the shooting of Jordan as he was out of the car even one foot out, he would likely not have been able to manipulate the door outwards and draw his foot up and inside once his aorta was destroyed, even if someone can possibly ‘move’, that’s beyond reasonable.

  121. lurker says:

    They’re baaaaaack!

  122. blushedbrown says:

    back on…

  123. We’re back in session.

The juror’s lunches had been delivered. So, they ate and that extended the break.

  124. fauxmccoy says:

for the record — there is no finer group to observe trials than this crowd right here. i missed much of today’s testimony, will watch it on youtube and read along with y’all’s comments as if it were in real time and savor every one of them.

    thanks to all of you.

  125. fauxmccoy says:

i think i’ve had my fill of dunn-splaining … yet i cannot turn away from this train wreck now.

    • Trained Observer says:

Am wondering if Guy will turn the screws on him a little harder after the break (and a chance for prosecution team to analyze dumb stuff he’s said so far. … aim/point, etc.

  126. An expert on guns says this about the Taurus pt92:

“They are above average. Comparable to Beretta as they are made in Brazil with Beretta tools. Magazines (15 rounds, but I think you can buy aftermarket that holds a few more) are interchangeable”

  127. fauxmccoy says:

i’ve got nothing but dead air on the global grind — anyone else? is there a better feed?

  128. colin black says:

that damn rhonda! i’d hate to see what does to her if he ever gets outta the pokey

  129. ChrisNY~Laurie says:

Why is Guy letting Dunn talk so much? I understand that maybe he will say something more to contradict previous testimony or statements, but he seems to be pretty good at lying and explaining things to his benefit. I’m thinking that Guy should stop this and allow him to only answer his questions.

  130. bettykath says:

It seems to me that Dunn’s actions/reactions in the parking lot were more like road rage than fear. He was disrespected and wasn’t gonna take it.

    • crazy1946 says:

      bettykath: Exactly….

    • Trained Observer says:

      Madder than hell.

It would have been easier to start ignition, put car in reverse and get another parking spot or cruise around until Rhonda came out (Or warn her to stay in store until he had a chance to call cops), than to pull out his big-boy gun and shoot like a maniac.

      • Boyd says:

I would have done that or gone into the store.

        • bettykath says:

He couldn’t easily go into the store without moving his car b/c he parked too closely to the SUV. If he moved his car he would have had to have walked too far.

          • Malisha says:

WHen he pulled out, still in fear of the return of the four-thug red SUV, how come he didn’t tell his beloved to duck down so that she wouldn’t get shot????? Those gangsters might reappear with that mythical weapon at any moment!

      • lurker says:

Especially since he–by his description was so calm and in control of himself. Just asked nicely, then said thank you and continued to sit quietly–until “the situation” was spinning out of control, and then he tried to “de-escalate” by pulling quotes from old movies.

    • ay2z says:

      Five stars, bettykath. Nailed it.

Add to that, disrespect by four black thugmusic listeners. No kid will mouth off to ‘him’.

And remember in evidence, testimony of Dunn’s attitudes towards gun control, it’s HIS right to make up a defense scenario. Put time between himself and the action.

And ability to lie– big one– he did not know the Red Durango’s location as he left the same parking lot by the same route, coming up behind the Durango as it was stopped but then turning out of the mall parking lot to the main road.

What, he forget to turn his headlights on? No chance he would not see that Durango stopped, the same Durango he now says might shoot back tohim, yet he drives towards it and does not stop and pull a u turn and squeel the hell out of there and use one of the cell phnes to call 911! (IF he was legitimately in fear of that scenario as he acted that night)

    • J4TMinATL says:

      I can see that too.

  131. lurker says:

Anyone notice any weeping when Mr. Davis was talking about Jordan’s friends sobbing uncontrollably?

  132. ay2z says:

A pilot with a lower back injury, and this guy does ‘aerobatics’ in a small plane but does not do regular sports? Makes sense, little aerobatic planes are designed for pilot cushioning and comfort, right.

  133. crazy1946 says:

Perhaps it is just me, but does it not seem strange that Done Dunn and his GF both needed crying towels while Strolla was questioning them, and as soon as the prosecution started asking questions, it was like the switch for the crying was instantly turned off and they became combative? It would seem that Done Dunn would be better off showing a little emotion and regret while Mr. Guy was grilling him and less anger and hostility… Then again, I suppose the term “the best defense is a good offense” applies… I suppose it shouldn’t bother me that this man shows no sorrow for the murder of a 17 year old child, only anger for being caught…

    • lurker says:

He does seem to show a remarkable lack of remorse.

If the jury is of a mind to think about it, how could you possibly kill someone’s son, face up to their being no evidence of the weapon you believe you saw, and not regret the way that things went down? My response would be–only if you place no value on the lives of certain folks.

  134. bettykath says:

On topic: I think Dunn has made the case that most bigots understand: he was scared. The better question is, was his fear reasonable.

    • Two sides to a story says:

Depends upon how many of the jurors have the same bigoted fears.

    • Yes, is it reasonable? That is the legal standard.

    • lurker says:

I think Dunn has said it himself many times this morning. His overall response was crazy.

BTW–he did slip up once and fall into the language of gun bigots–I have a right to defend myself–when he talked about pointing (not aiming) the gun out the window. He has been very well coached. Everytime the subject of not calling the police comes up he reiterates, “I said I didn’t call them until the next day.” And anything related to motivation is explained as fear for his life or in shock.

      • bettykath says:

Dunn never did call the cops, they called him.

        • lurker says:

Well, he called his neighbor, who knows someone in the Sheriff’s Department. I think that is what he was referring to. But, you’re right. Guy should bring that out.

        • Anne says:

Dunn claims he called his LE friend once they were on the road driving home. I believe that this thought to call his LE friend only came into play AFTER Dunn had seen a news clip on his phone that the Police had a description of his vehicle and the license plate.

        • Boyd says:

okay, I had never heard He called the cops before. I pray Guy gets him on that

    • Rachael says:

I think that it is perfectly reasonable for all racist bigots to be in fear for their life whenever they say a young black male. Especially if he is listening to rap music – then you know for sure he is a thug and is going to kill you.

      @@

    • Trained Observer says:

The even better question: If he was so scared, why didn’t he get the hell out of there, call Rhonda, and tell her to stay inside store until after he’d called the cops?

    • ay2z says:

Fear the basis of his cowardice, but underlying fear turned to anger for his irrational actions and becomes the excuse.

Fear, btw, apparently not experienced in his high stress aerobatic flying for fun. (don’t want to become paralyzed when your plane climbs to a stall and you do a planned free fall, maybe he should rethink flying altogether!!)

(Did that Cessna pass and cut me off in MY AIRSPACE??? HE threatened me, I could hear his thumpin’-thuggin’ base speakers from all the way over past my wingtip. Damned, where’s the cockpit glovebox!! )

    • racerrodig says:

In street terms, when you (Duhhnnn) think “I’m gonna (waste / shoot / blow you away) he had no fear so to me the word reasonable is not a factor.

He had ample amounts of liquid and 9 mm courage going.

      But that’s just me….

    • tblue says:

He wasn’t scared. He was pissed off–like the retired cop who shot the guy in the theater for throwing popcorn at him when they argued over texting.

These self-styled macho guys don’t like being dissed. If they have a gun, they will teach someone not to, as the theater shooter muttered afterward, “Throw popcorn in my face!,” or as Dunn said, “You can’t talk to me like that!”

  135. bettykath says:

I see SMH being used a lot. What does it mean? I’m not bi-lingual. I speak text the same way I speak Spanish, German, and French. I know a few “words” but can’t converse.

  136. Pat deadder says:

What’s with the sweater.Mr Roger’s neighbour Hood.Shit what a douchbag.Guess he loved the dog more than his son who had only seen 3 times in 15 years.

  137. fauxmccoy says:

taking the oldest kid to have braces put on (yippeeee — i have saved long and hard for this day!)

    TG for WIFI!!!

  138. 20 minute recess, off topic is on! Thanks everyone for your generous help today, great thread!

In the news today, Shirley Temple has died at age 85:

    http://www.cnn.com/2014/02/11/showbiz/movies/shirley-temple-child-star-appreciation/

  139. 20-minute recess. Return at 1:20 pm EDT

  140. lurker says:

It occurs to me, if he has issues with the fact that the police didn’t run around checking all of the neighborhood dumpsters for a shot-gun, perhaps he should reflect on the reality that he didn’t bother to call them to report that he had been threatened by a thug with a shotgun that he had then killed.

    • Trained Observer says:

Hello, police? Dumpster alert! Dumpster alert! That Durango I shot up? Well, they had a shotgun and there were for of them, and only one of me. They are still at large, whereas I’m here at the Sheraton.

      • He said the kid was outside the car, when he wasn’t. He said HE remained inside his car, when he didn’t. But the elephant in the room remains: why no 911 call. After all, you never know, the gangsters could be looking to gang-rape Rhonda and the dog, at the hotel.

  141. Boyd says:

he poured himself a rum and coke, where did the rum come from?

      • J4TMinATL says:

        LOL LOUD

      • ay2z says:

lol!! Betcha it wasn’t from a convenience in-room bar stock!

Really, great question. Probably not from a liquor store since the convenience store was used for wine only and they wouldn’t be driving around for two liquor outlets in a strange town while needing to potty the puppy. Bet they both enjoy their rum and coke’s, even the 3 to 4 x 0.25 fl. oz drinkettes from the wedding. Wine could have been to pair with the pizza and movie, (she didn’t like the wedding food so needed something more) with the rum already in a BYOB bottle to round out the night.

Deliberations may begin as early as tomorrow after closing and jury instructions, depending on jury supper arrangements and time left in the day.

    • Malisha says:

THE PUPPY! (Really a St. Bernard rescue dog.)

  142. lurker says:

Ordered pizza to calm Rhonda’s stomach. What a doofus!

  143. It’s always Rhonda’s fault.

    • crazy1946 says:

I would like to see Done Dunn’s face if Mr Guy asked if he realized that due to his statements being so truthful they are considering charging his GF with perjury… Oh what a look that would bring out… Ok, I know wishful thinking….

    • fauxmccoy says:

that damn rhonda! i’d hate to see what does to her if he ever gets outta the pokey!

  144. Rachael says:

LOL – took his dog out, even though he was worried the thugs would come back. This is rich.

  145. Boyd says:

you don;t recall if you’ve ever been to that gas station before.

    no way

  146. Rachael says:

What POSSIBLE “reasonable” explanation could he have for not calling 911 once he got to the hotel? PIZZA???!!! OMG this guy is fricken nuts if he thinks anyone is going to believe this sheeit.

  147. colin black says:

    I Had no knowlage

First truthfull statement he has made.

He had no knowlage then or now.

  148. Trained Observer says:

Dunn: “Just kind of weirded out about everything … “

  149. lurker says:

Rhonda didn’t want him to take the gun into the hotel.

  150. Trained Observer says:

Did you sit in that hotel and wait for the SUV?

    Yeah … a waking nightmare

  151. colin black says:

    BECAUSE OF THE PUPPY.

    • blushedbrown says:

Guy should of ask you waited for the suv?
      Right
Ok if you were in fear of this suy coming back , did you call the police then?
That would of been better I think to remind the jurors again he had an opportunity to call the police, and also he was willing to shoot again if they showed up.

  152. lurker says:

He can’t explain why he didn’t call the police. Just waited for the red SUV to show up.

  153. Admits that he regarded all 4 kids to be thugs and gangsters.

  154. Rachael says:

    This guy (Dunn) is crazy!!!

  155. lurker says:

OK–moving on to why he left.

  156. He shot to kill the driver by shooting him in the head. Let’s get real.

  157. J4TMinATL says:

I would have to acquit right now. That is all. I’m listening more to Dunn than Guy. It doesn’t matter that I know he’s a racist and don’t like his decisions and behavior. I need to look at Leland’s testimony again.

Self defense instruction will be there. I’m tuned out can’t focus on Guy. Ineffective.

    • Eric says:

That’s been your position from the begging. You’ve said nothing surprising or new

      • J4TMinATL says:

No it has not. Didn’t have a “position.”

Sorry you don’t like what I have to say at this point in the trial. That’s your problem not mine.

      • concernedczen says:

thank you eric….j4 needs to take that nonsense elsewhere

so he would acquit a guy where the only evidence supporting his innocence comes from the guy himself after multiple changing stories

witness heard “you’re not going to talk to me like that”…

no other witness heard Jordan cursing or threatening, no weapons found on the boys or in the vicinity

shooter flees the scene and never calls the police

shooter doesn’t even tell his girlfriend that a gun was pointed at him

yet, J4 would have to acquit…thank god he is not on the jury..

        absurd

    • Only time will tell, but I think Guy has Dunn on the run making stuff up and I think that should be obvious to everyone watching.

The jury will decide, of course, and that is why jury selection is so important.

    • Liza says:

Dunn’s story sounds crazy. He would have been better off if he had just said he THOUGHT he saw a gun, cried like a baby, and expressed remorse for taking a life. All of this gangsta stuff is sounding kind of stupid.

      • concernedczen says:

Yes, and it couldn’t be more obvious that he was NEVER in fear for his life as he got out of the car and continued shooting as the boys tried to get away from him

    • Trained Observer says:

Task, tsk. Such myopia. The kids had no weapons other than big mouths a lous sub-woofers. Dunn hauled out his gun and blasted them with 10 bullets, killing one, and missing the three in some sort of miracle. What part of that do you ot get?

  158. Contrary to some others, I like that Dunn is permitted to add to his answer – he always says something that further incriminates himself. It is obvious that this man is lying. If he is not convicted, it will not be because the jurors believe that his life was in danger.

    • J4TMinATL says:

Only thing obvious to me is he is well versed on self defense.

And he shot in the direction of confrontation that Leland confirmed.

      • Two sides to a story says:

But that was a one-line confirmation and the shooting started very soon after that. Dunn describes a confrontation that lasts much longer, including Jordan getting out of the car. If I were on the jury, I wouldn’t buy it. Too many discrepancies.

        • Two sides to a story says:

          *confrontation”

          • J4TMinATL says:

Very valid point. I explained or tried to add a little more to my thoughts above in response to blushed.

This is off top of my head as I watch the trial right now. I’m going to go back over eye witness accounts, dowels, and ME report to confirm that he was in fact sitting in the car when killed.

Dunn put it out there that door could have closed when they backed up. Door lock issue, evidence says no child locks on and Leland says Davis went for the handle and tried to open the door but didn’t. There is something about Leland’s testimony. There were inconsistencies in the boys’ stories as there should be.

Let me also add and those that remember me from discussion during Fogen’s trial will remember me saying this…”claiming you are in fear of your life” is what LEO are trained to say on the stand. It’s an immunity that we provide LE. I once heard maybe a professor say this, “all you have to do is say you were in fear for your life. As an officer you better not shoot unless you are damn sure your life is in danger.”

We trust police for the most part and we give them the benefit of the doubt. Other officers give them the benefit. Not often will anyone let alone LEO admit that they made a mistake…That what they saw was not actually what they saw. We can watch Marshalls in simulated training when they are given a target and scenario and have to make split decisions that are life and death. Interesting stuff.

Point is that we now have relaxed that standard through SYG laws and what not. Self defense for citizens has always been a defense. Your home and your car (castle doctrine). Dunn is no experienced gun owner that is versed in self defense laws but he’s asserting himself to be.

If I carried a gun and was a responsible gun owner who knows how to operate it safely and I carry it on me or in my car…I would want a jury to believe me if I had to protect myself. How do you prove whether someone is in fear? I don’t know the answers to these types of things. What if Dunn admitted I thought I saw a gun and I now realize there was not one and I’m sorry ? I thought I was in danger and in the moment I had to make a split decision under the circumstances and was actually in sound mind.

What and how do we decide going forward who is in fear for his/her life?

Sorry just rambling getting some thoughts out…go easy on me…

          • blushedbrown says:

            @J4T

Hmmm the door locks are making me thibnk. I have to go back. A lot of talk about the child locks. I have a thought but want to gather some more info.

  159. Now we have four shooters sharing one gun.

  160. Trained Observer says:

    Dunn: 4 shooters iin
the car and at least one gun.

Guy: They’re gonna pass it aroud?

    Classic

  161. lurker says:

And nobody fired back. And nobody stuck a gun out the window when they were pulling away.

  162. Guy: “Oh. Okay. So they were going to pass it around?”

  163. Yee old embarrassment-of-riches problem.

Guy has a veritable cornucopia of knock-down, knock-out punches to turn Dunn into a Joe Palooka bop bag.

For maximum effect, he needs to avoid losing the jury’s attention. Too much of a good thing diminishes the effect of each individual thing eventually diminishing the effect of the whole.

  164. Lynn says:

He’s so confused on what getting out of a car means. He needs a Sesame Street Grover lesson. *in grover voice*
    NEAR….FAR.
    IN…OUT.

  165. Boyd says:

wow now he’s trying to tell us they were shooting at his GF.

  166. silk says:

Same crap as the zimmerman trail. Only now they are exploiting the word thug.

  167. colin black says:

So the stick stich is oot the windae noo its a long gun rifle shotgun Im waiting for the silencer little weak pphft an he notices the laser red dot on his heart,

There could have been a 5th thug over the road on a grassy knoll.

  168. Rachael says:

I just got here but WOW

  169. towerflower says:

Happy that the state read his letters? …..I guess he doesn’t see what the rest of us saw in those letters.

  170. Trained Observer says:

He’s happy that “You can understand what i went through …”

Hey, what about Jordan Davis went through, what with a bullet ripping through his liver and all on its way to the aorta.

  171. J4TMinATL says:

    My opinion right now:

He’s going to walk. He’s clear he feared for his life and he shot 3 shots into Davis’ door FIRST. It’s possible he actually did. Inconsistencies are not enough. Hope the jury is turned off by his attitude on the stand. He’s going to walk.

    • blushedbrown says:

I have to agree…… I think Guy fucked up the cross and he got to say way too much!

      • J4TMinATL says:

I would have to acquit right now. That is all. I’m listening more to Dunn than Guy. It doesn’t matter that I know he’s a racist and don’t like his decisions and behavior. I need to look at Leland’s testimony again.

Self defense instruction will be there.

        • blushedbrown says:

          same here JT

          • J4TMinATL says:

He’s talking it out and explaining a story to the jury.

Hope they took really good notes since the state can’t point out inconsistencies that matter.

          • blushedbrown says:

I think he is getting a little better now, but he let him talk a little too much about placing a weapon in the hands of Jordon Davis. I truly hope this jury took good notes and remember that no weapon was found.

          • J4TMinATL says:

Honest question that I don’t know the answer to….evidence suggests no weapon…I’m able to convince my fellow jurors that and we all agree that there was no weapon.

He thinks he saw one. Seeing a gun is key to his self defense because he admits on direct exactly when he felt in fear. He says he wasn’t in fear during confrontation only when he saw and heard barrel hit the door.

So if I know there was no gun but Dunn thinks there was and I look back at testimony is it possible Dunn thought something else was a gun? Yes, if I believe his testimony out of his mouth.

Let’s say I know he saw nothing and thats what I’m going into the jury room with. I have to convince people that Dunn just went nuts for no reasonable reason. I have to believe the worst about someone…..he just went nuts, he didn’t experience any fear and if he did he went cook coo.

That’s kind of where I’m at right now.

I believe Leland’s testimony is key right now.

          • blushedbrown says:

            @JT

Right. You have made a sensible argument. The question now becomes do the jurors believe his testimony against the young men in the car and everyone else’s (police, ME, etc) and their common sense.

Rhonda’s testimony is different then his about a possible weapon.

Jurors are weird in Florida. I think they can’t go on the possibility that “if ” this or if that, he fired multiple shots. He left the scene. etc etc.

We shall see very soon how this goes…..

        • Marsha says:

Why is it so hard to believe that someone would go nuts for ‘no reasonable reason’ when it happens all the time – road rage, a wrong order at MacDonalds, a dispute between roommates over how to cook a pork chop. A witness heard Dunn say, “You are not going to talk to me like that.” That’s the motive.

  172. breelee says:

I’m watching a bit of the killer on the stand. I swore after fogen getting off, I’d never watch another trial. After reading your comments, I had to see this jerk for myself. Right off the bat I get such a different feeling with this trial. Its more professional, no hmmm and hawing, no circus atmosphere.

What just pizzed me off is Guy. He referred to Jordan as a 17 year old child. Why was Trayvon always called Mr. Martin by the prosecution? I think we all know the answer, but I want Guy to see we know what he did. We aren’t fools, and know he and his buds let a child killer walk free.

Kudos for you that are able to go through this again. I think they’ll do it right this time, but I cant forget….or forgive.

    • Trained Observer says:

Breelee, I prefer to hear 17-year-old or a teenager, 17. I think to refer to anyone over twelve as a child is stretching it. That was a big distaction with Trayvon and it doesn’t look like the State learned anything with Jordan.

  173. So, he conveniently announced that he was going to kill you, but he um…didn’t do anything but dive into the car, right?

  174. colin black says:

Not anyone with a gun Is deadly.

    You most certainly are.

  175. towerflower says:

Yes! Bringing up the doors. I had a hard time with this part of his story about JD getting out when the cars are so close together and both cars have swing doors…not sliding doors.

    • Boyd says:

of course he got out of the car, the store clerk pointed him out

      • towerflower says:

Boyd, not Dunn but JD. He commented about how close the SUV parked to him to where he would have a real hard time getting out (before they backed up) but yet, according to him, JD open the door, got out and leaped back into the SUV. Not something you could do with the vehicles parked so close without the door hitting the other vehicle,

        • J4TMinATL says:

Leland and Thompson testified he was small enough and could get out. Not that he did but that he could.

          • Lynn says:

If he got out, even though not one witness said they saw anyone out of the vehicle, he would have had to back up and close the door to advance forward. Even a tiny guy wouldn’t have the space to go around the door, which had to be closed after JD got back in and Dunn fired. Evidence and medical examiner shows trajectory and debris that blew off the door. Did and could are two different things. We know your stance.

          • J4TMinATL says:

            What is my stance Lynn?

  176. J4TMinATL says:

Guy ignoring his statements. Jury is not.

Let me go look at the wheel well.

  177. Dave says:

The windows of the SUV were down. Were they shattered by the bullets that passed throughthe doors?

  178. colin black says:

In other word it could have been a Female or there Mom he didnt care
He was going to fill that car full of non lead free bullets ,

  179. Lynn says:

He did mention singing in his interview.
Nah, I didn’t believe it then either.

  180. colin black says:

He is talking about events an actions takeing much longer than the time scale involved.

  181. lurker says:

The situation was spiralling out of hand. But, Dunn remained completely calm–and thought he could de-escalate the situation.

  182. saneman66 says:

Why the hell is CNN HEadline news showing the tape delay when CNN main network was showing live until noon and then CNN HLN has the audacity to put a live marker on the coverage. Just as we got the prosecution’s more interesting segment, we lose coverage nationally. I don’t want to watch the boring Defense segment

They need to nail him on three big things other than the obvious mistaking thin air for a big fat shotgun
    1) if he was so confident he was acting in self defense, and had no clue he would be charged , and had no idea he killed someone, why did he feel the need to go to his local cops to tell his side? why such cautiousness if it was so open and shut and no one died if one were to believe him that he didn’t think he killed anyone.
    2) If he thought the SUV was going to come to the h0otel looking for him, why the hell did he not call cops asking for protection?
    3) If he was concerned about his girlfriend, why was he unaware of where she was until she pops up next to him after he shot Davis?

  183. J4TMinATL says:

Guy come on… the 3 shots went into Davis’ door first…backs up his claim to a jury so far….stop letting him speak.

  184. colin black says:

Bad boy looking mean at me.

  185. lurker says:

Wait–he was absolutely clear that this was self-defense, but when he talked to the police he left out all the details that might contribute to this being self-defense.

The second guy in the back was just “looking mean.”

  186. More Thunderpuppy at sidebar. Judge Healey likely saying, “Mr. Strolla, let him do his job. It’s not like your client isn’t fucking lying.”

  187. crazy1946 says:

If you watch his father during this testimony, it looks as if his own father is calling rubbish on his own sons words…

  188. Boyd says:

Rather have AC do the questioning. “so then you drove back to the hotel to take care of the little puppy?”

  189. J4TMinATL says:

We can’t have these long breaks….sidebars

    • J4TMinATL says:

Can’t count on jury to care about thug and rap crap and racial issues that are obvious….Guy needs to get his shit together.

  190. colin black says:

music was on but wasnt the heavy thumping base that bothered me!

He answered with a negative instead of positive.

    You TWAT

WASNT THE HEAVY BASE THAT BOTHERED ME

Au contraire the heavy base bothered you immensely .

I know he means he didnt hear the low freqency heavy base at first an when he did it infurated hi mallegedly.

But thats not what his words an verbage are relaying.

Leakage this man needs a plumber.

His story has more holes in it than the thugs red S U V?

  191. lurker says:

Didn’t remember to say that Jordan Davis said “This shit is going down now” until after he had been “interrogated” by the police–until he talked to his lawyer.

  192. Two sides to a story says:

Any music thumps if it’s loud enough.

  193. Boyd says:

funny an airplane engine does not hurt his ears. Figure that one out.

  194. Lynn says:

The door was open, but I don’t know if he was outside.
    Splitting hairs?
You saying he was out with his head above the door. Running back to his car.

Lord! Taaffee was giving this same story last night. He said the doors were proven to be open when he shot because he would have to be shooting out the window at a right angle and backwards when you compare it to the front door.

GZ supporters have an askewed view at evidence.

I have a small sedan like Dunn has. I can not pull up to the concrete barrier in parking places because my bumper isn’t high enough. An SUV has no problem like this and probably pulled all the way in. That would explain why Dunn had a straight shot out his window to the back door as opposed to the front of the SUV.

The boys pulled out and we have the 3 angled shots.

I’ve stated before that if that door was open and the shots went through the open door into Jordan HE WOULD HAVE HAD TO BE FACING THE BACKSEAT AND NOT DUNN IN ORDER FOR IT TO HAVE GONE INTO HIS LEFT SIDE.

OMG. Now he’s lying about saying I hate that Thug music.

  195. Tee says:

He should just throw himself on the mercy of the court because he is getting a spanking being impeached at every word.

  196. J4TMinATL says:

    Come on GUY damn

  197. colin black says:

He had no problem refering to ocupants of the red car as gangsters on direct .

Now on cross is distaceing himself from the term thug ,An yet cant resisist calling there music RAP CRAP to get his biggoted veiw point across.

  198. Strolla is at sidebar, trying desperately to invent a legal basis to keep Guy from disemboweling Dunn, like a deer.

  199. acemayo says:

MD just called his GF a ding bat

  200. It was Rhonda’s idea to get the wine.

It was Rhonda’s idea to go back to Brevard.

It was her idea to call it “thug music:” I would have called it “Rap Crap!”

    ROFLOL.

  201. lurker says:

Rhonda misspoke when she said he talked about thug music. He would have called it “rap crap.”

  202. Guy is resurrecting himself from the ashes of the Zimmerman fiasco.

  203. J4TMinATL says:

    “Rap crap.”

  204. J4TMinATL says:

John Guy needs to hone in on the discrepancies.

  205. Boyd says:

    He is a big liar.
When this first happened I did a little digging to find out about his business, the business had some online complaints about Dunn’s software and Dunn responded to the customer complaint with a very very long rebuttal. What he’s doing is using his lying experience with his customers.

  206. Two sides to a story says:

He can’t say anything more without contradicting himself. Toast.Burnt.Done.

  207. lurker says:

He was coming after me–while diving into the car.

  208. colin black says:

It would have been nice if you could have shown that!

Then I wouldnt have to be up here squirming now.

I have ever confidence in Guy.

  209. sparger says:

He thinks he is smarter than everyone else. He has stopped being sweet and demure.

  210. J4TMinATL says:

Cracked. Dunn cracking. Dunn’s the expert.

  211. Guy: “We’re not done.”

That got a belly laugh out of Fred, even though he is very sick today.

  212. fauxmccoy says:

woke up just in time for john guy’s cross. i still heart john guy, so there!

dunn — what a piece of shit and is having his shit handed to him on a platter to eat with his silver spoon.

  213. J4TMinATL says:

    “Dis DUNN b gud”

  214. lurker says:

    Claims the letter was “therapy.”

  215. J4TMinATL says:

    Guy going for impeachment. Lol.

  216. Now the letter is in evidence, and in the record. Defense obfecs. Overruled. BANG.

  217. J4TMinATL says:

    Lol. This is good.

  218. Dunn is now simply straight-up lying. And he is stitched up good.

  219. Knock-out punch right out of the box is always a good tactic.

  220. J4TMinATL says:

    The letters?

    They were therapy.

  221. colin black says:

    All BLACK THUGS AN GANGSTERS

Have the ability to read minds an foresight to know where random strangers live.

So will know were to come an get ya in there red car.

  222. Boyd says:

ha ha you weren’t there. get his temper going.

  223. lurker says:

Rhonda was waiting for the police to show up. She was a wreck because Dunn fired into a van full of people. She was more upset when she found out someone was dead. He is waffling on the issue of having told Rhonda about the gun they supposedly had. Admits it didn’t come up very much.

  224. J4TMinATL says:

    He’s CRACKING.

    Let’s go Guy!!!!

  225. J4TMinATL says:

You were waiting for the red SUV…..? WTF

  226. Boyd says:

she told police he never said anything about a gun

    • Liza says:

The cops made a big deal of it in her interview, the one taped several days after the shooting. Made her say it multiple times and then asked her again in the sworn statement. Crystal clear, there can be no misunderstanding.

  227. Cross by John Guy.

    Bang!

This is why they held back Rouer’s statement to the cops that Dunn never mentioned that the boys had a gun.

  228. J4TMinATL says:

    Bring RHONDA back out….bet she’s watching this….

Hear his inflection when answering John Guy.

  229. colin black says:

    They They
I Mean he after all they are all the same.

  230. MDH says:

Dunn is a window into the dark recesses of the minds that found George Zimmerman not guilty.

How many time did we hear Dunn brains in the media say that Trayvon should not have been walking around dressed like a thug?

A hoodie, tan pants and white sneakers are casual attire, unless one’s mind is filled with garbage.

A car of gun toting thugs?

NYC has been racially profiling black males for years. They actually find a higher rate of gun possession amongst the few white males they stop and frisk.

Has common sense become the shit that went down the toilet?

I would assume that black males, because they know they get targeted for illegal searches by law enforcement or assholes like Zimmerman, are less likely to be armed.

  231. Here it comes. Incoming. He is going to get owned.

  232. lurker says:

Rhonda was upset over what he had done. She doesn’t understand self-defense.

  233. disappointed says:

After the shooting didn’t Dunn flee the same direction as the kids in the car? If he believed there were 4 potentials shooters why not exit at the other entrance. By the point he drives away quickly he testified he had put gun up.

  234. colin black says:

He sounds incredulass that they are makeing such a big deal over his Faux Pa reaction to the THUGS reaction to his common courtacy.

After all he didnt raise his voice before fire his weapon an trying to kill them all.
An sucseeding in murdering an innocent teen.

He thinks its sureal to be arrested for it!

    • Malisha says:

Remember, Fogen did that very polite thing too. He said, in answer to, “You got a fucking problem, homie?” only: “No, I don’t have a problem.” Totally polite. Spot. Identify as “up to no good.” Call a “suspect.” Follow and not-follow. Go in same direction as. Reach for cell phone to dial 911 about. Politely answer, then “fire[] one shot” and kill. Smirk, shrug, giggle.

  235. Lynn says:

I’m not sure why we arrested Dunn with all that common courtesy and making sure the teens didn’t shoot up any people at the gas station going on.

What I want to know is how they overlooked the real criminal? Rhonda. Strolla is making it seem like Rhonda is the evil one. She wanted the wine. She needed food. He ordered the pizza for her. He had to go pick it up downstairs. He had to use that cool keycard to get in the elevator. She made me take her home. Fits of silence and Fits of crying I tell you!

Is the jury believing any of this? Is the defense wanting us to believe because he didn’t fly out of the country that he’s not guilty?

  236. J4TMinATL says:

Jurors intently watching Dunn and Strolla. Several taking notes.

  237. lurker says:

Had his neighbor call someone at Sheriff’s Dept “he could trust.”

    • acemayo says:

Why would the local cops be untrustful

      • Malisha says:

Cops he knew and rubbed shoulders with (and was in flying clubs with) back home could be “trusted” to do what Fogen’s local cops did, perhaps? Perhaps his local cops would have said, as did the SPD, “there was no evidence that it was not self-defense.” He doesn’t trust cops who won’t give him a pass when he kills some African American. That’s what I hear.

  238. Boyd says:

what is it with all this drinking, he’s drinking wine now

    • fauxmccoy says:

ha ha ha ha — i’m a tee totaler myself these days. i try not to care too much about anyone’s drinking but my own, or lack thereof, but this dude’s a total lush.

  239. Odd that it was only self-defense the next day. When the cops called.

  240. colin black says:

If you genuinely beleived you had stood your ground an did NOTHING WRONG.

Why flee like the beejesuss you ran because you had fired at unarmed teenagers in a car.In a public place.

You knew they were unarmed as a coward thats why you had the courage of drink fuelled anger an a weapon .To vent your hatered on them. THUGS! GANGSTERS!

He thought he had a chance to ellude capture for his criminal actions.

    • 100 percent spot on. He gambled that nobody would see that plate.

      • Liza says:

He knew they had a description of his vehicle from the early reports on TV. So he had to know it was a matter of time before the cops came calling, but he thought he had more time. I strongly suspect that the conversation in that vehicle on the way back to Satellite Beach was about money and Mexico.

      • Liza says:

But, of course, it could also have been about cooking up his SYG self-defense story, or perhaps both.

  241. Note: In his jailhouse letters, he basically said, ‘Boy if more people would shoot thugs like this we wouldn’t have these problems.’

  242. crazy1946 says:

Thought for the episode… If Done Dunn was so much in fear of the “Gangsters” coming to the motel to harm he and his GF, then two small points, first is why did he not reload the gun? Second, why did he leave gun in glove box of car instead of bringing it to the room for protection….

  243. J4TMinATL says:

    Strolla…. carry on…

  244. lurker says:

Hard to get Rhonda to understand this.

No belief that he might be charged with murder.

He could have flown away (I think that’s where Stolla is leading), but he didn’t.

  245. acemayo says:

He say he could trust the local cops

  246. Trained Observer says:

” I knew I had don nothing wrong but it was hard to get her to understand that …”

What a classic: Even dummy Rhonda knew better than that.

  247. lurker says:

First phone call is to a neighbor who has connections in his local sheriff’s department. Because he wanted someone who would listen to his side.

  248. J4TMinATL says:

    Rhonda said “take me home”

    We we we we we

  249. YQ says:

I think Dunn is in huge trouble at cross, hope John Guy goes hard!

  250. Lynn says:

Admitted he had a little inflection in his voice since he slipped up and admitted he cursed once.

He didn’t fall asleep until 5am? Ms. Rouer said at 7 he was already awake with the TV on.

The news reported nothing. He had to get the info on his phone?

Jacksonville has many early news programs. Good Morning Jacksonville.

  251. lurker says:

When Rhonda found out that her fiance killed someone she wanted him to take her home.

  252. Trained Observer says:

    I

  253. This drama-queen vomiting in the bathroom is a bit over the top, Thunderpuppy.

  254. Tee says:

Who orders pizza to relieve an upset stomach or knotted stomach? Soup is what one orders. Smh! They think we are stupid, he ate pizza and watched a movie.

  255. Liza says:

I’m not watching, I just can’t. I’ll catch up after the cross. But it sounds to me like Dunn has seen lots and lots of bad movies on TV.

  256. lurker says:

Stunned and horrified at how things escalated over a common courtesy. But they didn’t bother to call the cops.

  257. J4TMinATL says:

    DUNN was STUNNED

  258. Trained Observer says:

We were stunned … horrified … couldn’t believe things escalated the way they did over a common courtesy.

Oh, aren’t you just Mr. Smoothe, you asshole. .

  259. “Rhonda was visibly quaking.”

  260. Trained Observer says:

    “We were both so upset”

    She was quaking.

    That’s why he poured alcohol.

  261. J4TMinATL says:

    Is there any hotel video?

I don’t have confidence in John Guy.

  262. lurker says:

Poor little Charlie didn’t get a “walk,” he only got to “go to the bathroom.”

  263. Well that was a Freudian slip:

“We might be in trouble with the local gangsters, but not the police.”

So now, in the world according to Dunn, the mathematics charter school star athlete high school boy is a “gangster.”

Why? Because he has black skin. Isn’t that right, Mr Dunn, you pathetic bigot.

  264. Boyd says:

Strolla and Dunn do not realize He was the shooter, Shooting at people, in an era of the mass killer gunman, everyone at that store was afraid of the shooter….

  265. Two sides to a story says:

Lie 246 – does this guy not know how these add up to – hmmm, hell realms, for instance.

  266. lurker says:

Trying to convince Rhonda that he was not in trouble with the law, but he might be in trouble with the local gangsters.

  267. acemayo says:

But they never shot at him
    No gun was found
No one saw what he saw

  268. lurker says:

Went to the clubroom at the hotel to be on the lookout for the return of the red SUV.

  269. Lynn says:

Leland said JD was pointing with his right hand while left arm rested on backseat. Could that 4 inch barrel Dunn saw be a finger of an African American kid? Hope that comes up.

    • J4TMinATL says:

I need to rewatch his testimony now.

Leland also said Davis tried to open back door.

    • Malisha says:

that 4 inch barrel Dunn saw

      was not a finger.
      It was not a stick.
It was not even a figment of Dunn’s imagination.
It was, and remains, a lie.
He didn’t see it or “see” it or imagine he saw it.

He came from the wedding enraged and desiring to kill in order to restore his testosterone levels. So he did. He thought he’d get away with it but he didn’t. Probably.

  270. He fired at the fleeing vehicle because he thought they might shoot at him or Rhonda while fleeing.

He fled because he thought they might return with friends.

  271. His so-called fear is totally unreasonable. If he was really scared, he would have called 911 and not the pizza man.

  272. Girlp says:

What gun? They did not have a gun and Jordan never got out the car, I hope the state has a rebuttal this time. Using Fogen’s alleged defence to try to get out of this.

  273. Boyd says:

he’s already so full of shit and we have fleeing the scene and not calling police excuses still to come.

Aircraft Pilot in a panic. he he he

    • Lynn says:

Would you want to get in a plane with him? What with his propensity for panic, tunnel vision, and his gimpy 2 finger grip?

      • fauxmccoy says:

Hahahahahahaha … No, I would not want to get into a pedal car with this guy. I will say though that one of my dad’s best friends was a high paraplegic courtesy of Korea who was a very accomplished pilot as well as a part Olympics gold medalist in archery. This is the man that absolutely instilled my love for both archery and aviation.

  274. lurker says:

Getting to safety meant getting in the car and driving away. Not going inside the store and calling the cops. Feared retaliation.

  275. Lynn says:

Far enough away that I couldn’t AIM effectively.

Aim or point? Pick one or the other.

  276. lurker says:

    Three or four potential shooters.

  277. Tee says:

His attacker! His drunk butt, who the hell atacked him. I am so tired of this bs. He is a child killer just like zimmerman and I hope God show neither of their butts mercy. They have no sense to even pretend to be sorry!

  278. Boyd says:

    he’s in fantasyland.

  279. lurker says:

Shot three times into back of fleeing vehicle.

  280. He wasn’t cryin when he told the cops about the ‘thug music.’ He wasn’t cryin when he wrote all those vile, racist jailhouse letters.

  281. J4TMinATL says:

” I did open my door.”

The Durango was behind him… right…Durango has to back up to get out the space.

    Says “they fire at him.”

  282. Girlp says:

He didn’t aim he pointed um that’s aiming.

  283. Lynn says:

    A byproduct of the tunnelvision.

  284. Trained Observer says:

“I didn’t realize the SUV was moving at first. I was still AIMING at the rear passenger

  285. J4TMinATL says:

    “I didn’t aim, I pointed.”

“I was fighting for my life.”

Where was Davis? You said he stepped out of the Durango.

  286. Boyd says:

fighting for my life. He’s crazy.

  287. “I didn’t aim, I pointed.”

  288. lurker says:

    He didn’t aim, he pointed.

  289. WTF with a demonstration now. The jury can surely see/hear the leg irons they spent so much time with the judge not to see/hear?

  290. Trained Observer says:

    “I didn’t aim, I pointed”

  291. Unabogie says:

Creepy smile. Another sociopath who’s loving his murder trial.

  292. Trained Observer says:

Ick … don’t let this killer let his hands get too close to me.

  293. J4TMinATL says:

    Finger injury….still shot 10 rounds.

  294. Lynn says:

Damaged right finger. Wants the jury to see it.

    HAHAHAHAH

    Just like Jodi Arias’ finger.

  295. sparger says:

He has a lot of medical problems. He could barely hold the gun.

  296. Liza says:

    Mr. Leatherman,
Now that Dunn is getting his (fictitious) story out there, will the prosecution come back with the girlfriend’s sworn statement, that Dunn never mentioned a gun to her?

  297. lurker says:

Shooting at the door because that is where the threat was coming from.

  298. Trained Observer says:

Dunn: “How can I describe this???”

Yeah, how can you best make up a bunch of bull?

  299. J4TMinATL says:

    Said the video was “impressive”

    Now crying.

Is this the video he clapped about?

Tunnel vision fear that MN mentioned.

  300. Lynn says:

You’re not gonna kill me Son Of A Bitch!…sounds nothing like…You’re not going to talk to me that way!…that we have witnesses saying he said.

  301. Two sides to a story says:

Jeezus, sorry for swearing – this man looks and sounds like Mr. Rogers on acid.

  302. lurker says:

“You’re not gonna kill me, you sonofabitch!”

  303. J4TMinATL says:

Dunn says DAVIS got out of the Durango…he stepped out of the vehicle…OUT of the car….OUT

    Right….

  304. lurker says:

Pointing in the direction of my attacker.

  305. Tee says:

Saw a shot gun heard a death threat but didnt grab his gun I’m ROTF LMAO!

  306. Unabogie says:

Just tuning in for the first time on this trial. It’s uncanny how much his defense resembles Zimmerman’s. It’s all about “SCARY BLACK THUGS” being so menacing that innocent white armed men should be able to shoot unarmed black kids with impunity whenever they make you nervous.

  307. Trained Observer says:

Two daughters with wife after Ms. Molinaro.

  308. Lynn says:

He said it. He opened the door and got out of the car. He cleared the window frame.
Did Dunn see his 145 lb body and got scarred?
It was at this point he feared for his life and wanted to stop chit chatting with the boys and reach into the glovebox and get his gun.
Wouldn’t Davis have been in his window choking him by this timeframe.

  309. Boyd says:

gun grips? okay, this guy is a gun freak. I bet he’s dreamed of shooting people.

  310. Two sides to a story says:

Wish we could see the jury’s faces. I’d have trouble keeping a straight face at this point.

  311. A clear and present danger??

    GTFOOHWTFBS.

You shot him in the back, as they were fleeing.

  312. Boyd says:

I wish I had timed the amount of time his GF was in the store till the shots.

  313. J4TMinATL says:

“You’re not going to kill me ” Dunn says to Davis and goes for his gun.

  314. lurker says:

He believes there is a clear and present danger, removes his gun and says you’re gonna die.

  315. Trained Observer says:

True enough … Dunn is headed down the toilet with each passing fart and lie.

  316. “This shit is going down, now.”

  317. J4TMinATL says:

Young man gets out of Durango and says “this shit is going down now.”

“I don’t know what his inten…actually his intentions were very clear.”

Says he stepped out of the car.

  318. sparger says:

Your’e dead bitch. Hmm is someone a fan of Breaking Bad? At least he has more current pop references than Zimmerman.

  319. lurker says:

The kid gets out and says “this shit’s going down now. . .” and gets out WITHOUT the shotgun. WTF?

    • YQ says:

LOL! I was think the same thing. Where is the gun?

      • Trained Observer says:

If Jordan got out with his shotgun, why didn’t Dunn blow him away then and there ,,, outside the Durango Could it be a:) he didn’t make a move to exit vehicle and b:) he had no weapon whatsoever other than his mouth.

  320. Two sides to a story says:

Pul-leeeeezzz. This guy’s commentary is worse than Fogen’s, if that’s possible.

  321. Trained Observer says:

The more Dunn embroiders the better cross is going to be …

  322. Boyd says:

It’s almost the same line george Zimmerman gave you gonna die tonight

  323. “Are you talking about me?” he asked.

JD reached down toward the floor. He pulled something up that looked like the barrel of a shotgun. He slammed it against the door and Dunn saw the top 4 inches of a barrel.

He still didn’t reach for his gun. “I was incredulous.”

JD popped open the back door.

“I’m going to kill you bitch.”

But I still didn’t reach for my gun.

    • Malisha says:

Wait: The kids have been threatening his life for about ten paragraphs before he asks, “Are you talking about [to] me?” and only AFTER he speaks those words, those killer thugs reach for their gun? How come they didn’t have it out when they started planning his death? Like rational killer thugs always do?

  324. lurker says:

He says he is thinking “where is all this hostility coming from?” Excellent question. Perhaps the hostility is exaggerated, or perhaps he exacerbated the situation.

  325. Boyd says:

not one witness can testify to anything this man has said. Makes me sick that all this is based on the invisible shotgun

    • MDH says:

Sadly, there was not one witness to back up what Zimmerman said about the initial encounter, and there was an ear witness to debunk it, yet the jury, in that farce, swallowed the lie hook, line and sinker.

In this trial, we at least have more eye witnesses to prove the lie. And a PD that is working with, not against, the prosecution.

  326. YQ says:

    “You’re dead, bitch”

    “You’re gonna die tonight!”

What is this, a B movie?

  327. Dave says:

    He didn’t consider driving away?

  328. J4TMinATL says:

“You’re dead bitch.” Saw back door open a little. Was in fear for his life but wasn’t ready to use deadly force.

  329. Lynn says:

This is such an obvious line of BS to me. I’m thinking the jury will see it.
Rhonda Rouer mentioned that they threw f-bombs back and forth. He must have told her what he said when he got in the car because she didn’t hear anything.
He is adding the something cracker blah blah and a whole conversation that no one else has mentioned.
    I’m gonna fucking kill you.
    You’re dead bitch.
    A sentence with mother fucker.
Just how long were they talking?
Is he gonna leave off the no one is going to talk me like that?

Prosecution can recall Rhonda. Will she commit perjury for her man?

  330. Tee says:

Are you serious! Can you say liar

  331. Two sides to a story says:

Mr. Dunn, we are incredulous because your story doesn’t pass the smell test.

  332. YQ says:

Said that the windows were extremely tinted, but also said he was able to see what he thought could be a shotgun from the back window of the Durango???

  333. Girlp says:

Funny how he saw a gun he’s familar with….hmmmm

  334. J4TMinATL says:

“Yeah I’m going to fucking kill you” and saw 4 inches of a shotgun.

Was in fear for his life. Frozen in his seat.

  335. lurker says:

He is either a pathological liar or he is in such deep denial that he has constructed an alternate reality that he actually believes happens.

    • Malisha says:

I’ll put money on the “pathological liar” option.
He has only the “alternate reality” that he wants to get off.

  336. Two sides to a story says:

Dunn should shut up – his fairy tale is getting more bizarre now.

  337. Girlp says:

Now it’s something he is lying.

  338. Two sides to a story says:

Holy smokes. I hope this jury is on the ball. This guy is all over the place, but . . .

  339. J4TMinATL says:

Saw 4 inches of a barrel…12 or 20 guage shotgun.

    Heard it hit the window

  340. Trained Observer says:

Again, how is Dunn seeing all this action behind tinted windows …. especially with him in driver’s seat and Jordan in back seat of the Durango.

Talk about making it all up after the fact.

  341. Tee says:

The fiancé said in her interview that both of them were throwing around f bombs.

  342. Robert DeNiro, not Al Pacino, you effing idiot:

  343. acemayo says:

MD is so polite and black kids are so rude

  344. sparger says:

    Menacing expressions equals being black.

  345. “Could you guys turn it down.”

He said, “thank you,” after the music was turned down.

Then F-bombs and someone turned up the thumping base.

    More swearing at him.

He tries to ignore it, but then he hears, “I should kill that motherfucker!”

    • tblue says:

He is doing what Bill O’Reilly did when talking about his visit to a black owned restaurant. He is reciting the sort of statement he imagines must always issue from the mouths of black “thugs.”

O’Reilly was amazed that the restaurant’s customers weren’t all shouting, “Gimme some more iced tea, motherf***er!” Dunn is making up the sort of statement he assumes all those “thugs” regularly make right before blowing away a polite, innocent white gentleman.

  346. Trained Observer says:

If the Durango’s windows were tinted so dark … and with all the passengers being black … how is it he could see which kid was saying what?

  347. J4TMinATL says:

    “We should kill this motherfucker”

“I should fucking kill this motherfucker”

  348. acemayo says:

You take your back to them went to the car load your gun
started shoot and no one shoots back

  349. sparger says:

He is deaf in one ear, the music is super loud and he can hear threats to his life.

  350. lurker says:

I keep returning to the things he said in his prison letters. Compared to the image he is attempting to create now. Mild-mannered, please and thank you, no response to f-bomb and so forth. Compare to claim of being railroaded. Black jurors would not be fair. Someone should shoot up some more of these thugs, and so forth.

  351. Two sides to a story says:

    Flipping liar.

  352. Dave says:

    Creepy-Ass Cracker!

  353. Lynn says:

    He’s using the CRACKER defense?

  354. Trained Observer says:

    “Now it got ugly …”

Well, yes, murder does tend to be ugly. You shot this kid cold.

  355. J4TMinATL says:

Hmm my significant other is deaf in one ear and partially deaf in the other but he damn sure knows what % he can hear out of that ear.

  356. acemayo says:

Did he tell the kids you have bad ears drums

  357. acemayo says:

Did anyone time how long it takes to get to the nearest dumper
and back to the gas station

    • Lynn says:

It would be longer than the 60 seconds that the brother/sister duo said they were out of their car with suv driver in full view by both and the passenger in view 100% by brother and partially seen by sister.

  358. Dave says:

If the music was so loud how did they hear each other?

  359. It was Rhonda’s idea to stop and purchase a bottle of wine.

  360. Trained Observer says:

In Satellite Beach, he’s asked people to turn music down.

So a track record of bullying.

  361. Boyd says:

There you go, Not guilty, the music was rattling everything.

  362. Tee says:

Smh! His fiancé said he had been there before but he said he didnt know the area and never been there.

  363. Trained Observer says:

    Pulled in
    Closest spot to the door.

At some point did you hear loud thumping bass?

    Yes, I did.

Do you recall if other spot s were available.

It was take this spot next to the door or take this spot just way far away.

I knew she was getting wine. The chips were a surprise.

    I just heard the thumping.

Didn’t hear lyric. “just the base.”

  364. Boyd says:

Being a 30 year software developer. I’m really skeptical of his 22 years of software experience. configuring cash registers is not software development.

    • Trained Observer says:

Right … computer programmer can be fairly basic compared to software development that can be a far more sophisticated endeavor. Apparently he likes to fluffing up his resume.

    • fauxmccoy says:

You can read serious complaints about his business online. My husband and I found it pretty damn funny. He sets up networks using completely inappropriate hardware and software.

  365. lurker says:

    Loud, thumping bass.

  366. Tee says:

    Everything is Rhonda’s idea

  367. Trained Observer says:

Rhonda wanted a bottle of WHITE wine.
She didn’t eat much at wedding … “picked around her plate.”

Stopped at Gate because “it was the first place we saw.”

    Gate “not very far.”

  368. lurker says:

Stopping at a gas station for a bottle of white wine. Classy.

  369. BTW, we would like to thank our readers for excellent help on covering this. We are trying to figure out how to get Fred to a doctor, and so we very much appreciate the help on this.

  370. acemayo says:

    The GZ defense I am a p-cat
    I can’t fight I need an gun

  371. Boyd says:

3 or 4 drinks. if you had so few you would remember the exact amount of drinks. he’s lying, spent too much time hemming and hawing about it, and everyone knows what “a couple” means. 2.

  372. Trained Observer says:

    They had a full buffet?
Did you go back for seconds?
    I think I did.

    Conversations with family and friends.
We left early … I apologized for leaving early
I had said that we would have to take off early because Charlie would need a potty break.

  373. Did you bring a flask?

    No.

Q: Who the hell takes a flask to a wedding?

  374. Trained Observer says:

Did you go to bar to get Rhonda a drink? Yes. She prefers white wine, but they had none.

  375. lurker says:

He had 3-4 drinks, but they were itty-bitty ones.

  376. Trained Observer says:

Drinks at wedding. Not many, but they were small.

  377. My take is, he seems sort of prepared to go to prison- the emotional response.

  378. acemayo says:

They trying to say he is human
The person he shot is not

  379. lurker says:

Spent every weekend with his dad–but only saw his son 3X growing up.

  380. Trained Observer says:

Did you bring alcohol into hotel?
Yes … we brought our own supplies.
    Expensive to drink at bars?
Yes, that and it was Thanksgiving weekend and everything would be closed. (NOT IN FLORIDA, DUDE!!!)

    • Thank you, interesting. We live in a really wet, semi-dry county here, so all the alcoholics either lay in supplies in advance of a weekend/Sunday, or else, they drive to Illinois and spend money there, on Sunday- true.

  381. YQ says:

Strolla trying to pursue character developement… Dunn is now a software programmer of 22 years who likes dogs and lives in a very friendly neighborhood-and he loves his fiance. SMH.

  382. lurker says:

Sorry, but I think all this focus on the puppy–Charlie–is going to backfire. Poor Charlie is more important than somebody else’s son(s) who he shot up.

  383. acemayo says:

What he did years ago does not matter
If it does not relate to the case
    OMG my he is crying

  384. nancy =) says:

    is he f#@king crying?!?!?!

  385. Trained Observer says:

    Supplies for the dog?
    Yes, crates and food
Was this dog kind of your guys child?
    Yes
    His name is Charlie
    French bulldog

    • Lynn says:

No idea why but I thought Charlie was a yorkie or such. Something frufie. Bulldog. Really?

      That is half a drink.
Well, it is safe to assume what size strong drinks he fixed at the hotel.

  386. J4TMinATL says:

Crying about a freaking dog. A DOG.

  387. Trained Observer says:

And did you make any arrangements with Miss Rauer? Haven’t established who she is …. silly pussyfooting questions that jurors already know answers to .

    How old was the puppy?
    Did you purchase it together?
How long have you been with Miss B.
    Serious relationship?
Living with her at the time?
How long in the pre-marital home?
How would you characterize Satellite Beach

    Geez.

  388. Dunn on the sand saying he “absolutely” remembers the events, made plans for the weekend, in a pet-friendly B and B. Sotfware programmer, 22 years.

And now, he is breaking down, emotional.

    Wow.

  389. J4TMinATL says:

    Cry me a river.

  390. lurker says:

    Motorcycle accident as a teenager?????

  391. Trained Observer says:

    Blastoff!

  392. J4TMinATL says:

At the end of the day, jury is going to hear the old “I was in fear for my life.” Let’s see how well the State navigates the no weapons found/you didn’t see anything.

Dunn seems easily agitated as he blamed the state for these preposterous charges upon being sworn in to take the stand. Let’s see how he holds up.

  393. J4TMinATL says:

    Wait what?

  394. Trained Observer says:

Somehow I think Fogen was lucky he didn’t get Healey on the bench.

    • YQ says:

GZ was even lucky that he got one judge recused and the other one dismissed. I actually believe that Lester wanted to throw th book at GZ. Would have been fun to watch.

  395. lurker says:

Defense wants to keep the music issue off the table. It wasn’t the music, it was the gun! Where’s the gun, Dunn?

  396. Lynn says:

    He’s wearing a leg brace?…Guilty!

What does this have to do with the price of tea in China?

  397. Tee says:

Professor do you think that the letters will be entered into evidence today!

  398. Trained Observer says:

Who wil do Dunn on cross? Corey … Guy?

  399. J4TMinATL says:

John Guy is going to do cross?

    Disagree with this decision.

  400. Dunn will be the next witness.

  401. J4TMinATL says:

He has a leg brace on?

He blames the State is forcing him to testify on these preposterous charges.

  402. Tee says:

    Its going down!

  403. Trained Observer says:

Hot Damn Dunn … getting another pot of coffee going.

  404. J4TMinATL says:

    Here we go.

    Dunn…Dunn…Dunnnnn

  405. Judge Healey grants the State’s motion to exclude Dr. John Abuso from testifying in this case.

  406. lurker says:

    And the witness is OUT!

  407. lurker says:

Dunn testifying seems to me to be a last act of desperation. Right or no right, I don’t think he has the stuff to stand up to cross iin this case. But all he has so far is a bunch of folks who have never seen him angry and swear he wasn’t intoxicated at the wedding.

    • Juror 82 is a doctor. This expert hopeful is not going to fly, I really don’t think a doctor will be convinced.

      • Malisha says:

Let’s not get too hopeful about doctors. I have a friend who is a highly qualified physician and was in a high-ranked position in the Public Health Service for many years. Excellent diagnostician! She started blogging in the Fogen trial saying that, basically, Fogen was innocent because lots of Blacks kill whites. Her stuff was just plain ignorant-plus-stupid-plus-racist-and-offensive. I couldn’t even answer her and haven’t spoken to her since. She blogged about this 17-year-old Black murderer who had beaten some eighty-year-old couple somewhere in Mississippi I think. What the hell that had to do with Trayvon Martin I failed to see. Yet this woman could diagnose a tumor as big as a thimble in a person with five different ailments in under ten minutes, and be right on the money. Doctors can be convinced by bullshit same as anybody else. Unfortunately.

  408. J4TMinATL says:

    Morning!

  409. Tee says:

Professor how would Dr. Abuso be allowed to testify about how the mind works when he is not a psychiatrist or psychologist?

  410. Dave says:

If Dr. Abuso is allowed to testify however dubious his qualifications, the prosecution will be placed in the delicate position of having to attack the testimony of a Christian Fundamentalist minister in front of a 12 person Southern jury. That could be very interesting.

  411. I am almost afraid to ask: Is Dunn wearing a golf sweater to testify in court, in his own murder trial? Why is this man not wearing a conservative suit?

  412. Judge Healey said there is no evidence of self-defense before the jury.

    Strolla said Dunn will testify.

If Dr. Abuso testifies, Dunn will have to testify first to lay the foundation for his testimony.

    • Two sides to a story says:

Holy smokes. I can’t believe he’ll let Dunn testify. What do you make of that, Professor?

      • I’ll answer here, Fred talking. He has a right to testify, for one, and he really has no choice but to testify, because so far, there is no evidence in the record to justify a self-defense jury instruction.

      • Every defendant in a criminal case has a right to testify or remain silent in his own case.

As a practical matter, Dunn must testify or he won’t get a self-defense instruction.

        Why?

At this point, no evidence of self-defense has been admitted into evidence. He has to testify that he shot in self-defense or he does not get the instruction.

Then it will be up to the jury to decide whether to believe him.

From what I could overhear last night–when they were reviewing the charges, was there some discussion of whether they could claim something like assault, or battery on the part of Jordan Davis?

  413. At this point, Thunderpuppy has bigger fish to fry, because Dunn is going to testify, and likely get creamed.

  414. Judge Healey had his coffee this morning. He asked whether acute stress response is in DSM IV and V.

Healey is explaining why he is not going to allow Dr. Abuso to testify.

  415. Here we go…the judge starts with, “I’ve got several problems.”

    ie, he is not qualified.

  416. Even if acute stress response is in the DSM-IV, it is beyond his scope to even diagnose that condition.

  417. Two sides to a story says:

He’s a minister in counseling psychology – wonderful for his patients, not likely good for expert testimony for trial purposes.

    • lurker says:

Maybe someone could ask him what personality traits he might expect in someone who has been married multiple times and is looking forward to his 3rd (or is it 4th) marriage.

  418. He hasn’t even talked to Dunn. He is basing his opinion on Rhonda Rourer’s reaction.

This doesn’t have anything to do with the shooting itself and it’s only a possible explanation for Dunn’s failure to call 911.

The other explanation as Corey pointed out is that he was hoping he would get away with murder, if no one got his plate and called the cops.

  419. This man has no information at all that Dunn ‘felt threatened.’

  420. Well, the judge just schooled him.

  421. I actually don’t think this guy wants to testify as an expert. He appears very uncomfortable with this.

  422. Nobody took Dunn’s blood pressure, heart rate, respirations, checked his pupils to even verify that an ‘adrenaline dump’ ever occurred.

  423. Even in a very worse case scenario- the dog ends up at a shelter, and even if it is a kill shelter, nobody would euthanize the dog, for seven days. Animal Control is a branch of the sheriff here, and I believe there would be efforts to get the dog back into a home, before killing it. So, that excuse doesn’t fly.

If they cared so much about the dog they would have skipped the shooting, and gone to the dog.

Professor, can you do a post on the jurors?

What I found interesting is that the list I read didn’t differentiate between those who were on the main jurors and who were the alternates.

What I found interesting is none of the three black females on the jury had children nor were they married.

  425. Corey is handling this very well.

  426. Angela Corey has just nailed it, and asked all the questions I would be asking.

amazing how good she was at cross and how bad the prosecution was at cross during Zimmerman’s trial

      • Yes. I quit watching that freak show finally, it was so bizarre.

      • Boyd says:

I’d like to know who made the decisions in the Zimmemran trial, clearly they’re not making the same mistake.

I’m thinking either it was Bernie or AC knows this is a slam dunk and wants the credit.

        • lurker says:

I think that she knows how badly it would look for her to lose this one. And in this case, there are a number of direct eye witnesses, not people who knew the defendent peeping out from behind curtains and such.

          • concernedczen says:

I think the main thing is that they were actively trying to lose the Zimmerman trial because they did not want to expose the incompetence and racism of the Sanford PD and the district attorney’s office who at first refused to charge zimmerman

        • Malisha says:

Or, third possibility, they want to win in this trial as much as they wanted to lose in Fogen’s.

  427. The issue is whether this guy’s testimony would be helpful to the jury to decide an issue in the case.

He is not an expert on self-defense.

  430. Probably not a Daubert issue here because this is not a novel scientific theory or methodology.

  431. Lynn says:

The Global Grind link is showing the pre trial stuff now.

  432. Unless Dunn testifies, there will not be a sufficient foundation for this man’s testimony.

  433. Strolla, aka Thunderpuppy, is going to try and use this guy to justify that after the shooting, Dunn was under so much stress that he walked the dog and ordered pizza, but he was incapable of calling 911. Or something.

    Crazy.

    • Malisha says:

Well now, if that flies, then I think I’ll go take care of business in a little place and do my thing and then walk a dog and order pizza my damn-self. I can think of a few … well, nuff sed.

  434. The expert hopeful is actually more of a chaplain. He seems like a nice enough guy, but he was a prison chaplain, which has nothing to do with Dunn’s physiology on the night of the incident.

  435. Yesterday the ended the day working on jury instructions. Since Michael Dunn had not shown enough evidence to earn a self-defense jury instruction, we believe he may testify.

There was also a request from Strolla to present an ‘expert’ in ‘fight or flight response.’ This has to do with physiology, but nobody took Dunn’s vital signs during the incident, so this seems an endeavor into junk science.

  436. Good Morning! Do you think Michael Dunn will take the stand?
