Good afternoon:
We have another incomprehensible police killing of a civilian.
Robert Cameron Redus, 23, was shot to death early Friday morning by a campus police officer. Redus was a student at the University of the Incarnate Word, a Catholic University in San Antonio, TX.
The campus police officer who shot Robert Cameron Redus said the 23-year-old student got out of his truck after a traffic stop, approached the officer and got into the struggle that claimed Redus’ life.
The officer has been identified as Cpl. Christopher Carter, said Margaret Garcia, a University of the Incarnate Word spokeswoman. He has been placed on administrative leave as part of standard procedure in these types of incidents, the university said in a prepared statement.
Police are claiming that Redus was stopped for speeding and driving erratically.
When the officer pursued Redus in his marked cruiser, the student pulled into an apartment complex.
A resident of the complex, 22-year-old Mohammad Haidarasl, told the San Antonio Express-News that Redus was his upstairs neighbor.
It was 2 a.m., and Haidarasl was on his apartment sofa.He told the paper he heard a voice he believes to have been the officer’s saying, “Stop resisting, stop resisting.”
The newspaper quoted Haidrasl as saying he thought he heard a struggle and “then the cop said, ‘I’m going to shoot.’ ”
A male voice replied, ” ‘Oh, you’re gonna shoot me?’ like sarcastic almost,” Haidarasl said.
Less than a minute later, he said, he heard shots.
Students have reacted to the shooting with stunned disbelief. He was fun loving, popular, a Dean’s List student and the anchor on the school television news program.
The officer has been placed on administrative leave and the shooting is being investigated.

“Stop resisting” does not indicate that the cop believed the suspect to be armed, does it. “Hands where I can see them” or “drop the weapon” would be a much different kind of verbalization on the way to homicide.

No, I think you are mistaken here. Samantha looks somewhat like the old girlfriend, but is a different person. They have reportedly known each other for quite a few years, but have not been romantically involved before this year. In addition, my understanding is that the dueling restraining orders have elapsed by now.
Looks like Colin’s impression was correct about the last part: there is a no contact order between GZ and SS.
GZ girlfriend says it is the 911 opeator, and what we heard her say was misinterpreted what she said and that the detectives misinterpreted what she said and that she hasn’t been coerced into the request
also its the rest of world that’s is doing GZ wrong by putting a target on his back and won’t leave him alone. If the pictures that GZ send is true his girlfriend would be in trouble also That a good reson to want it drop
She was either sweet talked by Fogen or intimidated by Fogen’s family…remember what they did to his cousin for revealing the truth.
Just imagine if she had called 911 and said exactly what they recorded, and they showed up and she was outside the house, and he was inside HER HOUSE with the doors barred, and they said to her: “Well Miss, we’re not gonna put a target on George’s back just on your word” and left. Yeah. Just imagine THAT one.

Thanks. Yep just more confirmation. The key parts are GZ’s lies about asking this guy to help him restrain TM and TM’s arms being spread out by GZ are now exposed and the UPS incident to boot. Just amazing.
I would not have waited until after the trial to mention the UPS incident. Something about this guy I don’t like. .Maybe it’s not investigating a fight that alarmed his wife with his Police Academy experience. Fine cop he would have made.
True, it’s better to be cautious about it but the part about conflicting the GZ’s lies mentioned here was on the prosecution.

Victim/Student was un armed Im predicting an if he was resisting arrest .
After alleged eratic driving he was parked up at his own apartment complex when challenged.
I would have thought a tazer more appropriate to the severity of said alleged crimes.

Whats a Campus Cop anyways ? As Campus /Cops In the UK are grorfied security gaurds / watchmen with no official powers to arrest detain or even question .
They have the same powers as a civilian an have to actually witness a crime In progress to detain someone.
Or Is it a specific beat/location allocated to a proper L.E In the States?

they police like that in the small town I live near. I’ve seen them arrest people for loitering and they stop people on the street riding bikes or walking to search them. I tell my kids never go into Town.
The stupid Town elders don’t realize they lose business from people like me who’ve done nothing wrong and are afraid to be hassled. I do not need a going 30 in a 25 speeding ticket. excuse so they can run my plates and license.
LOL! All colleges here have their own police. They all carry guns, some go undercover to catch student drug dealers. I Had no idea they worked off campus though.
Back when I was in school it seemed their primary function was to ticket your car for illegal parking.
We also have Post office Police, National Park Police, county cops, sheriffs, state police, Federal cops to protect congress, the internal revenue service. and they probably added more cop types after 911 for Homeland security. And they all carry guns We have tons of cops.
I think Los Angeles has school police.
It probably varies from place, but when I was a student at Michigan State, the campus cops were Ingham County sheriff’s deputies and got their authority from that department. In theory I suppose that they could have made arrests anywhere in the county but they confined their operations to the MSU campus (which had 30 or 40 thousand students).
Think race is an issue here?

I’m no lawyer so tell me if I’m reading this legal jargon correctly.
The bodyguards vs MOM-GZ-SZ has stipulation for MOM, Dismissal with prejudice for SZ, and Dismissal WITHOUT prejudice for GZ…Does that mean the bodyguards could come back and try to get money from GZ at a later time? They could bring it back to the courts?

Lynn & Xena, While it is possible that the plaintiff in this case could come back and pursue this case against George Zimmerman, it is not likely to happen. The plaintiff would first have to prove damages, and if you look at the original bill and the amount settled for, you will realize there is no loss to the plaintiff. It’s nice to think that this remains to be a problem for George Zimmerman, however it is only a wish, because it will go no where… George Zimmerman needs to worry about the future at this point and not dwell on the problems of the past, because he has not learned anything from the past he will continue to cause problems for himself and others, until he meets his end….
crazy1946. Right. The attorney for AIS did say that he’s unlikely to pursue George. It serves to demonstrate more about George’s mindset than anything else. He could have signed the settlement papers but refused to do so.
Xena, Yes he could have signed the papers! Some have suggested that he was scared to be there because of the divorce papers. I suggest that was not the reason he did not appear to sign the papers, to have come forth and signed them would have meant he admitted to having done something wrong, and we have yet to see him do that… His ego would not allow him to sign and admit to his actions…. I don’t know why but my gut is telling me that George Zimmerman will not make alive thru the holiday season… Let’s see, I predict suicide by cop…. That will give the crazies’ on the racist front something to use politically and in their minds make him a legend for gun rights and personal freedom for all racists….
I believe O’Mara paid the $30 K to AIS, so they have no reason to seek further compensation from anyone. O’Mara had to pay it because he incurred the debt and he is the only one with the ability to pay it. Since the debt was incurred for GZ’s benefit, GZ is the primary debtor. O’Mara could go after him for the $30 K, but he knows that would be a waste of time and money.
By refusing to sign the settlement agreement, GZ refuses to admit the debt is legitimate, thereby forcing O’Mara to sue him.
Bottom Line: GZ ripped off O’Mara for $30 K.

In 2011, GZ ripped off his attorney in the civil suit against Aames. O’Mara should have taken note of that. Weintraub should also.

Somebody is lying. If the guns were locked, how could she have hurled a couple of them around as he suggested earlier? He mentioned a shotgun and a handgun.
Seminole County is clearly calling SS a liar. She said she was intimidated – they said she told 911 her story before police got there to intimidate her. She also states she was denied sustenance and a call to her lawyer – to which they said she was offered food and had control of her phone the entire time.
They say there is no hearing scheduled to modify the terms of his release. Nor should there be. You can’t call 911 and tie up the courts just because you need the attention that national media didn’t offer you. Stick to your guns (no pun intended) Seminole County, and prosecute both of them if needed.

Fogen needs to be tried even at the risk of another failure to convict. Sleazu Sam needs to get a load of the downside of being a hostile witness, facing consequences of lying to cops … with possible perjury charges looming if she tries to get cute in court. Shellie Z could advise her on how that can work out.
Most importnatly, the longer Fogen is stripped of his ability to arm himself the better.

I swear this case came across my mind today…I do not intentionally think about this ….but as I was walking home I starting saying ,how come Samantha hasn’t dropped the charge agains’t gz as yet…?…they are probably back together….and a few minutes ago I go to yahoo and I got my ansere….she is dropping the charges
Samantha, who makes the accusations (phony or otherwise) doesn’t do the charging, nor does she drop the charges. Keep that in mind.

True, Dave. But Prosecutors can give her a rough time of it in a variety of ways. She better hope she’s squeaky clean on all legal fronts or she could find herself in an unrelated world of trouble.By the way, is she employed? How does she support herself?
Not necessarily – I mean he did barricade himself in the house and wouldn’t come out, even when the police were there, and made his stupid phone call but still refused to talk to them. They have her phone call. If the table was broken when they went in, and the did find his guns, they may be able to do something without her. Maybe not prove that he waved the gun in her face, but it is obvious he pushed her out of her house.
Prosecutors can still get pissy about pointing a gun, smashing a table, misusing 911, and barricading the door. He’s just building up to another explosion. Matter of when not if.
Either she lied on the 911 call or she’s lying now. Intimidated by the police? Were they there when she called 911? They may have enough evidence via the 911 call, the broken table, and glass in the stock of his gun to verify the call.
I suspect fogen did more of his lying sweet talk to get her to change her mind. If so, he violated the protection order.

Can she now be charged for lying to cops?
I doubt it – women do this all the time. I was one of them until I realized that if I went back, I’d be killed. Yes, he beat the crap out of me, but after being apart, “I loved him,” he “was going to change,” would “never do it again.” I tried to get the state to drop charges, but they wouldn’t. But again, women do this all the time because they “love” him. I’m glad I got out or I would be dead. She will be too if she doesn’t.

Exactly. I’ve also been there, done that. The first time the police were called to the scene of a beating I endured, it wasn’t even me who called the police, A concerned stepchild who saw how his father was acting when he left the house that morning called the cops. He spent one night in jail and then off we went for five more years until I came to my senses. I was lucky to walk out of there alive.
Guess this pair of grifters wants to have a cozy “alls well that ends well” yule together. Hope judge leaves all orders in place, thus depriving Fogen of his ability to be armed for as long as possible.
This is expected….I knew she would drop the charges and reveal to the nation that her baby boy gz never pointed a gun ay her face……she is a character…….I have witnessed a freind lying to 911about her boyfreind….saying thing he was doing to her that he never did…samanther voice never changed when she claimed she was veing pushed out……
I’ve also known women to tell the truth about abuse and then cover up after the fact to try to smooth things over.
On a different topic, fogen’s girlfriend wants the state to drop the charges, lift the no contact order so she can be with her man (gag), and said she will not help the state in their prosecution of him.

I have mixed feelings on this one, especially after hearing the words of his down stairs neighbor who heard the confrontation…. We might want to wait until all the (truthful) facts come out about this case before we rush to judgment…
It seems that shootings are becoming a daily occurrence.
We have had 17 in 2 months one county over from me and it’s a small county most of it rural.
This “officer” held 9 different cop-related jobs in 8 years. Maybe a dangerous wanna-be cop bully? One who insists on respect in all circumstances? Sure hope there’s video.
