Good afternoon again:
More bad news, this time from the Bay Area.
Yesterday, Santa Rosa Sheriff’s deputies shot and killed a 13-year-old boy who was walking down the street carrying a plastic replica of an assault weapon.
He is the third person to have been shot by police in the Bay Area during the past 24 hours.
The boy’s name is Andy Lopez.
File under “situation crazy, getting crazier.”

The second “toy”, he had concealed in his waistband, did have the required orange tip on it but the cops never saw this one.

In it they show the actual “toy” next to the real thing. Now look at the photo and tell me the cops overreacted. This “toy” does not look like a toy, nor does it have the required orange tip to show that it is a toy.
On HP the father gave an interview in which he said that his son wasn’t allowed out with the “toys” without supervision but he was only returning the “toys” to the owner, a friend. I suggest you also look at the California laws dealing with airsoft guns:

In it you will see that it is against the law to even walk around in public areas with these “toys”. Is it a tragedy, yes. Was it avoidable, Yes again. Why did his father let him, knowing he was carrying these “toys” out alone to return them when at other times he claims he was never allowed outside without supervision? Federal laws require orange tips on these “toys” for a reason and this is it.
As to his age, well once again where the cops are concerned I have told the children I have taught firearms safety to there are 2 things the cops don’t have to ask you. 1. How old are you? 2. Is that real? I have always used my son’s experience with having one of these “toys” pointed at him and a friend to the kids I teach, now I think I may have another story to add.
Put the blame where it belongs, I’m sorry but I blame the father who let him out of the house alone with the “toys” and the parents of the friend who bought them without proper markings and let them out of the house without their supervision.
towerflower … As much as I dislike the police and hate agreeing with them, this time I must. The young man should never been allowed to have it, especially out doors, and the manufacturer should not be allowed to produce it, with or without the orange tip.

IF the weapon was realistic looking, then I don’t blame the cops for getting antsy.
I can’t blame PD for getting antsy, but there’s far too much shoot people first and figure out what the deal is later in this country. They shoot to kill immediately, which is basically murder in my book.

See, if the old fashioned papers of old, really were worth anything, then, part of the service would be to tell us things we need to know. Verses being mere conduits of BS, and propaganda.
So when the time comes… if ever… when the ”impoverished” local ”news paper” would ever get the drift and go ahead and start to tell the GD news/facts/of importance for the communitee…
Those failing newspapers would be in demand and would be a viable buisiness, but that would be unlikely because every one of them has been bought up and aglomerated into corporate shit, like most of the American bussinesses,.
Remember putting in a classified add? and if they would recall: they used to be a great way to sell things… in the pages in the back!
All of that has been subverted to corporate communism!!!

Newspapers were an important part of what was the concept that propelled the American way of life. We were, at least BSed enough to the point that we believed that that old codger at the news room was putting out the best roundup of what was going on in… Our Town, and Peoria.
