FOX News pimps for defendant in Trayvon Martin murder case

Thursday, February 28, 2013

The beat goes on as Mark O’Mara continues to shamelessly pimp for his client.

Edmund DeMarche of Fox News writes:

George Zimmerman, the Florida man who fatally shot an unarmed Florida teenager last year, wears a disguise and a bulletproof vest whenever he is in public, his attorney said.

“He never feels safe,” Mark O’Mara, his lawyer, told FoxNews.com. “His security has been cut and he stays inside his secure location all day long due to threats.”

As a result of the confinement, Zimmerman’s health has taken a turn for the worse, O’Mara said. He gained about 100 pounds in six months and is stressed about the threats and his upcoming murder trial, which is set to begin on June 10.

“If I was confined to four rooms all day I bet I’d gain a lot of weight, too,” O’Mara said.

Next time you see the Michelin Man wearing sunglasses while standing in line at the Donut Shop, be sure to tap him on the shoulder and ask him for his autograph. Maybe he will give it to you for free, although I would not bet the ranch.

On second thought, we don’t need you to do that because this Afro Peruvian descendant of African kings might pull out a gun and blow away your heart.

Now prepare yourself for this fine example of journalism at its finest:

Last year, Zimmerman spotted Trayvon Martin walking through his neighborhood, a gated community, in Sanford, Fla. Martin was walking back to a house he was staying at in the community after a trip to a convenience store.

Zimmerman started to follow him because he thought he looked suspicious. Despite a police dispatcher telling him “you don’t have to do that,” Zimmerman got out of his truck to pursue Martin.

They got into a fight and Martin was shot.

You gotta love that integrity.

But wait, there’s more:

O’Mara said he talks with Zimmerman every day. He said the couple relies on donations to survive since neither one can hold down a job.

He said Zimmerman, who previously aspired to be a judge, looks forward to the trial to begin, but has been disenfranchised about the legal proceedings thus far.

To be sure, even if his client is acquitted, O’Mara said he will likely never feel safe in his hometown or Florida.

“He’d have to go somewhere where nobody knows him,” O’Mara said.

So, O’Mara and his client are a “couple” and poor George is wearing bulletproof vests and disguises while he steadily eats himself to death because he doesn’t get to vote on the outcome of his trial.

Excuse me, while I cry me a river of tears.

I’ve been reading the comments to the effect that GZ’s huge (pun intended) weight gain may have been deliberate, but I disagree. I think it’s the result of the same lack of impulse control that led him to pursue TM and shoot and kill him. That’s a symptom of his ADD or ADHD disorder, and it can also be exacerbated by some of the meds he’s been prescribedl

At any rate, remember that list of junk foods he bought while he was in jail and awaiting his bond hearing? I think that represented his usual diet. He did lose around 20 lbs.. while he was hiding out at the Ostermans immediately after the shooting, which could have been because they served the couple healthier meals or because he was embarrassed to pig out in front of them.

Funny you mention that, because on April 6, 2012 as GZ was traveling through the State of Maryland, ShelLIE was spending money in restaurants. Oh — he did stop at KFC.

Since GZ hadn’t setup his beg site then, maybe she could only afford to feed herself.

I disagree with those who find that GZ’s OB may have been deliberate.

I also disagree with those who find that GZ’s OB is the result his opulent lifestyle and lack of self-control.

IMO, GZ knows what Angela Corey and BDLR know: he killed Trayvon in cold blood. GZ knows that the evidence is there and that it’s just a matter of a few months before he heads to prison. As such, GZ’s mind is preoccupied with a lot of things: (a) Shattered dreams of becoming a Judge/Cop (whatever), (b) life imprisonment, (c) the known unknowns of everyday life in prison, (d) Shellie divorcing him, marrying a Black guy and making babies with him (oh, that worries him MOST), etc. All these, which can devastate a feeble minded male, are weighing heavily on GZ forcing him to takes refuge in food and strong medication (that can affect his sense of reality). The fact that GZ (a grown married man) calls O’Mara every day (for some form of emotional comfort) tells me that that guy is mentally unstable, is freaking out – while “fearful”, “mistrusting” and “confused”.

    • Malisha says:

When Fogen was living at Osterman’s after the killing but before being jailed, he was in a different emotional period of his life. He was still winning. As the country erupted into outrage that he was given a free walk for a murder, he sat pretty, thinking that he was going to ride out the storm and get away with it all, and becoming a celebrity as well, reading the constant stroking by the Outhousers and those like them (and strange bedfellows like Jeralyn Merritt and Alan Dershowitz and at times Jonathan Turley too). He felt good; he could still smirk; he was on top of his game; he was getting his whole family lined up in his defense and he could feel the groundswell of indignant “reverse racism” support building up around him and, of course, he had Shellie (still not indicted herself) and the Ostermans and Oliver and Taaffe feeding him all that gooey shmooey adoration.

This all tumbled around him in pieces as he and his wife and advisors and ill-advisors dug his hole deeper and deeper, as his first two attorneys ran like rats from the sinking ship, as he was identified as a “real suspicious potted palm,” as Shellie got her own rear-end into a wringer, as one attack after another on Trayvon turned out to be fraudulent, and as Judge Nelson came in and took the reigns and reality began to emerge inexorably.

That is when, in my opinion, the regression back to “Mommy gimme something good so I don’t feel so bad right now” happened. Fogen doesn’t have prescription drugs that are going to make him feel good. He needs whatever will pump more of that serotonin into his flagging mindset. He needs those fast sugars and the weighty carbs to shock his neurotransmitters into flashes of “ah ah ahhhh” instead of “uh oh” or, the ever-present and just waiting to hit: OhNoooooooooooo!

For that part of it, I feel for him a tiny bit, although I am embarrassed to admit it. I temper my desire to empathize with him by reminding myself of that terrorized scream right before the gunshot — If I can measure that scream, dilute it with time and time and time, and spread it out, it does actually equal approximately 100 years of real dread, real deep panicky anxiety, real OhNoooooooooooo! — so I am saying to myself, “Perhaps the universe again seeks its balance as Fogen begins to learn how to feel what he inflicted upon…” Well, perhaps.

  5. mufngruf says:

I found some rather interesting quotes here from one of the Martin’s attorneys, who seems like a pretty good lawyer… and has a pretty good and fair attitude towards MOM and the case.

George Zimmerman's attorney: We're not trying to 'demonize' Trayvon Martin

    • Rachael says:

Well I sure hear some dog whistle words in there by O’Mara.

    • @mufngruf,Thank you, i’m gonna read this right now, i’m dying for someone in the freakin media to stick up for Trayvon!!! I’m SICK to death of the filth coming from the zimmerlovers and the idiots who humor them!

I just want some major media outlet to take a stand against this bullshit!
i want someone who isn’t intimidated by omar’s ridiculous law suits and who are genuinely offended by the character attacks against someone’s dead child!

  6. Rachael says:

    • Xena says:

When people are ignorant of courts and the law, and unwilling to learn, or reject the knowledge of those with experience because they don’t like them, it’s very frustrating to them to see their imaginations ruined by reality.

The treeslum hates Leatherman. The treeslum hates anyone who grasps understanding of the procedures in GZ’s case and the law. They mock knowledge and experience to their own embarrassment because thus far, we have been right, and they have been wrong.

The last hearing in GZ’s case didn’t go well for the defense. Judge Nelson refused to give West plantation authority over attorney Crump. Along with that ShelLIE got bad news too. NBC has requested that the court delay proceedings. AIS is still on the burner with a good complaint to get the money owed to them.

The latest news is that the federal government has told O’Mara in certain words to go suck a rotten egg. Zidiots assumed that just because O’Mara exchanged a subpoena duces tecum for an order of the court, that the feds would have to bow to his demands. WRONG! All along I’ve said that a state court lacks jurisdiction to order the federal government to do anything. When a court lacks jurisdiction, the order is void.

Funny thing about the feds — they will help O’Mara fill out the proper forms, but they won’t tell him that his request will be denied anyway because there is an ongoing investigation. However, I think O’Mara knows that and thus, why he didn’t accept the fed’s help with the proper forms.

So now, in their frustration, Zidiots have once again pulled the race card because GZ IS NOT going to know what the feds have on him until the feds are good and ready to let him know.

          @Rachael

They did a video parody of one of our favorite vodeo makers, obvious envy.

You mean, they lack creativity to plan a video about GZ? Lack of talent to put it together? Not enough education or a mentor to help them write a script consisting of more than 4 letter words? Bet it had name calling in it — can’t say they are a GZ supporter without demonstrating name calling.

Envy and competition. Had Blackbutterfly7 not posted a “thank you” to one of our favorite video makers, Zidiots would not have flared up in jealously.

It’s okay. Let them continue sending out that negative energy on behalf of GZ. In another month, he will need an exoticism to stop his head from going around in a circle.

How many views? Three? Does the number of views coincide with the number of thumbs down? LOL!!

      • Rachael says:

Oh, IDK how many, it was on their site and afaic, like you said, their negative energy is positive energy for us. It wasn’t mean really, it was just funny because they are soooooo very envious.

        • Xena says:

          @Rachael

It wasn’t mean really, it was just funny because they are soooooo very envious.

Several months ago, LLMPapa posted a challenge along the lines that if Zidiots produced a video proving that Trayvon was straddle GZ and able to see the gun, and GZ was able to pull his gun from the holster and fire as he said, that he would take down all his videos about the case.

They can’t. Name-calling is the only thing they have.

      • PiranhaMom says:

        Xena,

All in all, I have a certain perverse sympathy for Zidiots & treeslummers. It’s not that they are uninformed. It’s that they are unable to inform themselves. If they could read the autopsy report, they would realize the facts. It’s not that they can’t read. They are still trying to find the autopsy report.

        They keep looking under “O”

    • Jun says:

I do not think they realize that they base their agenda on the 8 minutes of stalking and instigating and threatening of Trayvon Martin by Fogenhats, and the only evidence of Fogenhats’ claims are his own testimony, so if Fogenhats does not testify, he can’t even claim self defense

I think they also fail to realize that an impartial jury will weigh it and also look at Trayvon Martin with the same rights and look at the whole picture to see who is it fault

The answer is fairly simple and the fact remains that if Fogenhats did not target, stalk, and pursue Trayvon with intent to do him harm, none of what transpired, would have transpired

IMO, the struggle began when Fogenhats began his stalking and watching of Trayvon in his car, and was creeping on Trayvon

The stalking from Fogenhats’ car by Fogenhats at night time in the dark would have anyone have concerns for their safety, so that caused Trayvon to try to escape and get away from such a person, ie the creepy man in the car

Fogenhats took it a step further and chased the kid with a gun and a flashlight on foot afterwards

Only in their world does Trayvon have no rights and can not even defend himself from some crazy stranger named Fogenhats, who continually stalked and pursued him with a gun

But in the end, the kid did not even touch Fogenhats at all and W8’s testimony that Trayvon was not the type to fight was correct

      Fairly simple case

IMO it should not have been dragged out this long and the speedy trial should have been rendered and done and over with

The CSI effect is in full effect

      • Trained Observer says:

It’s the defendant’s right to waive a speedy trial. Stalling is also to the defendant’s advantage, since his days of freedom are numbered.

  7. aussie says:

    WOW, ay2z.

It was obviously cut and chopped and changed, on first viewing. But I didn’t pick it was totally faked. That might account for some of why O’Mara sat there not trying to shut GZ up…. he wasn’t there.

    • SearchingMind says:

      @ ay2z, Aussie

Which version of the interview did BDLR enter into evidence, the (un)edited one?

      • aussie says:

They got the full tapes from the show, I believe; the FULL tapes not just what was aired. So they’d have the cutting room floor stuff, too, though I don’t know if they can use that in the end, as it wasn’t made public.

        • They can use any statement he made whether publicized or not.

          • jm says:

“They can use any statement he made whether publicized or not.”

Would they be able to question Hannity regarding the interview? If so, do you think it may be helpful.

          • They do not need to ask Hannity any questions, unless they want to ask a question to get an answer they know about, but was not recorded. I doubt they have that type of information because I do not believe Hannity would have volunteered it.

They just need to authenticate the recording and play it. Anyone connected with the interview and recording process can do that.

          • Lonnie Starr says:

What would Hannity have to add unless they knew that he heard GZ say something off the air, but then Hannity would probably not remember it, if only keep from getting involved in the case. So, even if Hannity had heard or witnessed something, it would probably be an exercise in futility to question him about it.

The only sane thing to do is review what they’ve gotten on film, since the film is veritical unless it can be proven to be altered.

          • onlyiamunitron says:

            “…since the film is veritical…”

If it wasn’t aired, or otherwise published, can they compel Hannity’s production company to produce the recording?

            unitron

          • Yes, by subpoena duces tecum.

          • onlyiamunitron says:

            “Yes, by subpoena duces tecum.”

Does that work across state lines?

          • I thought I remembered something about grabbing unaired footage being a 1st Amendment issue.

Not aware of such a case.

The obligation to provide evidence in a criminal case trumps just about everything, including many privileges.

          • onlyiamunitron says:

Perhaps I’m confusing un-aired footage with reporter’s notebooks.

And still confusing Hannity with a journalist. : – )

            unitron

          • Lonnie Starr says:

Why compel when you can simply ask? Remember, the courts jurisdiction only extends to the states borders. However, compliance comes where ever you’re able to find it. I don’t see a reason why Hannity would withhold evidence from a court, that bore no relation to directly involving him or his company in litigation.

          • MOM is only concerned about grandstanding, not lawyering. His client is merely an excuse to get his mug in front of the cameras, his ticket to fame and fortune.

I believe he is a very self-centered and shallow man who could not care less about his client.

          • Lonnie Starr says:

My reading exactly, fame and fortune, the quest for rules his day.

      • SearchingMind says:

Thanks, Aussie. Nice they got the complete unedited tape. The tape can be used for impeachment purposes and/or to collaborate other evidence/testimony. Whatever proceedeth out of GZ’s mouth is (potential) evidence – regardless of whether or not it was made public (unless he made it under duress or in a place he has reasonable expectation of privacy and there was no warrant to breach that privacy).

      • ay2z says:

The ‘show’ was taped, the background added for each view in post-production, then aired, not saying it was edited after it was aired.

Check out ‘chroma key’ or ‘green screen’ (or blue screen) for some basic info.

Still learning here, to figure what they did to produce what they wanted us to see and how we should see it and hear it.

        • racerrodig says:

That stuff is fascinating, back in the 80’s we converted a lot of our cab fleet to “Dual Fuel. gas & propane. We had a contract transporting several of the TV news / weather people to work and one took interest in this. They sent a crew over to film this over the course of 3 days. The owner of the co. who was oh……”dwarfing of the Fogen girth” was told he shouldn’t be the narrator and since I knew everything about the conversion and the technicalities. I was elected. In all of the shots in the shop, which I kept clean as a whistle, they had a long blue “tarp” behind me. When the show aired there were all sorts of cars and equipment that we did not have. They turned a 1500 sq ft shop into about 20,000 sq foot.

There are several backgrounds used in the Hannity interview. The scene is not in a three dimensional room, it’s a fabrication of editing. Some of the object placements do not make sense in relation from one view to another, but they are there to provide consistency and ‘believability, but not so convincing when you watch for them and are not distracted by the interview.

    • PiranhaMom says:

      @Xena.

For some time. I’ve been wondering who the ideal jury should be: yes, African-American, let’s say 2; one Hispanic; 3 Caucasian – all parents of young teens.

      Now, doesn’t that balance nicely?

      • Xena says:

        @PiranhaMom

        Now, doesn’t that balance nicely?

The balance comes in the mind and the heart, being able to hear the evidence and testimony, apply the facts to the law by abiding by jury instructions. GZ and O’Mara are trying to deflect because GZ is not being tried for racial profiling, neither a racial hate-crime.

The jury won’t hear a word about GZ’s racism. That is for the federal government to decide.

I am confident that BDLR will do everything possible to disqualify people who are racially prejudiced from sitting on the jury.

IMO, all the State has to do is include a charge of discharging a fire arm — the charge against Alexander. Even racially bigoted Whites would not want GZ casing their neighborhood with a loaded weapon because his neighbors who witnessed and called 911, with the exception of Jon, are all White. A bullet knows no race and has no particular name on it. The bullet fired by GZ could have killed one of his neighbors while they watched television.

And of course, since GZ said that he didn’t know whether or not he actually shot Trayvon, there is good reason for the State to include that charge.

        • racerrodig says:

African American moms with teenage kids !! ….He CANNOT have a jury of HIS peers. There simply are not enough grossly overweight, racist, gun loving, unemployed, total losers with extremely dysfunctional families who are Afro – Peruvian with subscriptions to the Soldier of Fortune Racists R Us that are members of the NRA that live in Seminole County.

          • Although I have no proof…….I would seriously doubt that fogen was a member of the NRA…..remember there are dues to be a member……..and we also know that fogen is cheap…..

It would be interesting knowledge if he was or was not a member of the NRA?

          • racerrodig says:

I tend to believe he’d scrape that money up. Twice last year I was solicited by phone by the NRA for a donation and the recording said. “…for one of our own..” I was never an NRA member. I assume they found my number through an ammunition purchase from years back.

      • SearchingMind says:

The demoralization and disillusionment is growing and were are just seeing signs of them: the gang leader and the gangsters at the cth are openly revolting against O’Mara; donation are not flowing in anymore; enthusiasm is getting dangerously low among donors who have started resigning themselves to the strong possibility that GZ will be convicted; O’Mara is getting hysterical and incoherent on national TV and can’t even state without equivocation that GZ will not be convicted (that got to tell you a lot about his confidence in the strength of his case). Demanding an all-White jury is among the ultimate acts of desperation. And when GZ gets convicted by all-White jury, the gangsters at the cth will claim that those jurors were all threatened and intimidated by the NBP and are afraid of riots. I have nothing against an all-White jury – AS LONG AS the Professor, PiranhaMom, Racerrodig, Crane, Malisha and Rachel ARE THE JURORS!

        • onlyiamunitron says:

“Demanding an all-White jury is among the ultimate acts of desperation.”

I can find sources saying that the demographics* of the area (vast majority white) may result in an all-white jury, but no mention of the defense itself, “demanding” an all-white jury.

Who is it, exactly, that’s desperately demanding an all-white jury, and why are they worth taking notice of?

Wonder of wonders, even Karl Rove is now saying that the Repubs should elect candidates who can win, even if they don’t tow the NeoCon / Tea Potty line. So now, he’s being paid 6 million dollars to sprout truisms, never thought I’d see the day.

Oh and it’s time to revive the discussion about what Kinesiology will be able to say about Trayvon V GZ in combat.

Xena: “since GZ said that he didn’t know whether or not he actually shot Trayvon”

That is one version of his telling. The other is in the interview prior to his stress test when he says “I knew I was on him.” When asked where the gun was aimed.

        • Xena says:

@towerflower. Keeping up with GZ’s stories is like that question the State of Mississippi had for Black voter registration — how many bubbles are there in a bar of soap.

Still, the State should add that charge. GZ still discharged a firearm in a residential area.

      • Malisha says:

Racerrodig, I rarely feel the need to disagree with you but I actually checked the census records for Seminole County, Florida. The number of grossly overweight, racist, gun loving, unemployed, total losers with extremely dysfunctional families who are Afro–Peruvian with subscriptions to the Soldier of Fortune, Racists-R-Us that are members of the NRA was 4,771 in 2012 but only three of them were taxpayers. I guess the other 4,769 of them figured into the 47% of Americans who sponged off our country’s real hard-working decent American patriots.

Coming from someone whose brother says he and his family are not racists, it’s not only a pretty stupid thing to say, but it’s also a racially bigoted thing to say.

        • racerrodig says:

I think with his accent he is actually saying…”we’re not racers….”

    Crane-Station,

It’s late and I just got back to catch up, sort of. Airplane lines and Cous’ Vinny…. and Leslie N…

You asked about the video editing of the Hannity show. I’m doing research. Did collect several screen grabs ages ago and noticed a couple things about lighting and distortion, and appearing and disappearing objects. But didn’t know why, what the use was.

That ‘hotel’ scene, I now have a theory, solid one I’m sure, of why it appears in the colours it does– notice any missing colour? It’s called ‘green’! As in ‘green screen’. What you bet they were never in a room that looked like that.

I also think that O’Mara isn’t in the picture throughout, it was not a couchside chat of all three buddies in front of Hannity in the blue and orange room.

We never see O’Mara and Hannity together, we never see the fogen and Hannity together, and we (I suspect) only saw O’Mara and fogen together for a limited time, then O’Mara turns ‘small headed’ with exaggerated perspective.

There’s another clue in lighting, watch for the fogen’s right shoulder where it becomes fuzzy– soft edges, and lighting isn’t right for the direction of light in the scene. That may be because it’s picked up some green (and they have to colour key the foreground figures to match the background), or maybe just enhanced for some other reason, maybe the edge is too hard to match the background behind him.

Back when I learn more, or have a degree in filmmaking effects– whichever comes first. (above is all on memory, must have tossed the photos some time ago, but remember some of the effects that seemed strange).

    • ay2z says:

Clarification of ‘never saw them ‘together’, I meant seated side by side when the shot was made, vs a figure added in the distance later. Hannity only faces his guests, never beside them, never gets up to shake hands, no one mills about.

It’s as if the fogen and Hannity were never in the same room.

      • ay2z says:

(will get back to you when I watch the interview again, sound OFF this time, and see if I can figure out what was going on with the furniture and flowers)

This parasite has never had any self control in his life and continues to display his psychotic behavior through his spokesman, MOM.

Trayvon will never taste food again, or smell the spring air and we as a society are suppose to feel sorry for fogen?

Fogen is threatened? By who? He wasn’t afraid that night he decided to get out of truck to follow Trayvon. All he had to do was stay in his truck but we know…”these assholes always get away”. No fear that night while packing a gun. He made his choice and consequences can be a real bitch!

Cry me a river is RIGHT!

    • ladystclaire says:

AMEN and, don’t do the crime if you think you are too privileged to do the time. this is one that his daddy can’t make go away and, if the truth be known, Z senior should be facing some jail time as well for obstruction of justice along with Billy and Norm.

      • Malisha says:

I believe Fogen killed Trayvon Martin BECAUSE his own life was out of control. He had a wife who would not bear him a child, a school that would not grant him a diploma, a job that wasn’t giving him much remuneration and no advancement in sight, hopes and dreams that were born of fantasy rather than diligence and dedication, and an inflated idea of his own right to privileges NOBODY has any right to. He had a long history of trying to exert control over others whenever he felt impotent: beating the ex-girlfriend, attacking an ATF officer, chasing a driver he thought dissed him, involving himself in all kinds of tattling and juvenile misbehavior at jobs, violence at parties where he was supposed to be an officer of the peace. The guy could not get himself into control of any part of his life; heck, he couldn’t pay his own rent and didn’t own his own car.

He needed to go out and exert control over somebody else. In old times, he might have been “lucky” enough to own someone he could abuse to make himself feel better about his sorry lot. But in 2012, his calculations were all off and his moment had long since gone. When, at first, SPD tried to turn back the clock and give him a “walk” on the killing of an innocent kid he then slandered, he might have felt momentarily better, but when the real law came knocking, all his control issues piled back onto him and look what we have now.

  14. qianakee says:

Fox News is something else CNN is also at first I use to follow CNN with this case they are just as bias as Fox in a sense. But O’Mara might as well quit while he’s ahead because he simply has nothing to win this case and if he does win it’s only because he poison the jury!!!!!

  15. I wonder if fogen is watching the Jodi Arias trial?

If so do you happen to think he may see that as what awaits him…..?

  16. ladystclaire says:

It is ironic that a network that promotes the image of the poor as “lazy” dependents actually will take sympathy and mercy upon a depressed, overweight, unemployed Hispanic man that is up on charges for murder.

    Just ironic.

    • ladystclaire says:

@KA, I think it’s real sinful the way this media outlet has made the murderer of a child out to be the victim in this case. O’Mara’s whole intention is to taint a possible jury pool and, I think is past time for the judge in this case to impose a gag order in this case because, O’Mara is getting worse in his quest to try this case in the court of public opinion.

    • KittySP says:

We were eating dinner. Something about the software triggered your posts into moderation and I just saw them.

      Everything is cool.

    • I don’t see anything in your post that would have hijacked it into moderation.

Did you change your email or IP address? Maybe using a different computer?

That would do it, if it was a new address or email.

      • Two sides to a story says:

I’ve had problems with posts going into moderation when I used a different computer on the same network.

Sound familiar? You wrote it to Mountainmanpat. Now I throw it back at you.

    • Xena says:

@Colin. Not speaking for the professor and haven’t read other email notifications to know whether the professor has already replied, but as an administrator of a blog on Word Press, I can tell you that comments go into moderation for different reasons.

Some people use a laptop and desktop, and the IP addresses are different. IMPORTANT NOTE: Each computer has its own IP address. That also includes phones with internet access.

If the IP address first used that has your subsequent comments posted without going into moderation changes, then the comments will go into moderation. In other words, the Professor is not allowing some of your comments to be posted and not others because all or nothing would go into moderation. It’s the Word Press program that’s doing it.

    • Colin! it was only a mistake with the word press software!! They are NOT computer programmers, this word press thing is complicated!! You have to KNOW you are BELOVED!!! don’t be crazy! Prof and Crane-Station have written 10 apologies! That has NEVER happened before!! you have to know they wouldn’t do anything intentional to ignore YOU ( will they ignore me? eh…never mind 😉 )

BTW. I know for a fact everyone, and I mean EVERYONE reads your posts because you always have very pertinent, interesting and unique insights!!

      Please write back. Shannon xoxo

Forbidden Planet is a science fiction classic from the ’50′s. The story centers around a rescue team that arrives on a planet that people colonized. They find only two people remaining. They learn of a machine that increases intelligence, only it also does something else too which is, materializes thoughts. The one scientist in charge of the colony had managed to kill everyone besides his daughter because of his thoughts materializing doing his dirty work.

It also starred Walter Pigeon, Anne Francis, Earl Holliman and Robby the Robot.

      • Xena says:

        @Jun

The only way you can accept Fogenhats’ claims is to have to disregard all of Trayvon Martin’s rights as a human being and accept lies

It extends beyond GZ’s claims. It’s the arguments of bigotvoyants that denies Trayvon all human rights. Their concept that they would not accuse Trayvon of laying in wait had he continued running and entered the house, is like saying a Black man has to be home before dark or they have the right to accuse him of doing wrong.

Like the line in the song “A Change Is Gonna Come,” a Black man can go downtown to the movies, but better not be caught downtown after dark.

    • I LOVE HIM!!! and I love you too Xena!! this makes my day!
Alas, a regular guy, armed only with basic undisputed facts, is speaking common sense!

And i’m so glad he brought up gz’s felony arrest! These kinds of loopholes are mucking up the criminal justice system for everyone. Especially when it comes to gun permits.

As an adult, once you do something such as put your hands on another person, a stranger, regardless of whether you know it’s a police officer or not, you’ve shown a lack of respect for others. You must feel entitled to force your own will onto someone else. And he had to have done this before since he felt bold enough to do it in public.

It just makes you wonder how many other times he’s gotten away with these things (that we don’t know about).

Entitlement is key here. Gz thinks he is allowed to manipulate and harass, take what he wants and physically assault anyone he wants, and now he thinks he can kill who he wants.

  30. kllypyn says:

I find it amazing that trayvon who was a light weight and skinny and weighed 158lbs soaking wet would be a serious threat against a 208lb man alone by himself without a weapon he had no special fighting skills. it is almost impossible to repeatedly slam a person’s head on the ground while they are lying on their back with enough force to do any real damage and only if the person was disabled in someway and couldn’t fight back. it is impossible without hair to hold onto.there are no cases where someone’s head was slammed into the sidewalk with bare hands,in every case the person was kicked stomped or beaten in their head with a heavy blunt object and only after being disabled in someway. Zimmerpunk was bald the night he killed trayvon. Point 1,the only way trayvon would have been able to do the things zimmepunk claims is if he just laid their and let him do it.That obviously didn’t happen. Point 2 the only way Trayvon would have been able to do the things he claims is if he grew extra arms, and did all that simultaneously.Aint it funny how people, some of whom are supposedly educated can’t seen to figure that out. His head was repeatedly slammed into the sidewalk for nearly a minute.he was smothered. He was punched in the face 12 times or 30-40 times.the incident that ended Trayvon’s life lasted less than a minute. So how would Trayvon do all of that? I’ll tell you why he didn’t.Those miniscule injuries,on the back of his heads 1 round puncture wound. and a 1inch long cut on the back of his head.where on a sidewalk would you get those? he got those from a metal object. the blood from those wounds flow toward his face,he was not on his back when he got those wounds. All his other injuries are minor just a bunch of scratches those scratches are consistant with the kind you get from bushes or tree branches. There are no broken nose no bruising or swelling to his face no busted lips no black eyes. Those are the injuries he should have had if trayvon punched him in the face 30-40 times.Trayvon was no match for him.Zimmerpunk should have been able to defuse the situation with killing a 17year old kid. He was the adult. He should have controlled his anger and speared trayvon’s life. When trayvon panicked after seeing the gun and started screaming he should have let him go.

So do you think GZ or RZ would kill her and claim self-defense? She has been accused of beating GZ and they were estranged, even though RZJ claims they are a perfect family, spiritual and non-racist. She sounds like she has a mind of her own in any case and just another dumbazz Zimmerman spewing their story to save GZ.

      • Judy75201 says:

Gladys is the iron fist in a velvet glove tyrannical ruler of the family, not a “victim”, nor is she “terrified and controlled”.

My impression exactly. Gladys is not a helpless shrinking violet “terrified and controlled.” She is a self-righteous idiot who raised self-righteous idiots, GZ and RZJ.

      • Malisha says:

I don’t think it matters if Gladys is: (1) terrified and controlled but a shrinking violet and being fooled about the case because her family and/or doctors won’t let her read anything; or (2) a vicious abusive tyrant who made Fogen what he is and who is now callously baiting a dead child’s parents by ignorantly and cruelly referring to their child as a savage; or (3) whatever. I don’t think it matters what she thinks about the case, either. I don’t think it matters what she says to the media, about the media, about the President, or about anything else. She is no authority on anything. She is no expert; she is no moral compass; she is nobody I would ever seek to learn from or listen to and I don’t care what her opinion is of ANYTHING.

Shame on her for speaking out in a way that was not apologetic, no matter what else is concerned. Shame on her forever.

        • jm says:

Regarding Gladys: I think the public perception of Gladys does matter in that anything that may get GZ sympathy via his “poor, pitiful and/or controlled” mother leads to contributions and in some respect further enables GZ to live in his fantasy world and not accept responsibility for what he did. I remember MOM used this pity ploy during one of his interviews regarding Z’s parents and grandmother with reported Alzheimer’s living in temporary housing. I don’t know MOM’s motive for mentioning this but sure but it seems like he was trying to get pity/support for GZ. As far as I am concerned the George apple did not fall far from the Glady tree regarding a sense of entitlement and superiority which may or may not have led to his profiling an “underclass” black male. Not to be argumentative but it’s just my observation of how things seem to be happening as far as public relations campaign based on pity factor for all the Z family.

All I can say is that, by the looks of things, it appears that Trayvon would have been the far better contributor to society than GZ has been able to accomplish, or probably ever would accomplish.

          • I believe Trayvon already had contributed much more than GZ ever will contribute.

          • racerrodig says:

Look at the “friends” Fogen had…then Trayvon was a good student and the fact that Trayvon was able to get into a football huddle “for a common goal” puts him so far above Fogen’s accomplishments it’s apple ‘n oranges. Then Trayvon volunteered to help with snack stand duty…..That’s just some of what we know.

Now add the fact that Trayvon saved his dad’s life by pulling him from a burning building when he was 9……Fogen would have made “get out the hot dog” joke.

          • And from what I’ve read he had a SERIOUS interest in aerospace…….no slouching there….all math & physics for the most part……….

While fogen can’t even balance his checkbook….when there’s any money in it……

          • racerrodig says:

Yep !! He wanted to be an Aeronautical Engineer…..you know…
            A Rocket Scientist.

Hi-power rocketry was another hobby of mine…..when I had access to a fully equipped machine shop.

It’s my recollection that the only statement about Gladys beating GZ and the Dad not intervening came from Osterman – that fount of verifiable informaton.

He said George told him this.

Anybody got any other source for this claim of GZ having been beaten by Gladys?

Always sounded like an early sympathy ploy, to me.

  34. Xena says:

So, GZ wanted to be a judge. At the age of 28 having failed 2 yr community college, he was zero percent on his way to achieving that goal.

    • It’s a weird thing to put on a resume. Matter of fact, if we all just put what we wanted to be, on our resume, I’d have about five or six degrees, invented things, cured things, judged things, you name it. I’d be an artist, a singer,…Yeah. I wanted to be God, but it didn’t quite work out.

      • Xena says:

@Crane-Station. GZ is still in the “when I grow up” stage. Most adult junior college students realize that when they’ve bitten off more than they can chew with their courses, they change majors or go into something vocational.

      • type1juve says:

@CS… LOL that last line just tickled me to death

    • KA says:

He was in academic probation for his 7 years at community college and he aspired to be a judge?

That still requires law school right?

      • KA says:

        ….and a degree?

      • Xena says:

@KA. I think the type of judge GZ wanted to be not only requires a JD from an accredited law school, but also passing the Bar, practicing law to establish a reputation of knowledge and ethnics, and being elected.

        • My oldest son is a lawyer……Bachelors in Criminal Justice from SDSU….then 3 years at Western School of Law in San Diego…..all accomplished in 7 years…Then passing the bar

Yet fogen couldn’t even get an AA in 7 years……Even tho he did have a “graduation” party for himself…..Just as he told Serrino he had an AA degree on the night of the murder…….

If nothing else it proves fogen is a pathological liar………

If one will lie about the little unimportant things…..How much more so would they lie to keep their ass out of prison?

      • KA says:

Seems a little far fetched to call a community school dropout a judge in the making?

      • KA says:

One of my sons is in law school. He had a 3.4 GPA and a 151 on the LSAT. He had a hard time getting in the majority of schools and had his choices narrowed to two. I cannot imagine a man with less than a 1.8 GPA in his first several years of school and multiple bouts of academic probation (and 28) actually thinking he could make it into an accredited law school. He would have a hard time getting into a state school for an undergraduate with that.

It was a play on GZ “mentoring” kids. Period. If the “Another Fogen wannabe” was black and you think I was joking about a black kid breaking the law, I want to apologize, because I would not joke about anyone breaking the law.

I could care less about the amount of weight he has gained. how can anybody feel for him? he can get up to the weight of a ton and, I wouldn’t care. he blew Trayvon’s heart apart right along with his lungs so, therefore I could care less about his thumping gizzard. he IMO don’t deserve any more than he gave Trayvon. he didn’t have to shoot that kid but, he did. so what ever happens to him for doing what he did, it will surely be all in GOD’S plan. and you can believe that I won’t judge it or second guess it, that is something that will not happen!

Will Judge Nelson ever see fit to put a muzzle on MOM? this is why he can’t be ready for this trial to begin on the agreed date of June 10 because, his getting ready to defend his client in a court of law is time taken away from him trying this case in the court of public opinion. this needs to stop and it’s up to Judge Nelson to see that it is.

MOM running his pie hole in front of any camera that will oblige him, has managed to incite some racist to the point of making threats of their own, against AA if Fogen is convicted. being called out at the last hearing did not phase this guy one bit. he knows that the only threats that are being made, are those against innocent AA if his client is found guilty. this is nothing to be made lite of or overlooked. when the NBPP put that poster out, it was not intended to do harm to Fogen. it was for his arrest and, that was not right for them to do that. just as it is not right for these people to make threats of their own, which is to do bodily harm to AA and, especially young AA males.

Fogen made his own bed on the night he shot and killed an unarmed child, not doing anything except minding his own business. when is this BS going to stop when it comes to this defense team and their antics? they are actually putting the lives of others in danger. when it comes to talking about the false threats against their client, who nobody knows his whereabouts, yet they think they are entitled to the addresses of certain witnesses who have been threatened by his minions. please Judge Nelson shut this fool up!

I would never forget how O’Mara described GZ during the bond-hearing: “fearful”, “mistrustful” and “confused”. I read between the lines of O’Mara’s recent utterances and feel that he might for once be telling the truth: GZ is deteriorating mentally, still “fearful”, “mistrustful” and “confused” while heavily medicated and might as such pose a mortal danger to himself and others (and we all know what happened to Trayvon when GZ was in a deranged mood). I worry seriously about that and think that the State has an obligation to look into that and – if necessary – motion for the revocation of his bond. O’Mara is sounding hysterical. Blood splatter in the Orr case helped to nail his coffin denying immunity. With all the head bashing and MMA hitting that GZ talks about, there’s no blood splatter on Trayvon.

Dooley sounded like he had it all wrapped up by walking away when James put his hands on him, turning him around. Even James’ daughter testified that Dooley turned to walk away when her dad tackled him. The jury however, went to the beginning and found that Dooley was the aggressor when he left his driveway/garage with a loaded gun for the purpose of confronting James.

A final thought from the same article– a quote from Sybrina.

“Sybrina Fulton, Trayvon’s mother, addressed this point in an exclusive interview with The Root: “I find it offensive that people try to say Trayvon threatened George Zimmerman. Anyone could look at my boy and see he was a kid. He had only just had his growth spurt, and was a skinny, lanky boy. He was a child. And he was my child.”

Unlike Zimmerman’s team, the Martin family hasn’t chosen to release photos. There is no stark image of Trayvon’s dead body — shot through the chest — bloodied in the gardens of Sanford, with his knuckles bruised from a fight for his life. But perhaps Americans need to see that image as much as they needed to see Emmett Till’s broken body. Otherwise, it seems, Zimmerman’s family and legal team are hell-bent on rewriting history and pushing a new narrative that says the victim had no right to live.”

A “journalist” says something that is actually true, that there’s no picture of Trayvon with “…his knuckles bruised from a fight for his life…”, but, by failing to mention that such a picture does not exist because there was no damage to the knuckles, manages to imply that there is such a picture but that it’s being withheld from public view.

Perhaps that is the photo the author was thinking about. In any event, the author was mistaken about bruised knuckles. Trayvon did not have bruised knuckles.

If people refuse to even acknowledge factual information that is publicly available there is no reason to acknowledge their opinions on this case. Its one thing to debate various interpretations of the evidence, its another to day after day repeat something everyone and their mother knows is not true and treat it as gospel.

So, on to question number two: exactly how did “ticket” come to mean “the right thing, the perfect choice, etc.”? One theory suggests that “that’s the ticket” is drawn from the French phrase “c’est l’etiquette,” meaning “that’s the proper thing or course of action,” but that is considered unlikely. Interestingly, “etiquette” itself is derived from the Old French “estiquette,” meaning “ticket or label,” which originally referred to small cards given to visitors to the Royal Court containing instructions for proper behavior.

More likely sources for “ticket” in this “just the right thing” or “just what is needed” sense include political “tickets” (roster of one party’s candidates), tickets for meals at soup kitchens given out by charities (a theory bolstered by the existence of the 18th century phrase “that’s the ticket for soup”), or a winning lottery ticket. It might, however, just reflect the general sense of “ticket,” common since the 17th century, meaning “guarantee of some kind of benefit,” also found in such phrases as “ticket to success” and “write your own ticket.”

        • racerrodig says:

@aY2z, I agree that America needs to see Trayvon’s deceased body also. then maybe those who seem to want to make an issue out of his image as well as his age when a certain photo was taken will shut the hell up. as we all know, they tried to pass the photo of a 33yr old man off as being that of Trayvon Martin. there is no level too low for these people to stoop to.

      • ay2z says:

I don’t know that the writer was suggesting that, took it as making the point about the difference, and a reminder of who the real, the one and only victim was. America doesn’t need to see that, the jury does, and will.

I also hope the jury sees the video of Serino’s interview with fogen on the 29th, when he had to show him photos of Trayvon, and make sure he knew who he was, his name, his age, his loving parents, their tremendous grief, and the fogen’s chance he will one day, face them and face their questions.

Respect for Trayvon and the family, is why that photo has not been published.

I’m wondering if the reason the defendant has not purchased a sturdy treadmill is because it would interfere with his tracking device.
The defendant may also consider using his laptop as a tool for exercise, he can use some of his donations to buy a workout dvd or two.
I don’t understand why the defendants lawyer keeps referencing the BP vest, if the defendant was smart he would wear it while walking on that treadmill to help sweat off that rotundus gut.
That vest has to be in agony, the defendant might as well use it as. a to for one investment.
If the husband and wife team invests in twin treads they can go for long mushy walks together in there bp vest, hang donuts from the ceiling and race each other for the gooey treats.

Good article ay2z; article and author: Edward Wyckoff Williams made it into my collection. Important issue. I agree with him, that’s all what the motion about continuance was about. They hope they can turn the tide and people will move on and forget. Just as they carefully attack Crump but really mean the parents. Crump only acted for them, there wouldn’t have been any “campaign” without the parents to start with.

He is absolutely correct about the image of death Martin. But just like the parents I would resist publication, it’s the most basic service to dead Trayvon. It was my immediate response too, that I did not wanted it made public ever. Least of all for all the vultures out there. They lusted after it over at the CTH. But with O’Mara flashing around the ridiculous “wounds” of Fogen as evidence it may be a strategic disadvantage. Nevertheless it should not be done.

Leaving aside whether I should have said libel instead of slander…

Well, regardless of how much legal authority a dispatcher has to order civilians around, the order of the two events cannot be reversed without it being a much different situation.

Of course people have posted stuff all over the internet because they’ve been misinformed about the order in which those two events occurred.

          unitron

          • It doesn’t matter whether the dispatcher had actual authority to order the defendant to stop following Trayvon.

The relevant question is what was the defendant’s intent. The jury will be instructed to look at his conduct to determine his intent. His refusal to comply with the dispatcher’s instruction, together with other evidence such as the defendant telling the dispatcher to tell the officer en route to call the defendant on his cell phone when he arrived in the neighborhood, constitutes powerful circumstantial evidence that the defendant intended to hunt, find and detain Trayvon to prevent him from getting away.

          • onlyiamunitron says:

If the dispatcher had said “We don’t need for you to follow him” or “We don’t need you to get out and follow him on foot” and then George had gotten out and “just happened to be walking in the same direction recently taken by Trayvon”, that makes it a lot harder to say “I wasn’t doing anything wrong” than does “When he said they didn’t need me to follow, I disengaged and went off to RVC to find an address”.

Without a witness to contradict the latter, that gives him some wiggle room that getting out of the truck AFTER being told not to would not give him.

Unitron, I guess Jeralyn would call it “evil media” or vilifying poor Fogen, close to your slander. I would prefer a more profane perspective: why not look at it as Crane does, simply a bad job. Too mundane?

      • onlyiamunitron says:

There has been, almost from the very start, plenty of misinformation that, if true, might be considered damaging for the case of one “side” or the other of this case.

I was pointing out the irony of FOX News of all places repeating one of the ones that makes Zimmerman look worse (if one is fooled into believing it).

        unitron

      • leander22 says:

unitron, I have to excuse myself for the above and the comment below. Maybe I was condescending in the way some here complained about?

Fact is: By now I am slightly allergic to the argument about Sean’s authority or missing authority. I do not like the spirit behind it. I would like to decide myself, when to obey “authority” and when not, at least to the extend I legally can, equally I may well like to decide myself, when I should better listen to someone maybe even lower on hierarchical layers than myself and when not.

In the given scenario Fogen clearly understands what the dispatcher/Sean means and responds accordingly. (to leave aside the multitude of complication arising in the authority/non-authority debate, e.g. if Sean dispatches at all)

Remember that Singleton refers to this aspect during her questioning of George that he is not meant to follow? Surely there may be a gray area between watching/observing/following or they may and do merge in Fogen’s case. … Nevertheless there are NW rules. In other words there is a difference between observing and reporting and hunting. Just as usually observing does not result in a dead “suspect”.

What your response reminds me of today with a much less merry (light) mood is this:

Could some mistakes actually be deliberate, especially aspects that have been discussed ad nauseam?

Is the passage that surprised the Prof above a bit, leading to this statement:

        You gotta love that integrity.

But triggered your protest, since it did not follow the exact sequence of events, while still catching the larger spirit. Is what you point out in fact meant to produce a strong pro-Zimmerman protest in the reader. Who has by now swallowed the narrative of “evil media” or media-misinformation? As well as taken side on the authority/no authority issue, or some type of perverted civil rights. And knows what is wrong with narrative of the evil lefties (not Jeralyn of course) since Sean has no authority.

THERE IT IS AGAIN. Media misinformation! He did not get out of the car after but before.

Is that the reason that so many mistakes surface for easy denial of intention?

Have you been manipulated into your careful lookout for media misinformation. You are the judge.

BTW, why is fogen worried about getting the fBI files? He already has pronounced on Hannity in person, that the FBI has cleared him, proven he was no racist. (now, what did Prof Leatherman say about proof when something is not found to exisit?)

No symathy here. He plainly had his choice of attorneys, having gone through several before arriving at O’Mara. Ditto the judge–when you go shopping, you takes your chances.

I had the same thought about the FBI files. What has already been released is sufficient for their purposes–making him look good. Digging around into their ongoing investigation into whether Trayvon was murdered because he was black is likely to open a hornet’s nest that cannot help them.

I loved both actually. The lightness and sarcastic humor of the article above and the elegant and easy to remember statement above. But yes, since I am rarely in a light mood, I hesitate about our abilities to grasp “the absent evidence”, or the FBI’s ability for that matter in Fogen’s case. See his ex-girl friend’s difficulties in grasping it.

    • leander22 says:

(now, what did Prof Leatherman say about proof when something is not found to exisit?)

The absence of evidence is no evidence of absence, somehow comes to mind, no idea from what synopses exactly. Closely following you cannot proof a negative, that was the first that surfaced, so that may have helped to create the larger ability to store it.

Now do I know what the first means, yes, but do I completely grasp the second (actually the first on my mind) as easily as a lawyer could make it visible in examples, I somehow doubt.

      Maybe Malisha could. 😉

Ernie: The cow ate it all!
        Bert: Where’s the cow?
Ernie: He left. There’s no more grass; why should HE stay around?

Thanks, Malisha, I love Bert and Ernie too. This skid is great. The absense of evidence … is the more easy story to grasp, really. Somehow Fogen’s story or his ill-advised believe relies on a too easy interpretation of it.

Concerning the “You cannot prove a negative” I realized by now, I shouldn’t have connected it with the second, no matter that it was the one that surfaced first and thus helped to make the one looked for surface after. That’s the problem with chattering, before switching on your brain.

        ——————

Besides, I looked into the chronology of the get Crump actions by defense, or the diverse “motions to compel” Blackwell so perfectly outlined for us. Debra Nelson will be on solid ground it feels now. I don’t even understand anymore why I worried so much. Which bring us back to Frederick’s perception that defense plays a peculiar game were hints and rumors seem to matter much more than defending their client and doing their job.

I would like to ask West, why he put matters exactly this way:

“Mr. Crump is an experienced attorney with able counsel not someone easily intimidated or one with emotional or physical limitations?”

Maybe I should ask him, or alternatively take a look into how he argued in earlier case motions. Did absent “emotional” and “physical” limitations always surface in this context? For whatever reason, I would have expected intellectual limitations in this context. What do you think?

Bruce Blackwell did an amazingly good job, but then West did a really bad one. West’s attempts to ridicule Blackwell for citing quite old case law during the last hearing won’t help defense. I am curious anyway how Nelson will put it in her written statement. I guess it will be available next week.

Justice 4 Trayvon. I’ll try to stay silent for a while. … 😉

    Mr. George Zimmerman:

Boofricketyhoo that you no feel safe in public. Welcome to MY world.

When you “started to follow him because he thought he looked suspicious” (Trayvon), you were my greatest nightmare to a mother of a teenager who “looks black.” When you shot him, it was my nightmare come true.

I would think at least now you have an idea how it feels and maybe some understanding about how black teen males feel and how their moms feel about them just even walking in public.

But somehow, from the victimization expressed in this story, I don’t think you get it at all. It has not given you more empathy or insight. And I can’t say that after what you have done I feel any safer any time my son goes out without his wife and kids. Maybe they are safer from you (or your kind) because the wife and kids are white – or maybe that makes it even worse, I don’t know. You have shown me a part of life and people under rocks I did not know existed.

But anyway, if you don’t feel safe in public, I am not happy about that (everyone should be able to feel safe) but I sure as hell don’t feel sorry for you.

    • Rachael says:

oops, no longer feel safe – I guess I was upset when I wrote that.

    • lurker says:

Obama summed it up best when he said, “If I had a son, he would look like Trayvon.”

Parents of black boys and young black men got it.

I don’t know if others did.

      • Xena says:

@lurker. No, they didn’t get it. They think if President Obama had a son, he would look like GZ. or Justin Bieber, or Jackie Chan, or maybe Tripp Palin.

    • Right on.

      *clapping*

Plus, according to my math and calculations, he would have been better off mentally and physically, plus he’d be able to finance a defense, if he’d stayed in jail. He is really, I think the only person I have ever seen, who was actually likely better off to stay in jail, while awaiting trial. This is not easy for anyone to hear, but this man has not done himself any favors at all. Hell, at this rate, the both of them should have parked in jail and shut their mouths.

      • towerflower says:

Too bad fogen didn’t have parents who had to give him “the talk” I’ve heard that black parents have to give to their children, to be aware of their surroundings and actions when out in public so as not to be profiled. Too bad, his father never gave him a talk that his actions outside the home might have consequences.

      • rayvenwolf says:

Tower – I only got a variance of “the talk” when my mother thought I might be a lesbian. And it was mostly along the lines of “I don’t care, but others will. You’re black and a woman, that’s two strikes against you in some people’s eyes. You’re insanely intelligent, which will make it worse.” Both my folks are from the south(1930’s and 1950’s) but I was born and raised in vegas. They did their best to not pass on any anger built up from what they both went through in the past.

        • I didn’t really know how to bring this up, but I was raised in the Pacific Northwest, and we simply were not…exposed, I guess is the word, to this hate. Man, I learned a whole different deal moving to Kentucky, and some folks don’t even consider this to be South, although this area tends to self-identify as South.

Then, along comes this awful case, from Florida. I have never seen hate like this before in my life. People not even being shy about it, just owning that hate, loud and proud. I never imagined it could be this way.

          • rayvenwolf says:

Crane same here. In truth the worst things ever said to me came from other blacks. I acted white. I talked funny etc. One long convo with my mother later and I realized that I shouldn’t let people who are frightened by my differences or simply jealous because I was doing better, be they classmates or family stop me from being who I am and doing whats right. Heck even going down to Arkansas for family reunions was never too shabby, admittedly though we spent the whole week in Magnolia sitting around eating, hanging out and going to church.

I’ve got too much backbone from dealing with fools in my own community to deal with it from others. So gods help whomever I may run into one day who flashes their bigot card at me or my son.

          • You’ve also got too much writing talent to let that slip past. You mention backbone, that’ll keep you safe from attack, I think. I have noticed that some people are able to put their racist bigotry on the downlow, when encountering a smart woman with backbone. The ones who don’t are on their own.Just something I have observed among women, not really sure if I made sense.

          • racerrodig says:

Unfortunately they’re out there..loud and proud, but we do outnumber them by quite a margin.

          • Good to know, and I keep reminding myself.

      • lurker says:

You know, that was one of the saddest and scariest first reactions to this case. I know about the talk and I’ve had occasion to give the talk. One of the things that Obama brought to us, recalling his talk on race following the Reverend Wright revelations, was the hope that a generation might have arrived that was able to transcend the need and consciousness behind that talk. The crashing realization was that even the talk (always about watch how you act because people will be watching and judging you) was insufficient. It was such a complete and total throwback to days when simply being black and in the wrong place was enough.

      • leander22 says:

So gods help whomever I may run into one day who flashes their bigot card at me or my son.

I like that. I am sad to have lost an article by a black female journalist, I think at least she was. I wish I would have saved the link or would remember her name.

The author talked about her own experiences with prejudice. There were a couple of stories that made it really vivid to grasp.

One was about her, one about her son, the rest I do not remember. The story about her was about burglaries or shoplifting, which I realized during my times as a student working in a special project, but just well from witnessing the huge store of records or books in the flat of co-students working in either bookshops or record shops, it is in fact often done not by customers but by employees. … In any case it happened when she worked while studying in a shop. She was immediately singled out as the prime suspect. She was the only black employee in the shop. Accident?

The much more interesting story, at least to me, concerned her son. He happened to be a very good student in mathematics. I loved mathematics too, and had very, very good teachers expect one lady, ironically. Maybe a fast route education post WWII, with quite a bit of necessary cleaning. There were such projects in the French governed South of Germany. But the French seem to have given up at one point. The teachers were a prominent group among the new party members post Hitler’s take over, they may have been partly fearing to loose their jobs. I can say now, that I am older. There was such an inflow that they stopped admitting new members for a while. But it was hard to face them at the time, I can tell you.

In any case, the boy had to confront enormous prejudices. It was simply taken for granted a black boy cannot ever be good in mathematics. I really would love to read her story again.

LA in the times of your parents triggers a lot too. But I will leave it at that. Too long anyway. 😉

      • leander22 says:

LA in the times of your parents, well maybe even yours if you belong to us elders that would need to be. 😉

One of the things that Obama brought to us, recalling his talk on race following the Reverend Wright revelations, was the hope that a generation might have arrived that was able to transcend the need and consciousness behind that talk.

What do you mean by “Reverent Wright revelations” exactly? I watched the debate, listened to quite a few of his speeches or sermons. Strictly I would prefer a universe were such a debate couldn’t even happen. It feels it already had racial undertones. Much of what Wright said made perfect sense to me, why couldn’t he be a part of a larger choir of American voices.Similar things happened to others. Susan Sontag? I can’t help but aspects of the debate were part of my basic impression: double standards, something I safely considered a 19th relic before taking a closer look at politics. Although, yes I have to admit I payed limited attention to politics before. And yes, it may have been there all over the place without me registering it to the extend I did post 911.

      • leander22 says:

something I safely considered a 19th relic before taking a closer look at politics.

The Nazis to me are a 19 century backlash against progression or progressive voices during the Weimar Republic. Without support from the conservative camp Hitler wouldn’t have made it.

  60. ay2z says:

How much mileage will they get in court with that photo? Really, they need to make sure no parents or grandparents, or school first aid attendants, get on the jury.

    • towerflower says:

I really don’t care about the photo he flashes around, it is the other photos that the Professor talks about that will matter, he can’t explain those away.

  61. Why is it that I get the feeling that the author of the FOX Snooze piece was home schooled?

  62. lurker says:

I see more bad news in the OS. The FBI says they don’t have to respond to the judge’s order to release their findings in what is an ongoing investigation. The also note that there was an appropriate means by which O’Mara could request their info, that O’Mara knew the appropriate means, and opted instead to ask for the judge’s order.

Also ee that NBC has asked to postpone any legal action against them until after the murder trial.

    • ay2z says:

It was all in the plan to gain sympathy, a big bad government conspiracy against poor fogen so they can go cry to their supporters over at the the Fox softball franchise. They were informed of proceedure, they ignored it for the opportunity to get sympathy.

      • lurker says:

Oh, that’s right. They will be blaming Obama and Eric Holder.

      • dbj says:

I get the impression that the FBI and NBC are holding off on taking any further action in lieu of the upcoming trial. I suppose if they were to show their hand now they would probably jeopardize their cases and spark another rash of donations to flood into Zimmerman’s bank account. Best to wait to see how the trial plays out especially since all of his resources will be spent by then.

  63. Lord knows I try to be respectful.

But sometimes the river of bullshit gets so deep that I can only mock and laugh at the fools who are responsible.

Meanwhile, I agree with Crane about the photo.

    Priceless commentary.

Both of them appear to be quite mad.

    What a freak show!

  64. O’Mara says wears a disguise and a bulletproof vest whenever he is in public yet turns around and says he stays inside his secure location all day long due to threats.

    So which is it O’Mara?

    • The freak comes out at night wearing a bullet proof vest, a mask and a cape as he patrols urban neighborhoods in search of dangerous teenage boys packin’ Skittles and tea.

    • racerrodig says:

Same here, I wish they’d make up their minds. I didn’t reflect, I did,……………I stay in all day…..I wear a disguise when I go out every day…..

    • KittySP says:

IMO, the weight gain in itself is disguise enough compared to a year ago. How much of a disguise can he actually be wearing in public while staying in all day? GeeZ, some shades, fake mustache, and baseball cap are all that’s needed. GZ, it’s time to wear your shame as boldly and proud, as you cared your CCW permit and gun!

      • Malisha says:

He could put on an orange wig and Batman clothes, grab an assault weapon and an ammo belt, as well as a big container of buttered popcorn, and go as James Holmes.

  65. Trained Observer says:

Professor … cry you a river? How about an ocean? Although our best approach — were it not for the tragedy of Trayvon’s death — might be to laugh and snicker this guy off the face of the earth.

My favorite MOM part: Fogen being “disenfranchised” about the legal proceedings thus far. Soon, although not soon enough, he’ll find out what disenfranchisement is all about.

  66. Trained Observer says:

Posted this on an earlier thread, but it’s more germane here:

Fogen’s dramatic weight gain — deliberate or not — must be creating monitoring device difficulty, what with likelihood of swollen ankles. Are these devices easily adjustable, and do they come in XXX-large?

Also wonder if Fogen and the missus bought health insurance with any of the OPM defense funding. If not, a hospital emergency run for a simple gastro-related ailment could end up costing a few thousand bucks, between the ambulance ride and routine testing/treatment.

MOM already is beginning to publicly moan about Fogen’s stress and depression.

Don’t know whether Judge Nelson has legal standing to do so, but if MOM keeps verbally heading down the physical and mental illness trail in open court, I’d like to see her revoke Fogen’s bail on grounds that he’s a danger to himself … if not others.

Once jailed, heart healthy meals could be delivered to the gobbler’s cell, and a cap could be put on his canteen purchases. Options for his pulling any other stunts also would be curbed, and the state would cover his medical needs.

I don’t want to see this turkey getting a continuence over health issues … especially those of his own making .

    • They have managed to dump, what looks like a medical emergency onto the passing public, and we are not the ones who can help. If the man is truly in this much medical and psychiatric trouble, he needs to be evaluated and treated by licensed medical and psychiatric doctors, and any efforts less than this goal, are reckless on the part of the lawyer right now, IMO.

It’s like refusing a visit to the ER on the night of the shooting.

      • lurker says:

Well, he does appear to have an eating disorder, along with his other obsessions. Recall he lost weight before the arrest and now has ballooned. He really does not seem to be a mentally healthy person. Not the sore of issues that would constitute an insanity defense, but certainly the kind of compulsions and poor decision-making that make him a very poor candidate for gun ownership.

  67. @Prof, please don’t read the articles the Orlando Sentinel puts out, you’d cry you an ocean.

  68. jm says:

MOM has become about as despicable and disgusting as GZ in his cover-up, excuses and lies. He is an ugly pimp hoping to get dollars and notoriety for himself via donations for “pitiful” GZ. He is equal to RZJ in his goal to get his name and face in the news.

As lurker says, how does GZ receive threats if no one knows his location. The very good reason GZ is stressed is because he is being exposed as the lying killer that he is and he will be going to prison very soon.

Since when does living in 4 rooms make you fat? I always thought it was over indulging in food and drink with lack of exercise. And whose fault is it that GZ is living in 4 rooms?

    MOM is sickening.

    • racerrodig says:

“As lurker says, how does GZ receive threats if no one knows his location. ”

Like this (racer walks to shop door, opens door and shouts Hey Fogen…..you’ll get yours !!) Did you hear me ??

    • towerflower says:

My guess is they are mailing them to MOM’s office, he has that address listed for checks.

      • lurker says:

Actually, CNN did an analysis of letters to Z last week. I don’t recall specifically how they broke down their categories, but I don’t remember them saying very much about threats.

      • jm says:

towerflower: “My guess is they are mailing them to MOM’s office, he has that address listed for checks.”

Then MOM should report them to see if there is someway to trace them back to the sender I also wonder why MOM would share these “threats” to GZ?

      • Xena says:

        @lurker

I don’t recall specifically how they broke down their categories, but I don’t remember them saying very much about threats.

It’s one thing to say “I hope you rot in hell” and another to say “I’m going to set you on fire.” The letters shown on CNN consisted of people expressing their disgust with GZ and were not direct threats. Let’s face it too — those letters could be coming from GZ supporters as part of their propaganda scheme. GZ might be writing some himself.

        • onlyiamunitron says:

“Do you think you can slow it down a bit?”
        Geesh…. “And no more Twinkies!”

  69. God, it’s like a race to the bottom.

Here is my problem with Mark O’Mara today. Mr. O’Mara, you might want to read. When a lawyer, on the one hand, walks out of the courtroom, leaving the client sitting alone in a chair, on camera, but then on the other hand, gives statements to the press that appear to show concern, it looks disingenuous to the passing public who is observing.

FOX News, come on, son. I’m serious. Hire an editor. What the hell is this statement really supposed to mean?

“He said Zimmerman, who previously aspired to be a judge, looks forward to the trial to begin, but has been disenfranchised about the legal proceedings thus far.:

Is that supposed to mean ‘disenchanted,’ maybe, and if so, why didn’t the editor catch this? It’s not an isolated typo, FOX. You had another major typo blunder in the Drew Peterson article.

I am rambling. I don’t even know what to say to this stuff anymore.

Looks like whoever chose the photo for the article is trying to sabotage MOM and GZ’s message.

What was really surreal about Hannity is that even Mr. Hannity seemed a bit derailed. I cannot even begin to imagine what they were thinking, running another version of another story on a major national media show. I’ll bet the prosecution filed that subpoena before the show was even over.

And, as an aside, has anyone actually kept up with the wackos from the NBPP—who have been the fall guy in the threats department. While the Z. supporters have whined about how they were not arrested and locked up (for a poster that I believe was immediately pulled as soon as someone pointed out to them the kind of deep water they could be in with it), it seems that I recall that one of them was arrested shortly thereafter on a parole violation (possession of a firearm). He’s never had a problem calling the police… If Fogen received a threat to break his pinky fingernail, he would’ve called 911, filed police reports, launched a state wide investigation and manhunt, and filed a multi-million dollar lawsuit to replenish his Schadenfreude profit fund.

    • Two sides to a story says:

FOIA requests to whatever law enforcement agency handles his area would clear that up.

    • Bill Taylor says:

since the public has no knowledge of where zman is or how to contact him how could anyone make any “threat”?

      • Big Willie says:

Duh… You would think MOM would’ve thought about that before he opened his mouth.

The Raskolnikov effect = crime – sore conscience – punishment. Or in short: Crime and Punishment.

It doesn’t need to be out there, it’s on the inside wanting out.

Ages ago, I noticed that my late poet friend Alan Ginsburg, choose the same identification character in Dostoevsky as me. Hint, it is not Raskolnikov. An almost saintly epileptic. 😉

I hope BdlR will press this issue, and force the defense to prove GZ’s receiving death threats. Naturally they can’t because he hasn’t. I wonder if his former security agency is aware of any threats, real or made up.

I hope the state leaves no stone unturned.

Can’t see how it would be pertinent. Most of the stuff that O’Mara is spreading around right now isn’t pertinent and he knows he cannot bring it into court. Hence, at every turn he will put it out in the public eye, hoping to influence jurors.

We already know there are no credible threats simply from the fact AIS felt that all the bells and whistles were not needed to what Fogen. So me a death threat sent in person or left at his hiding spot(former or current) and then I might believe him. I’ll want some handwritting analysis done on everyone in his inner circle against the letters(if they aren’t typed) first however.

        • racerrodig says:

          Here’s a threat…
“Dear Mr. FogenPhoole, I sent you a lot of my money so’s you will have a really good defense. It doesn’t look like you will win so can I have all my money back….or else”

PS my neighbor wants his back also ‘cuz he needs new tail lights for his house.

      • Malisha says:

Here’s my threat: Go buy some skittles, Fogen! Go! Go buy some skittles! Buy skittles, Fogen, GOOOOO!

GZ and MOM need to take that, “woe is me” pity party, and sit down some where! “He never feels safe,” Mark O’Mara, his lawyer, told FoxNews.com. “His security has been cut and he stays inside his secure location all day long due to threats.”

Oh well! Guess that’s the consequences of your own actions! It just boggles the mind that he feels he’s still entitled to the same freedom/liberties that are no longer afforded Trayvon as a result of GZs actions…to quote Crane-Station: “Whiskey Tango Foxtrot?!?!”

      • KittySP says:

I’d be willing to bet its the security team sending threats! They want their money George…pay up!

      • racerrodig says:

“He never feels safe,” Too Bad…..keep your pistol at home and Trayvon would be alive and you wouldn’t be looking at prison.

      • PiranhaMom says:

Well, precious George, Trayvon Martin has to stay in his “secure location all day long …” due to being shot in the heart by some narcissistic racist.

        Quit whining!

      • LOL! as IF he’s so special!

He just want’s the pity from the zimmerlovers so he paints himself as the victim and as expected they’ll send him more money.

Hate to burst his pity party, but he is the safest mofo in Sanford florida!
He’s wearing an ankle bracelet and his bail bondsman wouldn’t let anything happen to him!

    • SpecialladyT says:

OMara admitted on his site that the threats are rare and they are only online. The two of them are full of shit, just another attempt to suck more money out of people.
