Impersonation Truth and the Importance of Civility

Saturday, December 29, 2012

Someone has been impersonating me at the Huffington Post using the name Professor Leatherman. The impostor is a Zimmerman supporter attempting to discredit me and the work I do seeking justice for Trayvon. I have notified legal counsel for the blog and asked them to ban the individual and delete his/her posts.

They may or may not do so.

I do not post on other blogs and I do not plan to do anything more about this incident because everyone here recognizes my writing style and knows where I stand on the issues. I am not freaked out by this attack and I do not believe any of you should be either. The people who oppose what we do here do not have the truth on their side. They lie and they cheat and there is no reason I can think of that will cause them to change their tactics.

I choose to ignore them and I urge all of you to do the same.

I watched a movie last night and retired early.

When I read the comments this morning, I was surprised by all of the sniping and complaining that went on last night.

We are family and occasional disagreements will happen. We need to respect the co-equal rights of others to complain when they believe we have trespassed against them. The complaints, however, must be civil and respectful.

We are all on the same side here. Taking the high road while we seek justice for Trayvon Martin and his family is far more important than our disagreements with each other.

Remember the principle of Namaste: That which is divine within me acknowledges that which is divine within you.

Resolve to communicate with each other at that level and there will be no misunderstanding whether you are the person you claim to be.

Ignore the treehouse. Nothing they say is worth listening or responding to. They never speak the truth and are incapable of communicating at our level.

Namaste

Mr. Leatherman, just thought I’d let you know that there is another person on Huff Po’ impersonating you by the name of: masoninblue.

@ Coln Black. I don’t think that is the only term for the word Namaste. I think it can be used as a term of worship. I think.

Unless you watched all seasons of Lost you wont understand Namaste ..Kind of inside joke with fans off Lost at least in the UK.

A plane crashes on a strange Island an the survivours are stranded an lost.

When we learn the history of the Island it does indeed have mystical magical power.

Even the Ability to time shift to different eras

Wich is how we learn of its history. At one point in time a group called the Dharma Inisitive I think set up a base there to study the Islands weird behaviour. Sorry for O T.

    @ Judy75201. No problem.

  9. Mary Davis says:

@ Judy75201. I was referring to Nef05. I might be wrong, but I thought it was Nef05. I don’t know if he changed his name. Nefertari05’s tone seemed to be somewhat different. Please don’t take this the wrong way, I don’t mean any harm.

    • Judy75201 says:

Sorry, Mary, I was actually asking Prof Fred, and probably should have done that under the post where he said that he confirmed that ( one or the other) was a long-time poster here. Cheers.

      • Nefertari05 says:

Except he didn’t need to because to answer your question he said “same person”. How you get “one or another” as different from “same” is very interesting.

    • Nefertari05 says:

Mary, I’m the same and a she.

      • Judy75201 says:

Why do you post under two different names? Just curious.

      • Nefertari05 says:

cause Nef is short for Nefertairi, and Nef got hacked here 2. She’s my favoriten queen. She was so beloved he named her “she was named, she for whom the sun risises”.

For equallity sake, Her temple is equal to the kings, And her temple size is the olny one on earth where the queen is equal in size the Pharrao

      • Nefertari05 says:

@ jUDY- How is it any YOUR business? If you can find ANY lillegitimate arrestable offense, You’re talking like defense., Why are you talking like talking like the defense???

  10. Judy75201 says:

For clarity, is it Nef05 or Nefertari05 who has been a long-time poster here? Asking purely out of curiosity. Thanks.

      • Nefertari05 says:

Thank you very much, professor. It hurt more than I can say to be thought as a nuthouse with no evidence but gossip. Thank you.

    • Nefertari05 says:

Prt i – What right do you have to remove someone . The Professor and probably Crane-Station have that right. The PROFESSOR oF aware of my status. What makes you think you have that AUTHORITY. What makes toy think you can act like a high school “mean girl”, and that’s gonna somehow be OK????

Prt -2 The professor’s had enough/ I’VE had enough. Even people who doen’t like me have had eough. So looking forward to New Years eve in DETROIT. It’s so unfortunate there are always crossfires, unfortunatly with all the layoffs, it’s not helping and more you black males will be dead. 😦

      • cielo62 says:

Nef~ seriously, relax. Not every comment or question is meant to offend you.

Also, wht do you mean in your Prt 2? Some kind of war starting in Detroit in 2013? And I wasn’t invited?       Please take it easy. I don’t think there’s a conspiracy here against you. But honestly, you sometimes make no sense.

No, NYE in Detroit IS a war. Devil’s night comes close but we’ve been able to restrain that. But 10s of thousands drunks (conservatively) shooting everything from .22s to .50cal with massive stores of ammunition is a war.

And no, you’re right, not every comment, thought the comments based on a lurker calling me a troll (projection, hello) with no evidence and no history vs a poster of several months with a demonstrable history with proof. Do you not consider that with ALL the blockbuster developments in this case recently, she didn’t come out until the target was the PROF. and then it was to laugh, belittle, denigrate the message and messenger with laughs and vague insinuations, with no truth – and I posted clear evidence.

YES, I was mad, and I was even madder that you all accepted the “truth” of the HP impersonator I revealed, but THEN you revile the very person who gave it to you. You take my truth, but call me a liar. How does that work??

This was never about me. It was about the professor, I only got in the way when I saw the posting. which was why MY loyalty demanded he be informed ASAP. Apparently YOUR loyalty demands that person be reviled with NO evidence held forth. YES, I believe there’s a conspiracy and I don’t care if you think I make no sense. Many have been victims, not the least of which Prof Leatherman and family. I was in early Nov, early Dec and as recently as yesterday (as I privately informed those who should Know).

I am not an 1800s little hysterical woman. If you want me to “relax” then don’t post on this subject, as the professor suggesseted.

LOL! You sure do sound like a much aggrieved hysterical woman! After you blew your horn of warning, that should have been it. But instead it ballooned into hysterical accusations about who said what, that dragged on for days! I don’t know how to recognize trolls so I cant call you one. But I DO recognize hysteria. Stay out of Detroit. Take a Xanax and have a happy new year.

Mary Davis, thank you for the compliment!

I always wanted to write comedy. I’m trying to put together a stand-up schtick for a friend of mine to use, but I have to work harder on it than I have in the past. She’s very funny but in a different way than me, so it’s hard for me to find “comic moment” for her body language. Anyway, thanks thanks!!

Yes, Malisha and Grahase always make great contributions here. There is a new post up now.

    • Malisha says:

Shudder to think what kind of Magistrate Zim Senior was indeed! He was the kind of magistrate, no doubt, who felt that any Black person’s home should be searched: “Give them a warrant”; that any Black person identified to him should be arrested and held until charges could be obtained: “Give them a warrant”; that a “real suspicious looking guy” should be rousted: “Get a warrant out there, quick!” etc. etc.

The apple did not fall far from the tree, that’s my guess. Any Black kid who had a bicycle would be fair game for Magistrate Zim Senior; any Black man who had a computer; any Black woman who had a designer handbag; etc. etc. I wish there were records of what warrants the guy issued but there probably aren’t.

When I saw what was happening yesterday on this blog and impersonators, I did not want to take any chances. I am new to this kind of stuff.

  13. Mary Davis says:

@ Everyone. Thank you all for heeding the professor’s advice. I was saddened when I read the comments on the other thread. It was Nef05 who first warned the professor about the impersonator.
Think about it, if they impersonate the professor on HP, what do you think their next stragy will be. To cause confusion on his own blog. I recognized this right away. Good to see everyone getting along again. If we want to make an impact, and others to join in the fight for justice for Trayvon, we must stay on the high road. Nef05 has been posting here for as long as I have been reading here. I think we all should know everyone’s posting style by now. Thank’s again.

    • onlyiamunitron says:

      @Mary Davis

      Speaking of impersonation truth…

“It was Nef05 who first warned the professor about the impersonator.”

Was it Nef05 or was it Nefertari05, who says she was originally Nef05 until an imposter showed up and she had to change it, because both posted in that thread, and I couldn’t tell for sure which was which, except that Nefertari05 mentioned when she and I both had the words of someone else appearing with our screen names attached several months ago.

This was several months ago, before any of those recently lambasting me (except Prof L) were posting here and making the mistake of thinking that I was the one new to the site.

As a matter of fact, I see posts from both of them on this thread, and am having trouble telling them apart, and I wonder if WordPress hasn’t gotten so screwed up that sometimes it assigns the old name and sometimes the new to posts from the same account/person.

I do know first hand that it is or at least was possible for it to appear, at least on this site, that a post came from me when it didn’t, but now I’m wondering if it wasn’t WordPress incompetence rather than troll malice.

      • Nefertari05 says:

I AM THE SAME PERSON! I can’t believe they’re bringing this mess us again, after the prof requested to move on.

I was NEF05 when I got hacked. I changed it when you, I and the Prof talked about the hacking. It was the uname to several accounts which me it eaier to rememberthey usually CA<LL me Nef, because it's shorter and easier. . I don'tsee unitron being questioned about his "hacked" name.

PS, I NEVER lambasted you. I knew who you were and what side toy. were on. It's maybe wordpress, but mostly troll malice.

        • onlyiamunitron says:

Nefertari05, I brought it up because I’m seeing posts here labeled Nefertari05 and I’m seeing posts here labeled Nef05, and I don’t know if it’s two different people posting from two different accounts, or one person posting from two different accounts, or one person posting from one account but WordPress can’t make up its mind which name belongs to the account or what.

And no, you weren’t among those who jumped on me based on all sorts of wild assumptions they made about me, those were all johnny-come-latelys.

And I do remember that several months ago I wasn’t the only one to have someone else’s words appear under my name.

We might be able to converse “unhacked” in the latest thread at bcclist or back over at LL2

I don’t know what evidence it is you think I refuse to look at, unless it’s something that supposedly refutes stuff I didn’t say in the first place that was ascribed to me by others.

If you can’t manually override your iPod’s (iPhone’s?) auto-correct when it’s in error, perhaps you shouldn’t trust it to express what you’re trying to say.

Deliberate and intentional name mangling around here is so pervasive that I don’t think it was unreasonable of me to think that’s what happened.

If I was mistaken about your intentions, then I apologize for the misunderstanding, and wish you’d pointed out at the time that it was only the error of some device, and not an intentional belittlement like the rest.

If an imposter had gained control of one of those two accounts, back when there was only one account, and the second account was created to allow you to abandon the first one so that people would know that what was being said was not being said by you, why would you go back to using it and continue to use the second one as well?

I prefer to only read news articles on places like HLN that require you to post using your Facebook account. I have seen many racist posts on there, but at least they do it without hiding their identity or trying to impersonate somebody else. Other news sites will let you create any username that is not taken, making impersonation a lot easier for the trolls.

There should be limits to Freedom of Speech, but unfortunately the racist trolls can say whatever they want without any sort of repercussions. Hate speech and racist comments should be a crime in this country. So much for “All men are created equal”.

So am I an Ive experianced raceism on many occasions. An from many diffrent colours an races.Im a Scot an my very surname causes dissdain an sometimes hate from my fellow countrymen..If you delve into Scotish History for a couple of thousand years a Tribeall sytem developed

We called them Clans an there were quite a few /McGreggors..Campells..Mc Donalds.Clan McKenzie an on an on.Sometimes people within thease clans commited crimes. An there were differnt punishments.
Next to death an to some even worse was banishment.Thease banished individualls be they from the Mc donalds or Campells wherever

Wher known as a Black Cambell A Black Mc Connell you get the picture.Over a while many of the outcast banded together an collectively known as the Blacks. An thats where my surname wich is Scotish derived from.An beleive it or not some of that bias lingers till today..But the raceist comments from my fellow countrymen though done in jest can be hurtfull when your a child. Its nothing compared to raceism Ive encountered in other countrys

Been spat at had horrible things said.An the most violent thing ever inflicted on me as a raceist provoked attack was a warm ommelete thrown on my face…eggsaltted

    • Two sides to a story says:

Bigotry certainly takes on many different forms. I have a Scottish friend in the UK who always refers to “going up north” when she visits home, and is embarrassed by her nationality because of the negative attitudes about Scots that still persist in the UK. Of course, there was the intense hatred of the Irish in the US as they immigrated during the potato famine in the 19th century, and now people around the world make fun of various people of the same color due to cultural or religious issues.

I myself live in an area that is 80% nonwhite, and you can bet I’ve experienced reverse racism, even though people wouldn’t know that my mother’s family is actually mixed, and I have mixed race children and an international / mixed extended family. Why would I live where I live if I had any objection to other races or cultures? Diversity is wonderful! Anyway, I take the reverse racism in stride and ignore it since bigotry has been heaped on those who are lobbing it at me. But it’s much harder here to get a job with white skin, LOL!

Bigotry is the gift that keeps on giving, unfortunately, so if we can each do a little to weed it out in our own lives and bear witness when we see it, then we’ve made life a little better for future generations.

      • Dennis says:

Racism is still very alive in eastern Europe countries as well. Wayne Simmonds, a black NHL player, was a victim of racist chants while playing a game overseas in the Czech Republic. Simmons was also the victim of racism while skating for a shootout in Canada. Someone threw a banana on the ice.

Scientists traced all humans back to a single woman in Africa 200,000 years ago. We are all related to each other no matter what color we are or what country our ancestors came from. Unless we work to end things like racism and poverty, humanity will never evolve.

Exposing trolls and impersonators makes a record. Once doing so, it makes more of an impression on the site/organization that allows that activity.

Back around April when I commented on Yahoo articles and saw the games being played, I shared it with a friend who also happens to be an attorney. He asked something that stuck with me; i.e., how many people read comments on news articles anyway? Of those who do and comment, how many return after their initial visit to respond or read further comments? Most people commenting to news articles do not return to that article.

If commentators do not receive notifications, they seldom remember what article they commented on and thus, do not return to it. IOWs, all that filth by trolls is in vain.

If all pro-Trayvon people stayed off comments to news articles, the trolls would starve and the site/organization that allows their filth will see the results in their advertising dollars decreasing. To say it another way, and IMO, posting comments on news articles is not supporting justice for Trayvon but rather, supporting the news site that uses “hits” to attract and maintain advertisers.

Trolls sit on comments to news articles because they know they can get away with their filth. Most blog owners, OTOH, do think responsibly as to the impression their blog gives.

“Professor Leatherman” the impostor, will have his/her/its comments scroll off into never-never land. The real Professor Frederick Leatherman will have Frederick Leatherman law blog until and unless he decides to delete it.

Sounds like a great plan. I used to comment on Click Orlando and Orlando Sentinel news articles about GZ, but after awhile I realized I was only giving bait to the “multiple” supporters of GZ I quit. It seems there are the same “supporters” posting on these sites 24-7 ready to hammer all things Trayvon in support of GZ.

The only good thing I learned from one of those sites is about Professor Leathermans blog from a pro-Trayvon poster.

Maybe I am delusional but I do believe most of the posters are Zimmerman family clan members or MOM low-level employees.

They all seem to have the same style which is rather than defend GZ, they attack Trayvon, his family and their legal representatives.

            That’s a fact, yes!

I was on a Yahoo news article one day reading comments and as I sat there reading, I actually saw handles change — the person was using the same account and changing handles, then poof — the handle changed to a de-activated “A Yahoo! User.” The de-activation is to prevent the abuse robot from working so their comments cannot be reported for abuse.

Within 10 minutes, I discovered that “Not Just Another Yahoo! User,” “Onto You” “Alexander the Great,” “Dave,” “Tim,” “Ken” “Michael” and “Richard” all changed to “A Yahoo! User,” being the same person. LOL!!!

Very true and if you follow what I’ve been doing for months is simply baiting the trolls. If you remember I have a few Federal LE connections. They can’t do what we do by law. I asked to be of help by drawing these scumbags out when I first thought that Fogen and his posse were the main Zidiots. It worked to a T and I can say, they have a problem. Many here and elsewhere have stated to the effect that “…don’t they know about IP address’s”

They mustn’t because they keep it up. You would be surprised at who is who on other sites. Some of the names that come and go are those who are actually “at work” Friggin Fogen just isn’t bright enough to see what is happening, just like all of his talk and actions.

“I spread his arms out in a Y Huh????
“It happened at the T” What ??
“I had blood in my eyes” Where ??
“My nose was broken” Prove it !!
“I had to be careful not to shoot my left hand” Run that by me
          again

          “Take 37 dollars……..” Only $37.00 ??
“Peter Pan………” Oh, another fairy tale
“I thought my head was about to explode” We could only wish
          “…more like………skipping” Are you kidding me ??
“It was Gods plan” Right ya heathen
          “I have no regrets…” You’re a depraved bastard dude

When one looks at what he says as routine answers don’t you have the reactions I state with each comment of his. This is nothing compared to what has been discussed as a whole as to thinking Trayvon would actually attack anyone for no reason. For that klan to think they can convince anyone that this happened like he says it did is so laughable that I have no other words other than…he’s a joke.

Reality…..not a lick of reality do they indulge in. I would never be in his shoes, but I can tell you I’d be working on a real explanation and avoid any contradictions at all cost if I was, but that’s just me.

Hey, isn’t it about time for him to do another TV interview ??

      • Nefertari05 says:

racer, I destroyed his agument 2 days ago. I got him to publicly admit that Fogen had wristlock and able to ATTEMPT to escape. It’s posted. Just look for my comments.

OK, Nef referred me to a point in the Serino interview where George DID say that he grabbed Trayvon’s hand, and Serino then followed up with the description of wrist control to which George seems to agree. You made your point. I will swallow some “drivel” on this one!

(I still think your bullet fragment comment is totally inane, though)
        —————————————————————————————————————————-
        Nef:
Irrelevant. We all KNOW what wristcontrol is. Ergo, he did not “exhaust” opportunities, nor does it meet the standard for self-defense. GUILTY! BTW – I never said he had a fragment. I’ve already admitted limited knowledge, so PROVE I said something I admitted I new little about.” :

        • racerrodig says:

I read that the other day and I was stunned he took one on the chin and admitted it. I have been biting my tongue and it is a real struggle to avoid posting there. I watch and store the garbage for later use.

      • Nefertari05 says:

Nope, that was all you, buddy. You got me back on a mission when we had those discussions of “private” sources that were always spot on. I’m still trying to decide the “gun thing’? Many think it’s the CPL refund, which is a darn good idea.

But, I think, based on what you said at the time, that it just might be the restriction of a CPL for anyone who had “a misdemeanor adjudication of guilty” as granted to Fogen by his anger management.

CAVEAT: It expires in three years, meaning time up. BUT, I also read that documentation showing completion of the program and court signoff are required with the application. And, as I’ve repeated before – Fogen has impulse control issues, delayed self-gratification issues – and does anyone think someone who can’t keep up with his passport(s) was going to “wait” to get his next toy? How long did he wait to get the new gun he was carrying when arrested? Any info, Racer? Professor, maybe?

@racer, Robert Zimmerman Sr. is a pretty ignorant man to be playing silly high school games the way he is doing. one would think that he would act a little more along the lines of his age instead of acting in the manner which he has chosen. he acts as if his son is not at fault for the situation in which he finds himself. Fogen made the decision to follow, attack, and kill a seventeen year old child on the night of 02/26/12. this man needs to *grow* up and stop acting like the *idiot* that we all know he is. I shudder to think what kind of magistrate he was, since he is acting like such a idiot now. his son’s problems were brought about by himself and not his victim.

    Divinity?

If one can accept a talking bush, well then the sky is literally the limit. As far as the new Olympian event of sky talking, you might want to consider the following:

The earliest written form of the Germanic word God (always, in this usage, capitalized[7]) comes from the 6th century Christian Codex Argenteus. The English word itself is derived from the Proto-Germanic * ǥuđan. Most linguists[who?] agree that the reconstructed Proto-Indo-European form* ǵhu-tó-m was based on the root * ǵhau(ə)-, which meant either “to call” or “to invoke”.[8] The Germanic words for God were originally neuter—applying to both genders—but during the process of the Christianization of the Germanic peoples from their indigenous Germanic paganism, the word became a masculine syntactic form.[9]

Sorry you have had this experience my friend. And once again, who can doubt that Diogenes happily ended his quest when he recognized the far reaching light of your mind.

    Namaste with reservations.

  20. I often wonder how many of those that spout their racist comments against Trayvon would refuse to be treated by a Black doctor in an emergency room?

“Hell no……ain’t no black thug doc gonna fix me….get me a white doc or let me die”

Somehow I don’t think that would be their attitude.

    • Xena says:

Funny you mention that mountainmanpat. It reminds me of a White Supremacist I tried reasoning with once, who stated to me about the Black doctor who treated him; “If it wasn’t for the White man, he would be a witch doctor in Africa.” (sigh)

      • Malisha says:

THere was a great segment of the M*A*S*H show where a racist soldier is being treated and gets a transfusion. He spouts off some racist crap and Hawkeye informs him that the doctor who invented blood transfusion was Black. For a joke, the docs get together and pain the guy with iodine so when he wakes out of anesthesia he thinks he IS Black. It was a hilarious segment.

By the way, the best teaching hospital in South Africa was always Baragwanath, in Soweto, which was a Blacks only town under Apartheidt. In that hospital there were well-educated and super-trained residents who would refer some of their patients to the “homelands” witch doctors because they realized they could NOT treat them but the witch doctors, who knew naturopathic medicine and local flora and fauna, could. The ultimate “out of network providers.”

Once the SYG effort is turned down by Judge Nelson, I anticipate efforts to delay the defendent’s trial. But I’m optimistic, the defendent will be convicted and imprisoned before the end of 2013. Excellent article, Frederick Leatherman!

      • You all have thoughtful comments says:

All of the following is something I wrote on Newsvine in response to someone who asked why we were all posting about this case:
        .
        .
        Why am I here?

I mourn with parents who lose their children to needless violence…..kidnapping, molestation, guns….

I believe that children should be able to walk safely in the neighborhood without threat of violence. Trayvon was simply walking home from the store and was pursued and killed because of someone’s unfounded suspicions of him.

It is very hard to listen (and it has been with tears welling up) to Trayvon’s desperate, excruciating cry for help as he looked death in its face.

I am very concerned that the SYG law opens up the possibility of vigilantism. I believe that George had NO authority to challenge Trayvon. He called the police, placing the situation in their hands to investigate. Yet, George immediately obstructed that investigation by taking the law into his own hands by pursuing and ultimately killing Trayvon.

I am sure that the KKK would have loved a law such as the SYG law.

I feel that George in the past has never had to face the consequences of his actions…..too many free “get out of jail” cards. I won’t go into George’s mental state.

Mostly, I want to advocate for Trayvon whose life was cut short by George Zimmerman who I believe is guilty of second degree murder.

I believe in social justice. I have also posted at

  24. i think we are having problems determining what is racism. one may think something is racist while another thinks it’s a harmless joke.
i don’t want to be offensive to anyone that is on this side of justice. but i get confused sometimes.

    • Nef05 says:

In my opinion, one is an excuse for the other. A way to play it off as “acceptable”. It still hurts – take the example of my professorial father dressed in “acadamia” takes his daughter over the Canadian Bridge for a 1 month LASIK checkup and coming home, we showed license and BC, as required.

This woman looked at my BC with the other BC listed as my father and Negro, looked around his minivan and asked him “where was his daughter”, and she was going to call her supervisor. I’m a daddy’s girl and the light of his life, though I look just like my European/filipino mother and when I saw the shame, resignation and hurt on his face, only the thought he would not like to be on the local news kept me from going “8 mile” on her.

You’re right. It’s not funny and it hurts, but I suspect it;s designed to.

      • hey Nef 05, your father’s story hurts me too. it’s the pride i suppose that he felt stripped of at that moment. it’s that sharp, startling, red hot humiliating memory that will stab at him at the most unsuspecting moments of his life. and i can relate to that. many people will have a painful example like that, it will remind them of terrible injustices that are ready to attack them without notice. it may also prepare them better for the next one.

fortunately he has an adoring, sensitive daughter that was there to console him and stand by him at a time when he needed you.. it’s not often one will witness the love for his child become the subject of his deepest weakness. it wouldn’t have bothered him if it weren’t for his love for his daughter.
i envy you and him both for having such an important relationship

There is color bias in nearly all groups. It becomes racism when those in power are able to institutionalize that bias so that people are unable to enjoy the rights, responsibilities and privileges of the majority. Individuals who support and/or actively participate in that institutionalization are racists.

The institutionalization is done by various levels of government by passing laws that discriminate. Local governments pass/enforce building codes differently depending who lives where. Education money gets doled out depending on who goes to that school. An argument can be made that it’s really an institutionalization to further harm the poor and in a different post I might make that argument. If the area chosen for harsh treatment is populated by African Americans or Native Americans, it doesn’t matter what their economic status is, although those with the resources can move somewhere else, but this was not always the case. The price they pay for moving can be the loss of culture and the extended family.

Corporations such as banks institutionalize the bias, effecting racism, in that they red line areas and refuse to make loans or charge exorbitant interest rates to anyone who lives in the red lined area, or corporations who don’t hire people who don’t “look” or “sound” like them. (At one time, Kodak had a preference for tall blond men. Sort dark women need not apply.) Small (or large) businesses had “xxxxx need not apply” under their help wanted signs. The signs are gone but, in too many instances, the message has not changed, except for what the xxxxx stands for.

In this country each new group of immigrants has faced racism. The Irish, the Italians, the Germans had a turn and are now fully integrated and no longer face the institutional bias of racism. The Chinese and the Japanese have also had a turn with differing degrees of integration (consider the China towns of the large cities). We see now those from the Middle East, especially those identified as Muslim, and with Hispanics, especially those who have English as a second language. These are groups who have had trouble getting housing and jobs and who frequently are taunted.

The bias and racism against the people of Africa and the native people of this country are further complicated by our centuries of slavery and by the arrogance of white superiority. Slaves had nothing. Being freed, they lost their source of food and their shelter. They were on their own with nothing and too many advocates of white privilege want to keep it that way. The advantages of having an underclass are many.

There is more to say but I don’t like long posts. This one already exceeds my limit. Maybe you-all would like to consider the advantages to the elite of having an underclass.

      • seallison says:

bettykath- so right you are. It is one thing to be racist. It is another thing to have governments at all levels to be racist in its policies, laws, rules and regulations. Racists are tough nuts to crack. But changes to government are possible if the population is willing to embrace equality and fairness.
